Title: what's for dinner tonight peoples?
Post by: Jenergy on Tuesday 01 July, 2008
hey all... I'm about to go make my dinner. I have no idea what I'll make yet. I'm in two minds... wraps or spiralised salad?

What are you having? Do you know?

My favourite salad at the moment ...

I ripe mango blended with 1/2 a red capsicum

Pour over chopped celery and cucumber

OPTIONAL: Add a few slices of avocado or 1/2 a handful of raw cashews to garnish.

OPTIONAL: If you are really craving sweet a couple of chopped medjool dates go nicely too.

This was inspired by a recipe from David Klein. It is really yummy!

Tonight I forgot to have dinner. Yesterday though was cauliflower rice with dressing and lots of chopped veggies and greens. Followed a few hours later by a beet root, celery, apple, kale juice.

Last night for dinner I was very “naughty” and had a chicken, bacon, cheese, tomato & mayo toasted focaccia bread sandwich – sorry to say but it was absolutely gorgeous.

Feeling a little bit guilty today though, so dinner tonight will be..............

250ml carrot, orange, lemon, ginger & turmeric juice
250ml celery, apple, cucumber & ginger juice
250ml beetroot, lettuce, carrot, celery & ginger juice

I normally have just vegetable juice for dinner, I find it very satisfying.

Dear Children

Please don’t try this same madness at home.

In the early hours of the morning, when I was thrashing about crying my eyes out in intense pain, double bent clutching my guts and bleeding heavily from the bowel ~ I seriously regretted my utter stupidity.

Please don’t be tempted to make silly choices, please learn from Aunty Kitty’s mistake and stick to RAW.

How about having my very favourite raw dish for dinner ~ raw vegan sushi ~ so yummy and so healthy.

For pudding, how about a gorgeous melt-in-you-mouth nut and warm date raw dessert from the book of Alissa Cohen. It only takes about 5 minutes to make and about 30 seconds to cram into your gob!

I should not be talking about Alissa Cohen puddings whilst trying to do a juice fast..........AGHHHHH

I love raw sushi! It's totally lovely. I'm sorry, but not surprised to hear about your tummy upset. I hope it clears up soon. I tell you what though, it is interesting that when I read about cooked foods that others have eaten it can completely trigger cravings in me. I don't know if this happens with anyone else and I won't say what craving was triggered by your post but goodness it's funny how something doesn't occur to us and then all of a sudden.... Ah well.

tonight I've got a friend coming for dinner. She is a rawbie so I'm trying my curried balls out on her.  I'm going to make it like a lasagne though and not as a noodles dish. I want to see how this will go with no dehydrating. Wish me luck!

I sometimes find myself wanting the stangest things when people talk about them. The weirdest one is when its a chicken dish, its stupid, i hate the taste of it (ive been told by many im strange for this) so cant imagine why id crave it, sometimes i just think its the thought of what i cant have. Like smelling bread and wanting to take a bite, but knowing full well it isnt food for me (gluten intolerant).

My dinner tonight was yum, so thought this was a great place to share. Made a tabouli with sprouted buckwheat. Made it fairly traditional cept for the buckwheat. Tomatoes chopped up, heaps of chopped parsley, a little chopped mint, lemon juice, and diced zucchini (cucumbers the standard, but i didnt have any left). Yum yum yum.

I served it on some finely sliced zucchini so it was like an underlayer of pasta. Hubby got some toasted lebanese bread with it, must say was jealous i couldnt have that, but it was memory association coz i put the bread on top and it made me think of when i was in turkey.

Just thought I would share this with you guys... I never get cravings to eat anything but raw. but I do love the smell of other foods... bread baking, especially fruit loaf, even some meat dishes smell great. But to me it's like perfume or flowers... they smell great but I have no desire to eat them.. maybe try thinking of it like that and it will help with the cravings. After being questioned about why I dont get the cravings it accured to me that that was just how I saw it. Theres always a raw substitute.

And as for dinner a huge salad of spinach, mushrooms, corn, beetroot, zucchini, fresh chives and parsley with soaked Wakame seaweed, with an avocado, tomato, seaweed, fresh garlic, ginger, chives dressing blended into a beautiful thick mayo like sauce. Sprinkled with dulse and dehydrated celery bits... it's just devine. Followed by spiralized zuchini with spirulina, maca and flaxseed oil on it.. swamp sludge at its best. Full tummy and ready for a good nights sleep!!

xx

Yes, I can now see the word association.

Sorry.

Tonight for dinner – if I had a dehydrator – I would be having:

Asparagus and Porcini Ravioli with lemon cream and balsamic-fig puree – page 193

And in the morning – if I had a dehydrator – I would be having:

Cinnamon-Date French Toast with bananas, walnuts and maple syrup – page 279

But since I don’t have a dehydrator............ I will be forced to simply lick the pages of the Raw Food Real World recipe book.
