Hi all....I am still trying to adjust my diet so that my energy needs and mental clarity are taken care of. I am one of those (veg.) living foodists who have special dietary circumstances to be met. High-maintenance to be sure!.....--but so worth the effort. I have just recently gotten into sprouting, and eating lots of them daily has enabled me to go fully vegetarian for the first time in my life! I've been eating this way for 1 1/2 months now. Before that, I had to supplement my diet with eggs or fish that repulsed my colon, my taste buds, and my sense of morality. (I am highly allergic to corn and wheat, and I can't assimilate glucose for brain fuel. My body can only process glucose from protein, and unsprouted or cooked grains/nuts weren't enough to stabilize my energy.) Now that I've learned about sprouting, I won't have to keep choking down that horrible-tasting, overly expensive wild salmon every day to keep from passing out! Thank you, sprouts!!

Here is what my daily diet looks like:

-all foods raw, organic-

Breakfast:         -1  1/2 cup sprouted quinoa


Lunch:              -HUGE salad  (spinach, red cabbage, zucchini, yellow summer squash, carrots)
(no dressing)                   
                        -2/3  cup broccoli
                         
                        -2/3  cup cauliflower

                        -1/4  cup celery

                        -1/4  avocado

                        -1  cup sprouted quinoa


Dinner:             -7  kiwis  (or 1 lb. berries, cherries, peaches, oranges)

                        -4 to 10 apples  (gala is especially crispy and yummy where I live right now)

                        -1  1/2 cups  sprouted flaxseeds  (very easy to sprout!)

                        -1/4 avocado


I know that seems like a lot to chew.....it is!!  It takes me forever to chew it all and it's quite a hassle. I used to try to blend things up in a smoothie, but I get ravenous cravings and uncontrolled food lusts when I start eating blended (or dehydrated) food. My blood sugar goes wild at the drop of a hat, because my body cannot process the glucose in fructose properly unless it comes in s-l-o-w-l-y with fiber and water, etc. That's why I have to eat fruit in the p.m., because it makes me super-tired. It's the perfect way to settle me down at night from the high I get from eating sprouts! And yeah, it can be an expensive pain, but I am so grateful that I finally found the dietary answer to all my problems....plus, a great forum to go with it!!

wheres the beef?

if i ate that much every day, id be passing out from lack of carbs.

every cell in the body is fueled by glucose. the brain ONLY by glucose.

whats the best source of glucose? fresh fruit.

the reason i would faint on that menu is cos their is only a little bit of fruit. and its not even sweet fruit.

im talking lychees, oranges, bananas, mango, cherries, dates, grapes,etc.

when do i feel like passing out? when ive cycled 18 hours and not eaten enough fruit and by blood sugar is starting to drop off the deep end. after a few bites im back raring to go.

i cycled 190km yesterday and 195km the day before. in massive heat and humidity. smashing through the sweet fruit and water. ive gone months without veg and nuts. but would find that impossible with no fruit.

i eat sprouts for variety but definitely not staple. and ive never met someone whom has been a raw athlete on sprouts.

ive found that sweet, juicy fruit is the best staple. and the most common for long term healthy raw vegans.

every bit of info you just gave. high fruit consumption answers.

ie; grain consumption occurs when we dont eat enough fruit.( sugar needs)
fat cravings from animals sources occur when we dont eat enough fruit. (caloric needs)

an average day for me when im doing some long slow miles is:

breakfast: 20 big bananas, or 5kg oranges or 2 big pineapples or 10 big mangoes.(smaller amount if i have fast interval training straight up)

lunch:same. or if its real hot a 5-10 kg watermelon.

dinner:same as breakfast. then after a salad with some nuts.

drinking between 2 - 15 litres of water depending on climate and physical exertion. i aim to pass clear urine ever 2 hours ish.

basically, all the mono fruit i care for, when im hungry till im full.

remember,life is sweet!

Spring its great that you are listening to your own body and taking notice of what it wants for fuel.

A lot of people are grain intolerant, thats because its literately for the birds. Grain is not meant to be eaten by humans and grain consumption has only occured over the last 10,000 years or so. Birds have crops and they swallow tiny stones to help grind the grain, making it easier to eat.

Me, I eat fruit during the day and salad fruits at night, with a few greens thrown in for good measure. Like most people here on this forum, I have one green smoothie per day and also make almond milk from time-to-time.

Today I had 1.25 litres of green smoothie, 3 mandarines, 1 nut milk with 3 bananas and carob powder and I am about to go and find some more food as I am really hungry. I have just finished an 8 kllometre walk and I am pretty whacked.
