How many online forum group members does it take to change a lightbulb?
1 to change the light bulb and to post that the light bulb has been changed.
14 to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and how the light bulb could have been changed differently.
7 to caution about the dangers of changing light bulbs.
27 to point out spelling/grammar errors in posts about changing light bulbs.
6 to argue over whether it's "lightbulb" or "light bulb"...another 6 to condemn those 6 as anal-retentive
2 industry professionals to inform the group that the proper term is "lamp".
15 know-it-alls who claim *they* were in the industry, and that "light bulb" is perfectly correct.
109 to post that this group is not about light bulbs and to please take this discussion to a lightbulb group
306 to debate which method of changing light bulbs is superior, where to buy the best light bulbs, what brand of light bulbs work best for this technique, and what brands are faulty.
27 to post URL's where one can see examples of different light bulbs.
33 to link all posts to date, quote them in their entirety including all headers and signatures, and add "Me too".
12 to post to the group that they will no longer post because they cannot handle the light bulb controversy.
4 to say "didn't we go through this already a short time ago?"
1 forum lurker to respond to the original post 6 months from now and start it all over again....
cheers! xx

Hehe! I like those answers Waterberry.
For the protein question.. I usually come back with "What's protein?" If they can tell me what protein is and why we need it and how it works in the body, then I'll give them an answer worthy of the question. If not, I just look at them and say " Hey, how about you learn about protein, and it's function and synthesis in the human body ...and when you've done that we can have a discussion about it"
3) I could just murder a carrot!
4) too many responses ..inappropriate to say here...

Before I started to grow my own food, The organic gardeners association was always a good source of local and organic food. Where I live they used to have meetings and brought home grown food to share or buy at a cheap rate.. and the variety was incredible.. things I'd never seen before. It may work differently from state to state, but many organic gardeners have surplus to their needs and are willing to sell it or give it away , ..you could make some great contacts just by ringing around to see who's got what...and put your name down for any food that's going . there's organic seed savers too, if you want to start your own garden. Here's a link to some organic gardeners on the Gold coast.. and the rest of Australia. http://www.greenharvest.com.au/links/links.html#Seed%20Savers

I do believe that if you start a thread you are making a call for people to respond, therefore the thread is not "yours", so to speak, but for everyone to learn from or to offer their slant on things. Perception is projection...
I certainly didn't find Harley's words to be condescending nor arrogant...nor did i perceive him as having a go at anyone. Nor do I believe it was intended to be so.
Ivan, ever the peace maker!!..thank goodness.

Hi Damian, I've had great success with that particular flush.. probably have done it about 8 times or so. Once or twice I have mistakenly eaten something after the 2pm curfew.. and the results were minimal during those times. The oil factor has a lot to do with nausea.. (mind you the Epsom salts are vile... ) I've felt that nausea too... but just stayed with it.. and it was OK in the end..maybe sit up in bed at an angle so the flush can still work but you're not so flat upon the bed, this generally helps alleviate nausea.

I agree, Berry. I hold a raw afternoon tea once a month... we have become quite a little group and it helps with motivation and sharing of ideas. I also attend the raw picnics when I'm in Perth, ...I have met some wonderful people and have learnt so much from others. But I think that once raw.. you can never forget the wisdom of it.. even if you are raw for only 2 weeks or so. I have faith that people will return to that knowledge, even if it takes years..

Hi Rudi, I've also been doing intermittent fasting.. one day on food... one day off...so fasting for 24hours. (not juice feasting, though). I've found that I perform mentally far better on the days that I'm not eating, and get much more done in the same time. So although I'm not an athlete, my performance has improved in other ways... it's quite an interesting journey.

PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Beauty / Re: All Natural Hair?
|
on: Saturday 08 March, 2008

As a teenager and young woman in my 20's, I never wore any make up ...and neither did the girls I hung out with,.. we were flower children, all natural! In my late 30's i started to colour my hair to hide the grey, I also had a much younger boyfriend for many years.. and didn't want to show the grey to him or our (younger) friends. I wore lipstick now and again, and some eyeliner.
Now in my 50's, I don't colour my hair, I wear no make up whatsoever and love it! Getting ready to go out means washing my face and putting on a few drops of jojoba oil on it. I don't even have to brush my hair as it's super short now. I just couldn't be bothered with all the fussing. My husband agrees , and my dearest friends are pretty much the same. Maybe I'm just lucky having a life partner who doesn't care for these sorts of things. I once knew a girl who said if she didn't shave her underarms her husband would divorce her.. she was serious!! So I am as a child.. no artifice.. what you see is what you get. Do you remember being a child , playing all day, then having a wash , drying off...and that's it? That's the sort of freedom I have . I do wash my hair...with bicarb... I love being clean and fresh, even if I don't use soap or other lotions or potions.

Chuck the tv away...sound like a good idea. There's drawing ,reading, playing, making things, playing with water, playing with sand, playing with dolls, more drawing, more reading....(.who's got time to watch tv) , talking, sweeping, digging, cubby housing, bike riding, clay/ plasticine/wax modelling, bush walking, park playing, growing plants, going to the library, walking on the beach, swimmimg, food preparation....just to name a few activities that are far better than passive tv watching.

PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Re: Water Fasts

I've done a fair bit of water fasting over the last few months.
My first fast of 17 days was without any preparation and with wonderful results. The subsequent 4 fasts have been 10 days each..and last week I fasted for 5 days....oh..and started yesterday on intermittent fasting.
They have all been water fasts without anything else added. The result is ..very clear thinking, fantastic energy, clear skin and of course weight loss. ..I started out as nearly a size 14... now I'm size 10... . I've come to enjoy the days without food , and it's not difficult to do. There's never any hunger, surprisingly.
One friend of mine thought I was going to die after 3 days without food.
I agree with Fruiteous Max... it's no big deal once you've tried it. And Harley hit the nail on the head... there's no point doing a fast if you return to old ways of eating. It's said that what happens after the fast is more important than the fast itself. Personally, I really do enjoy it.
