1  Locally RAW / Australia & New Zealand / Re: Perth Picnics DEC & JAN on: Wednesday 12 December, 2007
I hope you will find it worth the trip.  For the Jan picnic we have an RP member and her family coming up from around Narrogin.  This will be her 2nd trip for the picnic, so hopefully that is a good advert Smiley

Look forward to seeing you. This one is nice and close for me as I live in Joondalup.

Hi Bumble Bee,

It's a bring a plate to share kinda thing.  That can be gourmet, or a bowl of fruit, or a bowl of salad... anything raw.

If it has honey in it you just need to let people know as some do eat honey and the full vegans don't.

What suburb do you live in?  Are you near to Whitfords Beach?

Coach, I meant to reply sooner about your possible Perth trip.  I would participate if it wasn't too far from where I live, and if the cost was not prohibitive.  We're trying to achieve a financial goal at the moment, so most of our funds are headed in that direction for a few more months yet.

I used your hill running technique again today and then switched to the old way nearer the top.  Incredible how quickly I tired as soon as I faced upwards.  I still haven't gathered my courage to explain it to David though lol

Jen, you get to meet *all* the great people.  It's not fair Sad  Hehehe.  Go on, I don't begrudge you anything at all; you work hard for it.

Rosal and Neet, thank you rose kiss  The tan isn't bad is it?  And from nothing other than doing the junk run!!!  So I get paid and it saves me paying for a gym membership and sun bed sessions.  It's all good isn't it?

Here's the wedding pic Rosal...

And I think he has the same expression pretty much in this one too...

Though perhaps it's a little more letcherous in the second rofl

Right.  I've just made David a lovely lunch, filled with love.  We have a plate of mixed, small leaf lettuce, baby spinach etc.  On top of that are some upturned mushrooms filled with a mixture of diced tomatoes, capsicum, sun dried tomatoes, cashew nuts and a little agave and ACV all stirred together.  A little extra of the mix sprinkled over the leaves to give them flavour...

So I said "Mmmm, well this is lovely, if I do say so myself!" and he said "Hmm, you'd have to!!!"

How rude!!!

And he's asked me not to tell you he's naked rofl

Sweat-drenched May LOL

PS - Hi Rita Love kiss  LOL  It was well before, we'd just arrived here and the snogging session was in the dark after we'd eaten.  And I can't tell you why it ended after 5 minutes - not in public anyway.  He always has that look of intent I think Wink  I adore one of our wedding photos because of that look in his eye.  In fact in the whole of his body posture and particularly the tilt of his head.  There's a way that men tilt their heads at women that makes my heart beat faster - doesn't have to be at me.  I feel that when men are oggling women, all is right in the world, and it always makes me smile.

Love and hugs!!!

Here's a pic from Saturday night that a friend of David's took.  This was at the beginning of the evening - I still looked the same at the end and David almost did lol

Wow, wonderful news Emi.  So he's come around eh?  Brilliant yahh

Yeah, yeah, transitioning.  I think David will be doing that for a while yet.  He has days and he has days... LOL

And I hear you on Santa not recruiting the most efficient elves in the world.  Sigh!  I dropped some whopping hints to David over a period of a few days and then said "So!  You've got some ideas for me for Christmas then" and he said "What?  Christmas?  No."  Ho hum.  It's a boy thing and therefore must be a girl thing to endure it rofl

Heaps of love and hugs

Well, we had David's work do last night and it really was a good evening - everyone smiling and happy, laughing and talking....  The food wasn't bad at all and I was able to eat things I was really happy to have for the main course.  Though I did have part of a fruit mince pie (the innards, not the pastry) and a tiny bit of Christmas pudding for dessert.  They had the biggest chocolate fountain I've ever seen and it looked totally disgusting.  Well, to me anyway, all the other women were clamouring around it like seagulls at a picnic!

We had a lovely mix of cultures at our table, which I always love.  There was one couple with the guy Polish and his wife Macedonian.  I love this pair and have met them a few times now.  The wife is absolutely stunning in looks and in character; very dark hair and very pale blue eyes.  Exactly the person you would picture for a Romany gypsy and with the most vibrant, fiery character.  The hubby says he knows of no other man who can be abused in 4 different languages by his wife - 2 of which he does not understand!

There was another Aussie guy with his new Chinese wife.  She has only lived in Australia for 7 months and has very little English.  And the best part of my evening was that despite this, David had her in stitches about 3 times just by his antics and even though she could not understand what he was saying.  I was laughing at him, at her enjoyment of him, and the fact that he could do what he does without needing words.

And we went for a little walk to stretch our legs, out into the quiet gardens and had a good snogging session.  That was very special indeed Smiley

Hi Coach,

We did the junk run this morning and it was great fun as there were only 8 thin catalogues per house, which stunned us this close to Christmas.  We ran and we ran - I'd estimate we ran 80 - 85% of the whole 6kms each and it felt fantastic.  I was running about 10 houses and then walking 1 or 2 and then running again, it was so amazing.

The heaviest my bag was at any stage was 5 kgs, compared to the 15 kgs of Tuesday, so you can see why it made such a huge difference.  I had not fully realised quite how much difference that weight made to my performance.  Interesting, considering I used to carry 30 kgs extra around with me all the time LOL

Your uphill running technique was amazing, and made such a difference.  Because of the weight of the bag I ran all but 1 of the hills (which I power walked) towards the end and it felt so good.  I did not fear tripping over my feet as I'd thought I would either!  It felt more natural with the right leg higher up the hill than when I turned so the left was higher, but that will come with more practice.

Strangely, I also became conscious that I am crossing my body with my free arm instead of pumping it in the direction I want to go.  Changing that helped a lot too.

I'll explain it all to David in due course so he can do it too.  He even runs most of the steepest hill, which I didn't today.  But even he will tell you that my side of that street is more gradual to start and then has a killer steep ending.

Thank you so much for your help!!!  It was great fun yahh ohyeah

Everyone, thank you so much.  I'm even starting to believe it now!!!

Erin, it is a lovely green isn't it?  Erin, Emi, Rita, J'Elf, Chermona and Neet, thank you kiss

The diamante straps came separate from the bra and you can attach them to any convertible strap bra.  They were $20 and came from 'Bras n Things', so available Australia wide.

Chermona, I do hope you enjoy your work do as well.  This is our 11th with David's gang and they are good fun.  All down-to-earth people, as you can imagine.  David's supervisor has always been sweet on me and has only seen me once or twice this year so I'm looking forward to his reaction.  Last time I saw him, he looked me up and down and said (almost in awe) "Wow May, this staying home stuff is agreeing with you!"

Oh, I was down another half kg, was it yesterday?  Still off this morning, so I'm 68 kgs now yahh  Exactly 20 kgs lost on raw since the end of January, and 30 kgs lighter than my usual weight prior to that.  When I carry a heavy load of junk (15 kgs) I can see why I was not running around energetically before!!!

The junk run for today was amazing.  There were only 8 thin catalogues for each house today - I was stunned, as I'd expected a whopping load again as it was on Tuesday.  But we made the most of it and ran our little hearts out, it was blissful.  The stats (as always) are just my share of the load.  I laughed about my total weight to carry being 24 kgs - the last delivery was 70!!!!

Distance covered: 6 kms
Time taken: 1 hr 9 mins
Number of letterboxes: 150
Temperature: 25°C
Total weight carried: 24 kgs
Most weight at one time: 5 kgs
Distance jogged: approx 85%

85% jogged yahh ohyeah  Got to the end fairly wet, a little tired, but very happy and bouncy.  And David too.  He beat me significantly on the first section as I think I allowed warm up time by walking and he didn't.  His area is flat there and mine is a hill so I need the warm up, and that's OK.  In the 3rd area I beat him significantly.  He says he stopped to talk to Sam - yeah right.  I asked if Sam was a blonde because of his face and he said "No.  Tortoiseshell."  LOL

Here's an interesting link with some half right information.  But I always feel that these things made in main-stream newspapers can be shared more easily with friends and family than raw publications.
