Hi Tracey, Thanks for the info on home schooling and your kiddies. How beautiful to have a little girl after all the boys. No-one will be giving her any grief when she's older, thats for sure! Do they smother her with brotherly love!!?? Don't worry, I too have a son with the "attention span of a flea"! He doesn't do that well at school, yet is very mechanically smart. If only that were a school subject!! Give him a rubiks cube and watch him go though. He started guitar lessons recently and we are astounded at how well he's doing. And everything he learns on guitar he transfers to the piano. Even though he's never had piano lessons. Untapped genius perhaps!!!lol I am very sorry to read about your husband and can only send all my love , as you must be doing an incredible job being mother, father and teacher. You must be a very special person. I hope you have some family around for a bit of help and downtime. I too fell off the wagon yesterday and ate 2 ham sandwiches, and like you I paid!!! I felt like I had a golfball winding its way down my digestive tract all afternoon and evening!!! Good lesson to learn coz I won't do it again in a hurry! My books arrived today so I'm reading '12 Steps to Raw' which has helped me refocus. Anyway, just wanted to say hi and now I'm going back to my book. Congrats on your 100% raw day and good luck for tomorrow!!! love yummymummy xxx

Hi Tracey,
Congratulations on your 100% raw day. But more importantly, congratulations on being mum to 6 kiddies. Woh, I'm in awe. And you homeschool!!! I would love to start home schooling my kids, but I don't know if I have the staying power or the patience. My eldest is 12 and in year 7 and she keeps asking me to homeschool her but I worry I would want to choke her before lunch break of day 1!!! How old are yours and are you just doing it your way or did you get approval from the homeschool board? Sorry, lots of questions I know but I a bit torn about this. I'm not happy with either schools my kids attend yet Im scared to make this commitment, although if I did I'm sure they'd be better off. Do you have any advice for me? Are you in NSW?
love yummymummy (AKA Tracey as well!)

Hi virtualmeg, Congratulations I've just read thru your journal and its very exciting. I just found out that I'm pregnant too!! I just posted on my journal and confessed, so I thought I'd jump onto yours and wish you all the best. I know what you mean about this being so different because of being raw. I feel so happy and excited for the baby, getting such a fresh, healthy start to life. I wish I'd discovered this before I had my other 3! I'm going to start a new journal tomorrow for this pregnancy, since this was a bit unexpected and has (or will) change my raw experience! Anyway, I will keep reading your journal with interest , and a big congratulations on your upcoming wedding too!!! Happy 'growing', yummymummy xxx

Hi Emi, I'm going well thanks!!! I've been a bit slack with keeping up with the journal the past week. But I have been reading though some right from scratch, like yours and organicmama's. Very interesting and motivating. I'm at day 16 now and going strong. I struggled a little around day 12. We had a bit of a cold snap for a day or 2 last week and I had a few little slip-ups. I ate peanut butter toast 2 mornings in a row and some saos with vegemite and a vegemite roll!!! THere, I've confessed it all!!! Coulda been worse I suppose. Funnily enough I didn't feel like anything sweet like I used to have, like chocolate or coke! (although I am keeping a steady supply of fudge balls made in the fridge!!! I know you hear me RGG!!!) Anyway my wheatgrass is growing nicely and should be ready by the end of the week, with the second tray coming along a few days behind. I can't wait to start harvesting and using it! I didn't get my dehydrator yet, bought lil Jack a new bed instead, maybe next week. It's funny now, just over 2 weeks into this and I'm finding it a little bit easier. I've been doing so much reading and checking out websites. And I've ordered my 1st un-cookbook - Rawvolution, and the 12 steps to raw. Can't wait till they arrive!!!! I mean, I'm Seriously looking forward to doing some reading and some un-cooking! I've been beating around the bush, I have news! I just found out I'm pregnant! I haven't told anyone yet as I'm only about 4 weeks. I can tell you all though because you don't know me!! This will be baby #4. I'm taking a few days to come to terms with this news. This was hubby's doing (duh) and I hold him fully responsible!!! LOL He was absolutely wanting 1 more bub and I thought 3 was plenty, so this was a big step for me and I am excited its just that I make a terrible pregant person! I'm not a 'glower'. All my friends always seemed to have the 'glow' but not me! However... this time all will be different!!! I told hubby a few months ago that he had till xmas to get this happening then all bets were off! Anyway nothing happened, till now anyway, so I thought I was pretty safe! I was 2 weeks into 'Raw' when I found out so this will help keep me motivated now. I really want to see how much difference this one will be compared to the last 3 pregnancies which were all pretty much, heartburn, backache, muscle cramps, migraines etc etc etc! I'm too excited by the fact this will be a raw baby from day 1!!! I see today that someone else has started a raw pregnancy journal which I've been reading with much interest. I know how she feels, like this is going to be so special for the baby. I must put a post on there now that I've fessed up here. Anyway I think I'll end my journal here and start afresh with a new pregnancy one!!! Lotsa love yummymummy

Hi Emily, Congrats on finally jumping on the forum. I'm only fairly new too (9 days now!) and I lurked for months before I got up the coutage to do it!!! Anyway everyone will have a different way to go about this. I started 9 days ago with a 24hr water fast followed by 4 days a gs's then adding food on day 6. Although I did it cold turkey I have to say I have spent about 12 months reading, researching and prying into journals on this website. I picked the date I was going to start 3 weeks before I actually started and spent that time getting my head in order, pysch-ing up etc. I picked my start day to co-incide with the 1st day back at school after the hols so I wouldn't have the kids around (well 2 out of 3 anyway). I was definitely ready in my head which for me was going to be the biggest challenge. The main reason I started with 24HR water fast was because the day I had picked to start, my juicer hadn't actually arrived so I kinda had no choice, but I also enjoyed the challenge. I guess my best advice would be - have all the things (fresh ingredients, juicer/blender, etc) you need around you and clear out all the 'junk' from the kitchen. If you feel yourself slipping, jump on the website and read other peoples journals or have a list of goals and reasons that you've written that will re-motivate you. I find just getting on this website or some of the others out there really help to stay on track. Geez, sorry, I've got a bit to say for one so new! WElcome and I wish you all the very best!!! yummymummy xxx

Hi there, Is there anyone out there who has an organic solution for keeping the grubs off my tomatoes and broccoli plants!!! I fighting a losing battle with those little yellow cabbage moths that are eating all my broccie. I'm out there every morning and every afternoon squishing the eggs and the grubs but I just can't keep up. Not to mention the crazy %)obsessed lunatic I become if I see them flying around. I just HAVE to run out into the yard and try to clap them between my hands and they don't fly straight so this is a veeeery difficult task with a veeeeeeeery low success rate....so please HEEEEEEEEELLLLLLPPPPPPPP!!! love yummymummy xxx

Hiya Berrybliss, Love your new avatar, you're such a beautiful gal! Well, 9 days raw now and very proud of myself! Cooking for everyone else doesn't seem to bother me too much any more. Main reason being I've made my 1st batch of choc fudge balls. Goddam!!!! They are so good!!! I love dark choc and was really missing my square of Lindt I used to have each night. But now..... knowing they are there to satisfy any sweet craving I get is just brilliant!!! I had a big spend-up at the organic store today and stocked up a bit on ingredients (like cacao powder ) and was able to make delicious nori rolls with tamari sauce tonight. Soooo good! Who needs sushi!!! As for how I'm feeling.... got heaps of energy. Before raw, I used to make it to lunchtime and then the lethargy would kick in. Now I bounce along all day, fall into bed at night ready for sleep. I'm sleeping better, I wake up happy and energised!!! My skin is softer, I definitely feel happier. No great weight loss yet (so far as I can see). Can't wait till my clothes start to feel a little looser. My wheatgrass kit arrived today, i just need to pick up some potting mix and I can start growing it!!! Too excited about that. Oh, and I'm getting a dehydrator on Friday!!! Its all a bit expensive getting set up but I feel way to good to worry bout that! You can't put a price on good health now can you! Besides, I'm saving heaps of money by not buying coke (a-cola!!) and all the other junk food I used to be addicted to. As soon as I've conquered the raw recipes and doing the wheatgrass thing my mum wants me to come and visit her and teach it all to her! She's very open to the whole concept. (Poor dad, he has no idea whats coming!!!) I put mum onto Elaine Hollingsworth's book last year and she was keen to start making some changes after reading that!!! (WHo wouldn't!) I am very grateful to my friends and family for their support as I know what some of you are up against and that must make things so much harder. (Wish my kids would leave my precious fudge balls alone though!!!!!!!!!) Anyway, enough ranting, I'm off to poke into some of your journals now!!! Love yummymummy xxx

Hi alanabanana, So sorry to hear you're unwell . Sorry, but I have no advice as I'm only new to this too. I seemed to have the opposite reaction to you with the fasting. I felt so good most of the time and now that I'm eating again (raw) all I can do is think about food. When I was fasting I wasn't hungry at all but now I'm hungry all the time! I'm sure your appetite will come back soon. Stay positive! yummymummy xxx

Well there's 2 hours of my life I'll never get back!!! Have been trying to upload a photo to photobucket but nooooo success! I think the pixel amount of my photo is too high??? Its the only reason I can see for why it won't work. I have a really good camera which is fairly new and I'm still learning all about it and I've had trouble emailing photos because of the pixels. So now, before I can upload photo have to learn how to reduce pixel size. But my patience has been tested just getting this far and if I don't walk away for a while there may be swearing and tantrums! I shall try later yummymummy

Day 6! Well I can't say I'm actually on a juice fast anymore as yesterday, apart from my green juice I had an apple, a banana and a deeeeeeeelicious salad for dinner! However, its still all raw! It was very hard cooking for everyone else and smelling it whilst just having juice. So lets call this day 6 of RAW! (Makes me admire you even more BB for going so long!!! Good for you, you are very strong and motivated and are to be admired, for sure!!!) Anyway, my salad was so good; Mid afternoon I made the 1st part so the flavours could blend nicely; Finely diced spanish onion (half only) Diced outside of 1 tom (I'm not big on tomato so I always scoop out the inside) finely chopped clove garlic juice of 1 lemon splash of olive oil Cover and put in fridge till dinnertime. Then I added: half an avocado, diced half cucumber, diced bunch of mixed lettuce leaves (from my garden!) chopped into bits about 1cm x 2cm mix it all up then ate it rolled up in lettuce leaves, yummo!!! For brekky today I had watermelon juice, yummo also!!! So, I guess its fair to say, I'm not fasting but I am raw and I am yet to 'fall off the wagon'!!! Hi Pinktulip, thanks for saying hello!!! Feel free to pester me anytime! Have alovely day everyone, yummymummy xxx
