Title: Detoxing Adults
Post by: Annette on Friday 05 September, 2008
I know Jen started a thread about detoxing children, just thought I would start one for adults.  I probably already know the answer to this, but just need that conformation that I am on the right track.

Anyway, during winter reverted back to some cooked food and was hit by fatigue too.  So now that spring has hit I would like to give the body a good clean.  Feel like the liver is sluggish, hence the body not wantng to release the fat stores and toxins that have accumulated by the recent cooked food eaten.

I exercise every day, either weight training or running, walking or some sort of sport.  So, some toxins should be released through sweat, but my skin isn't the best at the moment due to this process.

I have a green smoothie daily, two salads a day (really craving them) and some fruit in between.  Have tried doing a lemonade cleanse, but I get to lunch time and I am starving so I am not forcing the juicing or water fasting at the moment.  When I first started raw, after a sitting of eating cooked food or a few bad days of not eating high raw I would always go back to fasting.  Not a place I want to go back to, not a healthy emotional state.  So when the time is right I will try this again.

I am not sure why the body isn't going into clean stage.  Maybe willing it too much or the odd cooked food everyday.  It maybe a little here and there but I did read in one of the posts, think it may have been Freelea's saying that the body can get confused.  So maybe I am sending it mixed signals.

Anyway, I think a good healthy mental attitude will see me in good sted.  Am on the way but not quite there.  My goal is to be intuitive with my body.  Listen to my body and eat, drink and exercise as to what my body needs for the day and not be too concerned if this food will help me detox more and if this exercise will help me release more toxins etc.  Just need some peace in the little head of mine.  hee hee.

xx

Just need some peace in the little head of mine. I think that's one of the most important things for some people with too much stress - the adrenals can kick in too much and the body tends to hold onto everything. It doesn't mean you have to sit on a mountain top cross legged to find peace, (though that works for some people), it just means stopping the internal conversation building it all up to more than it is, some people do that meditating, some people do it exercising, some people do it sleeping, some people do it gardening, some people do it patting the dog, not many people do it in front of a computer screen.  A sense of peace does make it easier to put things in perspective, let the adrenal glands calm down and let the body get on with what it is doing with all the good food and exercise and sunshine and whatever else you're supporting it with.

so true Melb, that is why I have started doing Chi Kong which helps to relax the mind and cease the internal chatter.  MY teacher said it could take up to a year.  That is okay!!

I do also agree that somtimes my adrenals are so stressed.  Just need  some time aways from the kids.  hee hee.  I say that now and then I miss them to much.
