PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Re: dehydrator temperatures
|
on: Thursday 03 July, 2008

Based on Gabriel Cousins (Rainbow Green Live Cuisine/Tree of Life Rejuvenation Center) recommendations working in conjunction with Excalibur, you can raise the temperature to 145F for 1>3 hours depending on the density of whatever you're dehydrating. Then you turn it down to 105F or so for the remainder of the drying time. I get delicious, repeatable, reliable results using this method. Prior to this I wasted a lot of time and got totally turned off of making crackers - let alone breads and other dense items because they usually tasted bitter and horrible and fermented. As mentioned, they claim it doesn't affect the enzymes that much. Best to purchase of copy of Gabriel Cousins book here on Raw-Pleasure and investigate it for yourself - the breads recipes are amongst the best I've ever made...I form a loaf and slice it into individual slices, so this will fit in either a square Excalibur or a round dehydrator... http://www.raw-pleasure.com.au/component/page,shop.product_details/flypage,shop.flypage/product_id,265/category_id,39/manufacturer_id,0/option,com_virtuemart/Itemid,49/

The Best News Ever! Lets Picnic while the Sun's Still Shining! I had set our next vegan rawfood potluck for the last Sunday in March because Denis & I are busy with work and unable to organize anything sooner.... Well, our most gracious Joy has volunteered to host another Potluck Picnic tor all of you - much sooner!!! This coming Sunday, March 2nd at our favorite picnic spot in Centennial Park. You all know the drill! Meet from noon onwards, bring your favorite vegan rawfood dish to dazzle your friends with (simple or complex - bring whatever you want to share) - don't forget something to serve your dish with and something to eat with and eat off of so you can enjoy all the other goodies!!! Joy will be there to greet you all - rain or shine (we duck under the nearby kiosk with picnic tables if the weather is less than lovely - so don't let the rain stop you). Please RSVP to me as usual at gay@giftsfromgaia.com and I will pass everything on to Joy - I'm going to be in front of this computer retouching, so will need a welcome break once in awhile to check emails. Hoping to be able to join in on Sunday for some time out with the rest of you! We're holding two potlucks in March, so please mark your calendars for Sunday, March 2nd and Sunday, March 30th! PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Re: Vegan Motivation.... videos?

It took me several attempts to get through this film EARTHLINGS, I was much better in the company of friends - we were all aghast. I was overcome and had to leave the room many times. I have been exposed to a lot of animal rights films over the last 25 years and think this one should be seen by everyone. As harrowing as it is - I would much rather be informed and aware and make choices befitting life as a responsible guest on this planet. Watch the documentary EARTHLINGS in it's entirety on YouTube http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-1282796533661048967EARTHLINGS is a feature length documentary about humanity's absolute dependence on animals (for pets, food, clothing, entertainment, and ... all » scientific research) but also illustrates our complete disrespect for these so-called "non-human providers." The film is narrated by Academy Award nominee Joaquin Phoenix (GLADIATOR) and features music by the critically acclaimed platinum artist Moby. With an in-depth study into pet stores, puppy mills and animals shelters, as well as factory farms, the leather and fur trades, sports and entertainment industries, and finally the medical and scientific profession, EARTHLINGS uses hidden cameras and never before seen footage to chronicle the day-to-day practices of some of the largest industries in the world, all of which rely entirely on animals for profit. Powerful, informative and thought-provoking, EARTHLINGS is by far the most comprehensive documentary ever produced on the correlation between nature, animals, and human economic interests. There are many worthy animal rights films available, but this one transcends the setting. EARTHLINGS cries to be seen. Highly recommended!
