31  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Re: Mango Chest Pains on: Tuesday 24 October, 2006
Thanks all... Yes, Its quite confusing...
Its a really weird feeling indeed.
Its not pain as such, more discomfort, associated with digestion.  It kind of sits there.  and you can feel it slowly going down, and once it does make its way to the stomach all is ok.

I didn't eat when I wasn't hungry thats the thing.  I usually eat 1 or two, but this day I had 3 cos, they were really good and I felt like I could go more.

And then later that day, when I had lunch, the same thing.  After I ate I had this inability for the food to travel down my digestive tract.

Weird.

Today has been fine... I have a day off... I am more relaxed...
Maybe it was connected to my nervous system.  I was going to work, I was thinking about the day ahead, I was conscious of the time, I was talking with my fiance about what were doing that evening.... yeah, thats probably it, I would say...

Not paying attention to what I was eating.
Interesting isn't it.

One of my non raw foodist friends thought maybe it was fiber related.  She summised that the fiber was cleaning the diigestive tract on its way down... dislodging the fat deposits???
Maybe... I had just made and eaten some raw seed bread the night before all this started.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT??
xp

33  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Mango Chest Pains on: Monday 23 October, 2006

I have been eating about 3 mangoes for breakfast...

The last couple of days after I have consumed them, I get a tightening in my chest.

It is really uncomfortable.  What's all this about then eh???

I awake, have 2 glasses of water.  Start eating mangoes half an hour later.  Then the pain starts almost immediately after I have finished eating.

Is it the water??  Is this diluting the HCL in my stomach?  But the pain is not in my gut, its in my chest???  HMMM???
Im confused.

Who can help me here.

35  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / Recipes - Meals & Snacks / veggie chips on: Thursday 19 October, 2006
Hi y'all.

I was wandering about veggie chips.  There are these chips on the market from 'Nutshack'... sweet potato chips that are raw and dried, not fried and they are really crispy, like chips.
I dunno if its true?  its all a bit shifty the packaging I reckon...they have raw tapioca ones too.

I have never been able to make veggie chips in my dehydrator like this before.  Mine are shrivelled up sad pathetic looking limp chips, if you can call them chips at all!!!!

ha!

Is it because the dehydrator I use is not pressurised???
hmmm.,
anyone??

Hey I was doing some research and came across this...
How cool...

Herring Island is this weird little island on the YARRA river right in the middle of Melbourne.
Access only by boat.
You can rent the island out for parties, they have a rotunda type thing set-up.

What a great place to have a RAW party!!

HA! cool.

http://home.vicnet.net.au/~herring/flora.htm

And then, at the botttom of the page is further links to other areas in Melbourne where indigenous edible plants are!!

COOL.  Wow, I would never have even looked at this if it wasnt for the forum.  I like this!

40  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Re: Raw food costs on: Wednesday 18 October, 2006
A fresh fruit and veg co-op???

If you buy in bulk its much cheaper...
Maybe you can organise a group of friends, and share the food that you have bought in bulk.
You can take turns each week.

One thing everybody needs -  is food...  so finding friends to share shouldnt be too hard...especially when you can all benefit with a fistfull more of cash in your pocket each week.

Im sure there would be plenty of people at your uni interested??

Anyway... you can sort out all the details.

I think its a good idea.

Without moving to the tropics (oneday, I will) but not yet!!  Without starting your own garden...(its not immediate enough, or consistent!)...nor may it be up you alley.

So, yeah, its not easy I agree with you.  But there are ways around things.

I am really good with money.  I have other tips if you want?

ok, well hope I helped a little bit.

Hi Helen,

How fantastic... lets do it!!!
I cant wait to meet more like minded people.
It really does make a difference having a forum like this.
It is hugely supportive and informative - Since reading some of the recent forums, I have changed one or two ways of doing things!!!  more mental than anything!

Hey yeah, so, when do you think>>>?>??

I work a lot!

I don;t have the luxury of weekend!  I have Thursdays off!!!  ha!  sad but true!

I could meet in the late evening somewhere... I guess after daylight saving starts will make that easier... I forget it stays light to after 9pm in summer doesnt it!!!

Yeah, so easily in the nights after 6pm...

Wow, cool, that will be fun.

Where??  Maybe the botanical gardens???   Thats always nice for a picnic!

Good work Helen, suggesting that!

So, tell me about yourself.  I don't actually know who you are.

42  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Re: Adjusting Socially on: Sunday 15 October, 2006
It was my friends birthday dinner last night... it was out at a restaurant.

I have had all bad luck eating out since being RAW...until last night.

I ordered an $8 tiny bowl of roquette... and when it arrived I unloaded a lunch box full of ingredients I had prepared earlier.  It was the best meal I have eaten out in I can't rememeber how long!!!

It was great, there was no uncomfortable moment when the waiter comes around and you have to explain that you are a Raw Foodie... ''can you please make me up a salad using these ingedients...blah blah...''

Its even better for you and the people around you when the waiter replies, no, we only do whats on the menu...
---oh gawd, youre kidding me... you suck, you pathetic little person, think outside the square dingbrain! (I think to myself)...was that a bit harsh?Huh

yeah but no, its humiliating I find... and theres nothing worse than having to endure watching everyone else enjoying their dinner whilst all you can think about as you sip on your glass of water, all the yummy stuff awaiting you when you get home.

So, I paid $8 for the experience of being able to share my meal with others... and it was actually worth it!!!
BYO...

goodluck and enjoy dining out once again.

Oh Durianrider,
I forgot to ask...
I just read about minh and ronnie... and that reminded me of the Raw Vietnamese fried rice dish that she had prepared...

Can you give me insight into what it was exactly?

cheers
paul

44  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Re: raw spirit festival in sedona on: Friday 13 October, 2006
YES, I agree, that sounded fun...

What date is set for one in Australia???

Who organises these events???
Who organised the one in Sedona?

I should probably Google it now.

Durianrider - l think you are an absolute nut.  I can't believe you can ride that much... nuts...
it would be such an adventure...good for you!  Do you train solely for fun? or are you a professional athelete?

I wish I could go for a ride in Melbourne and stop and eat a tree of berries on the way home!! ha!  could you imagine?  Sounds like a dream.

Have a good run this weekend!
