1  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Seed cheeses... on: Sunday 30 November, 2008
Brett talked about these, and they just didn't appeal to me at the time, but I've had hands on experiences with them more often lately, and when I finish my juice feast am going to explore more! Cherie Soria has been making them for something like 18 years, and my friend Gino, who imports OceanGrown to Canada does as well (that dip was one of the tastiest things I have ever had raw, and Cherie's I won't be able to taste since I'm juicing right now). You can use rejuvelac or probiotic powder to ferment it, and the proteins/fats are partially digested so it's easy to digest (less fat), and the flavour really mellows.

Gabriel Cousins has a section on seed/nut cheese in Conscious Eating and it's a regular part of what they do at Tree of Life.

Anyone been playing with this? Would love to hear more or share recipes.

Cheers,
Sheryl
2  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / What Would you Lke to Know about being a Raw Food Chef or Opening a Cafe??? on: Friday 28 November, 2008
We have the chance to interview Cherie Soria this week (the founder and chef of the Living Light Culinary Arts Institute), and more famous raw chefs in the coming two weeks.

What would you most like to know about what it takes to be a raw food chef or open a raw cafe or catering business? Ask any questions you like, and we'll do our best to ask the famous raw food chefs!

Thank you so much,
Sheryl
3  Go RAW! The Testimonial Section! / RAW Journals - Your RAW Experiences / Re: gg's juice feast on: Thursday 20 November, 2008
GG,

Piers and I had the chance to see Gabriel Cousins live a few times this past weekend in Toronto Canada. I have  a whole new respect for him and what he does, and have pulled out his books for a thorough read. He radiates love and truth and simply being in the same room, even without him talking, was special.

Have you seen his Raw for 30 Days DVD? Make sure you do - it's fabulous. The changes to the diabetic symptoms that group was having was so extreme - one guy even healed from type 1 diabetes. I think he is definitely very clear on raw and his opinion is one that I trust highly. His Cure of Diabetes book is a fabulous general health book too - I learned alot reading it.

Thanks for sharing your excitement! And please do share more as I think adding more of what he does to general discussions on the forum would be great.

Cheers,
Sheryl
4  Go RAW! The Testimonial Section! / RAW Journals - Your RAW Experiences / Re: Savvy's Safari on: Tuesday 18 November, 2008
I was at someone's house in Canada last week and they have goji berries growing. Apparently there are 1000's of acres of commercial goji berries growing in Ontario Canada now. The fresh berries are so beautiful, smooth and semi translucent. I want to grow them too!!
5  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Fitness & Health / Re: New plant protein... on: Tuesday 14 October, 2008
Piers and I are using this and really like it. It's smooth and easy to blend into liquid... more so than other raw protein powders I have used. I don't think just sprouted brown rice would do it... it's really hard to digest. The Sunwarrior protein has all the carbs fermented out of it... so it's mostly only protein left. I'm just working on the source, but should have details to Jennie at Raw Pleasure for her to start stocking it shortly.

We have two other kinds of protein powder in the cupboard, and have not been using either we like the Sunwarrior Protein so much. My favourite is the neutral just because it goes in anything, but all three have mild flavours, not super punched up

Piers and I shared at a house at Raw Spirit with the Sun Warrior Crew this year in Sedona and I really like them, both personally and how they do business.
6  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Re: Raw or Not? Himalayan Goji Juice... you decide. on: Tuesday 07 October, 2008
Personally I think it's pretty clear that most products like this are not raw. In reality in most countries it's not legal to sell raw bottled juice. The USA has cracked down on this last year, and I think the last raw bottled juice company was disallowed to do what it did.

How long do you think raw juice would last if made at home and bottled in plastic?

And actually the main point is... why drink the manufactured bottled juice when you can eat the whole dried berries. Even better would be fresh berries, and there are people growing them in Australia! Some companies even sell the plants.
7  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Raw Foodists Arrested for Trafficking Chocolate; Interrogated for "Cacao Crimes" on: Thursday 25 September, 2008
http://www.naturalnews.com/024304.html

This two people are good friends of ours in Canada. They are the most lovely couple ever with a beautiful little boy. Lots of good will come from this though, and hopefully the publicity they are getting here will help prevent others from having to go through what they did.

The tea tree oil, frankincense oil and chocolate all tested positive for hash resin. Proper tests later showed they were false positive (as expected).
8  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Raw Spirit in Sedona Arizona 2008 on: Wednesday 17 September, 2008
Piers and I attended this past weekend and it was amazing. It was phenomenal to network with so many other raw businesses (there were at least 50). There are so many people doing so many amazing things. I feel blessed to have met and connected so deeply with so many people. Many potential projects came up, and I know I'll see many of these people again in the next year.

One meal was provided a day. All three meals were large salad plates, with grated veggies, nori once, and usually about 1/3 cup of pate or dressing. I was impressed they went so high greens, as often raw chefs when entertaining choose to go really heavy with dishes like raw lasagna. It was all great. They also used all eco compostable cutlery. Many of the companies donated the food used in the meals too.

At any one time there were three speakers, a musician/poet, a sharing circle and more. It was often hard to decide who to see. One speaker is a tribal elder in his 90's that MAYBE looks 65. He was so knowledgeable and so generous with his time. He had us into his office today for a 2.5 hour talk which was so generous. Our friend Deepika was really impressed by one vendor from Mexico, and he came to our rental house to do a 5 hour lecture the day after the event. He's really into quantum mechanics, body energy and raw and put so many different topics together into the most amazing lecture/discussion on raw food and cycles of the earth. I learned so much and was so grateful of him to share his time.

We had lots of time to speak to people like Anthony from www.rawmodel.com (more than one person cried talking top him he touched people so deeply), Philip from NYC (a favourite of Jennie and Miss Giggles), Paul Nison, David Wolfe and many more. So much knowledge was shared. David Wolfe is heavily into wild foraging and talked a lot about the importance of learning about wild edibles in your area.  Anthony from Raw Model is also into permaculture and living off the land. Independence from buying food was a huge theme for many speakers, as was minimization of bills to allow people to work less and focus more on doing things they love (often which have a larger impact on the world than working a 9-5 job).

All in all it was a magnificent weekend. I met friends I will have for life and learned lots. I'll write more later... just getting ready to sleep now before we head back to Toronto tomorrow.

Cheers,
Sheryl
9  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / Personal Growth And Manifestation / Re: David Icke on: Tuesday 09 September, 2008
I was told last week that David had a HUGE breakthrough and is no longer teaching his conspiracy theories. He realized it was spreading too much negativity in the world. Has anyone seen evidence of this online?
10  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Raw Superstars we have met in the last three weeks.... on: Tuesday 09 September, 2008
What the list below tells me is that raw is growing faster every day. There is such a wide variety of people sharing raw food and natural living ideas and experiences with people. The natural health movement grows stronger and larger every day, and I'm so happy to be a part of this change happening in the world.

Victoria Bountenko
She sparkles in person and is so absolutely lovely to talk with. She sang the most beautiful song to start her talk and has such a lovely voice. An Australian tour is in the works. And her new Green Smoothie book should be out soon fingers crossed. She had a big publisher pick it up, so it's going to get A LOT of publicity!

David Wolfe
We are now making this wild forest tea as a base for smoothies. He is heavily into wild foods and we learned so much. He's very generous with his time and spent hours talking to people once his talk was over, and we spent the next day with him too at the house of our friends Ron and Nadine of www.livinglibations.com. Coming to Australia is on his short list of places to visit, so everyone start focusing on drawing him there and it will happen.

Angela Stokes & Matt Monarch
On request she sang her green smoothie song. She was so charming in person. They loved their Australian visit and felt very welcomed. Matt gives great hugs all around. They are on the road almost constantly sharing their lives and vision with people.

Roxanne Klein
Author of RAW with Charlie Trotter. We had dinner with her last weekend and she is lovely in person (absolutely gorgeous too). We exchanged recipe ideas. She's using Irish Moss to make a raw 'tofu' style cube for raw stir fries that sounds really interesting. Much laughter and flower hydrosols all around made for a wonderful evening. She launched a line of fresh prepared raw foods in grocery stores earlier this year which is making raw easily accessible to a totally new group of people. Fingers crossed we'll see a new book from her soon too!

Philip of www.lovingraw.com McCluskey
A more generous kind man you could not meet. He's absolutely magnificent on a stage and so heart felt. I look so forward to his weight loss inspiration book. If you have a weight loss success story to share please contact him via his website. He was at the event selling raw chocolate from a good friend in New York City and the newly revised Complete Book of Raw Food which includes some of his recipes too.

Natasha & Mark of www.SimplyRaw.ca
This couple puts on the Simply Raw festival in Canada each year for FREE. Thanks to their generous hearts thousands of people learn more about raw. They do amazing things with their site in Ottawa Ontario, and support many in transiting to Raw Food.

Paul Nison
He was his usual entertaining funny self. I missed his talk but will get to see it later on video.

Shantree Kacera and Lorenna Bousquet-Kacera
This amazing couple has been exploring raw and alternative healing for almost 4 decades. They have a property near London Ontario Canada they have turned into a forest garden. They have over 1000 types of herbs growing. We are going to visit them in early October. He's working on the answer to raw in a northern climate and exploring wild foods anyone can find in Canadian forests. We look forward to learning from him.

Hetta Winterstellar
This grandmother turned Ironman triathlete is warm, lighthearted and so down to earth. We felt privileged to spend an hour hearing her story. She follows Anne Wigmore practices and loves her greens.

WOW is all I can say!

11  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Grace before meals... the perfect one for raw foodists on: Thursday 28 August, 2008
"The seed and root beneath the Earth,
the willful, growing shoot...
the hopeful bud, the flow'ring blossom
turned to glowing fruit.

We thank the Earth who grew this food
from little bursting seeds,
and the Keeper of the Earth,
whose gifts fulfill our needs."

I just love this and had to share. It's such a perfect 'grace' for before meals. It's from a book called "Seven Times the Sun" by Seah Darian that Jennie (Jenergy) gifted me. It's a book on creating balance and joy in families with rituals to bring meaning to the day. It's gorgeous. Thanks Jennie!
12  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Dream property for a nature loving raw fooder on: Thursday 28 August, 2008
It's 200+ acres with a 20 acre private spring fed lake. A log house, a 4 season house with a basement (for my hydroponic garden) and a guest house with sauna on the lake. WOW! And the cost is just a little more than the .8 acre property we are living in now. I think I am in love. Lots of room for friends to visit.

Please do some positive visualizing for us! Move in date early October in celebration of Sacha's birthday (that was his idea).

Love,
Sheryl
13  FAQ - Check Here for the most common Answers! / Forum Assistance / Re: The Free Ebook is broken on: Monday 11 August, 2008
Hey Jen, the download copy does not work for MAC's (the software has not been designed for them).... that's why the online version was created. As you said after the upgrade the online will be working again! Yahhhhh!
14  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Re: water.......what do you drink? on: Sunday 10 August, 2008
Piers and I have a Wellness Water Filter. We bought it years ago when living in a house with rusty water pipes and it turned the water in to delicious water (shocking it would even remove the red colour and rust taste). We're still using it. We calculated one day the cost (not to mention waste) of buying bottled water when we were out each day, and our expensive filter paid for itself in less than two years. Love it!
15  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Re: Simply Raw Reversing diabetes in 30 days on: Sunday 10 August, 2008
