31  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / Personal Growth And Manifestation / Re: The Secret on: Wednesday 25 July, 2007
Hi Guys,

I have bought a set of CDs with the voice of Esther Hicks chanelling Abraham's teachings and started listening to it in the car on the way to work - this is a serious goosbumbs-inducing stuff! I have only listened to about 15 minutes of it - so nothing much to report yet, but will keep you posted. Have anyone already here listened to these cds ?

Yes, Rudy, the Norwegian site looks great - not sure about the content of course.

John, I am trully interested in hows and whys but am also going to consciously try techniques to manifest things. i am starting small, would like to have one thing manifested by mid september (not a huge or impossible ask, being modest for the start to tune myself fully into it). We will see. Visualisation, meditation, desire journal and gratitude journal. Any other techniques I shoudl add??

very exciting!!!

Thanks John and Rudy, i am thinking about what you said, it seems clear right now...

Thanks you for answering my questions. I think what you said John about being emtionally involved into visualising and afirming is so true - something like an emotioanlly charged affirming! Not easy to strat but once you start it gets easier - and probably belief gets stronger too....

Ps Thanks Eve for the links, I check them out in a while - you posted it while i was writing...
33  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / Off Topic Chat / Re: Chris Howard 3 Day Weekend - 2 Free Tickets on: Monday 23 July, 2007
Hi Sheryl

Thanks for making the seminar available to us for free. I actually booked a ticket for the Sydney event and also booked my plane tickets - so no way out for me.

I have seen the webpage and so I know more or less what the event is about. But have never attended anything like it before. Could you (or anyone else) please share your experience of this or similar events and the impact they had on your life. I am planning to use it to empower me to go 'freelance' with my work next year - a big step for me! Do you think this would be a helpful experience?

HI John, What I mean by levels is indivisual, family, group, community, society, earth, universe... any group in fact (miving from famil towards broader more collective levels). That's something I am pondering on - how other levels affect our individual one. We all know how family can affect us, but I feel there are many of these 'levels' that have effect on us continuosly - metaphysically and physically. And so my question was refering to how powerful our individual 'work' (to, for example, create abundance) is in a face of all the other group/collective 'works'. Does it make sense?Huh

Thanks for wanting to answer it - I will note my appreciation to you tonight in my gratitude journal.  ohyeah ohyeah ohyeah

Hi Pinktulip, to answer your question about green smoothy vs potasium broth on juice fast - I think when you just drink (without fibre) you stay in a speicifc physiological state where digestion is off. A green smoothy would have more nutrients than broth but would switch your digestion on. You know whan you fast the apetite goes right down and you don't feel hungry at all - this is what I mean. When the digestion is off the body turns to stored resources and prevents us from becoming malnourised and remaining hungry.

Hope it helps.

May - great topic - good on you for going back into raw. I have just come back from a funeral and had a slice of bread with my salad. Emotional? who, moi???

I read somewhere that Sad Charno, who is a great raw chef, started creating his gourmet dishes because eating fruit and veggies drove him into emotional emptiness that he couln't handle. Being from Italian backgroud, he felt he had to deny himself a great deal by going raw. Check some of his creation on the web - he is amazing. he may be ready to eat plain carrots now, but he is well aware of the link between food and emotions and the desire to 'love ourselves' with a cheesecake and alike.

If only I could be bothered to make all these elaborate dishes...

A tour of raw restaurants is highly on my list. may, you are coming with me, just let me get rich first - I am on my way. Or a better idea yet - I will bring a few chefs here to Australia and rent a huge place in Byron Bay for a raw feast! yay! Will put it on my dream board!

36  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / Personal Growth And Manifestation / Re: The Secret on: Monday 23 July, 2007
Hi everyone,

This is a trully fantastic topic and I thank you for all the replies and effort that goes into posting here and mulling over difficult questions.

I understand what many of you said here that it is a matter of faith and knowing than logical though, at the same time, curiosity and asking questions is what got us here in the first place, not just a blind faith. So to me there are two components, curiosity and faith, which in a way is a paradox - we believe but we also question (ask questions, whant to understand etc).

I hope I will never stop asking questions otherwise I will consider myself as good as dead. Life without child-like curiosity is not very exciting to me, and that's why I like Buddhism, where curiosity is encouraged.

But yes, I agree with John that this treat was to support positive manifesting rather than talk about misery and poverty and war. Yet these things and their meaning do call for questioning even though we know that economically speaking there is no need for poverty and misery anywhere on Earth and it is in fact people rather than the pr*&ck god that make them happen - it is still difficult to ignore them.

As to being critical of god, that was not my intention. First, I tend to think of some form of higher inteligence rather than god (too loaded) which automatically implies a set of consistent laws and rules rather than frivolous behaviour. So if anything the poverty would be a result of our actions.

Second, I was coming from a place of gratitude rather than judgement towards some frivolous god - I am trully grateful that we can engage in these discussions, read about the laws and have enough time/space in our lives to think and act upon what we learn. Majority of people wouldn't have that priviledge.

Finally, I have asked about your understanding of the 'levels' where manifestation occurs - not to open a can of ugly warms - but to think about it constructively. The fact that you and I are able to engage in these discussion is not only a priviledge but also must be a part of some higher level order that goes beyond what you or I affirm with our everyday thinking and choices. Someone here (was it John?) said it is a choice we make before we are born, on a different level. Well, it's a good explanation I guess - not refutable at this stage either.

So to summarise what I am trying to say - I am curious how the 'levels' of order in work and how the laws work through these different levels. It doesn't have to be a discussion about poverty...

John, I really enjoyed reading about your dreams - amazing story. I absolutely loved it. There is so much wisdom in children, I alsways though many 'remember' until a thorough socialising wipes it out of their memeory and then some, like you, have to re-learn to remember again. By choice?.... yeah right! requires a bit of faith to believe that!

Astrology - agree that it can only be as good as people who practice it. As with everything - most are average and less than insightful. But it doesn't take anything away from the art and science of it. As for my question - you can do a chart for the time of take off and it would show a tragedy but the individual charts of 400 passangers wouldn't. Normally if you die tragic death you would expect to have some indication of it in your transits. Anyway - don't worry, I just used it to explain my question and compleltely confused anyone. Mea culpa!

As for your question Rudy

Dorota, please can You explain the questions - re silent retreat and if I can turn now ?

You mentioned in response #60 that you were going to do (or maybe just had done) a silent retreat - I was wondering whether it was your first.

Also, i meant 'turn around' and was refering to you photo, hehe.

There was so much more I wanted to say but got blogged down temporarily and also just got back from a funeral and feel a bit sad (noone very close, but still...).

Ok, lets move to something positive now (John, you inspired me here) - maybe we can bring examples of small and big 'manifestations' to this topic.

here is my humble example: when I was starting my new job couple of years ago I felt very  socially deprived (people in my previous place where from a completely different karmic group than me!) and I spent days dreaming about meeting fantastic people, many great women especially, that I would get along with really well. It wasn't only a couple of weeks ago, at the wedding of one of my friends that I realised how many fantastic friends I made through this work, mainly women - not short of a miracle!!! Never happened before. It actually occured to me just now, reading Sandy's book (I mentioned it earlier in this topic) that it might have had something to do with my constant visualising it in a calm and slightly detached by 'excited' way. I made about eight good friends there, people I really cherish and like!  yahh  yahh  yahh

Thanks for listening...

Congratulations May - you are doing really well!

Manifesting some heating hey? That would be something. So it's cold in Perth as well? I always though Perth was a dash warmer than Adelaide....

I know what you mean by winter being easier in Europe. I only came to Australia not long ago from Poland and was never so cold before... And I came here for warmth! How ironic...

Will try to make your chips this week...
38  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / Personal Growth And Manifestation / Re: The Secret on: Sunday 22 July, 2007
Dear John, Thank you for your answer.

Astrology is a profound science! And I don't mean star sign astrology but the true art of chart casting and interpretaion. I have been studying it for years now and have a great passion for the depth of insight it offer into and dynamics of human life. It can only be as good as the insight of a practitioner though. But it tought me that not all can be explained at the level of an individual.

Now, I understand your explanation that the collective is a sum of all. But I still feel a bit unsettled by the poverty in some parts of the world and how law of attaction literature ignores it?

What bothers me is the unfairness of it all, some countries using a lot of resources and generating more poverty in other, poorer parts of the world. being it through climate change or just unequal distribution. So, lets assume that it is true that some poor countries (and their residents) are dying of hunger as a result of collective thinking. Whoes collective thinking is it? Where does it leave these poor people in terms of the law of attraction, is it their  collective thinking or of the wealthy? I undertand my brain is limited and it's difficult to logically comprehend the laws of universe. But on some level it seems extremelly individualistic, too individualistic indeed, to be The Truth. It really bugs me...

Not sure whether I explain my doubts clearly....

Dear May,

Thanks for S&V chips recipe - forgot to thank you in my pm.

I really like this topic!

Hot teas are the way to go, definitelly. I read some stuff from Shazzie's diary when she first went raw, and she was a tea queen, all sorts of herbal things. I guess England would be eve colder, brrrr...

Some people drink potassium broth in winter, which is just a vegie broth and they drink it warm or hottish. May not be as good as GS but better than pasta, I am sure. And it doesn't get you back on the addition track. I used to do juice and veggie broth for a week at a time as a detox, ages ago, and it worked wonderfully. I was doing my PhD at the time and I could keep working rather than just sleeping. In actual fact my mind felt so clear and I was still full of energy. On juice only I get really sluggish, so obvioulsy broth was sloving down the detox - never mind. If it can help us to survive winter maybe it's the way to go.

Also, I tried warm miso soup with some soaked ocean vegetables (like kelp etc). Also yum!

And yes, May, staying full is definitelly the most important thing. I always end up eating cooked or otherwise condensed food when my hanger gets out of control. Easy way to get full.

And winter is such a difficult time, you're right! Especially as cold as this one....
Love to all

Hi Stine,

You have to make sure you can visit Adelaide too, it's the most wonderful place for being a raw fooder- we have bautiful organic markets all around the place, e have an ocean and hills as well! And our peak hour lasts only 15 minutes  yahh

You will love Australia though, regardless of whether you come to Adelaide or not...

Cheers

Good topic Freelaw, I was wondering about these things myself, glad we are talking about it. I also read the stuff on waldorf pages - very inspiring, thanks Ninak.

Hi Rudy, It's such a wondeful though that we may regain the high level of in-tunness with nature. To me it seems like we are such a long way away... I wish I was as positive as you are. But apreciate you posts, as always...

Hi Missgiggles, I reread the topic again and you are right, I felt like what people were saying was a bit condescending about wanting to have money, but that's probably just me. Sorry Brett if I offended you. Sorry Rudy to you too - you did say that money is the means to freedom - cannot agree more.

Thank you John for your explanation, it helps a lot. It occur to me that I am very priviledged to be able to engage in discussion like this and read and undertand and have access to the sources of the information that may actually change my life for the better.

Actually, that you all for your responses and fantastic discussion - it started with May asking an 'innocent' question and now the topic seems to have a life of its own. It really took off, hey?

One more question though. In astrology, if there is a plane crush, passenger's charts do not show any signs of it, but the chart for the time of the take off does - so in a way the collective overrides the individual. Is it possible that there are many levels to the laws of the universe and what we individually create may be overwrote by what has been colelctively created, including cases of poverty, accidents etc. In other words, not everything works on a level of individuals only?

Do you have any thought on that?

I think I have learn a lot just reading your responses!

Rudy, is is going to be your first silent retreat?

Also, can you turn now?

 ohyeah
43  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / Personal Growth And Manifestation / Re: The Secret on: Sunday 22 July, 2007
I understand what you're saying Brett, but I disagree that money is such a bad thing and we shouldn't focus on having more or that we should work hard for it. Both you and Rudy imply that money is something that you wuld only want if you are spiritually underdeveloped. I resent this on behalf of many kind and loving souls trapped in the unfairness of this world and working their life off to build someone elses' fortunes.

Most working people get up in the morning to go to work they hardly enjoy and leave it when the day is gone, day after day. It is similar to imprisonment in many ways and the price to pay for just having enough money to pay their bills. This kind of imprisonment has been proclaimed godly and worthy by religious and other organizations that benefit from the work of others. The belief that hard work is THE godly way and it leads to character building/spiritual mastery serves to keep capitalism going. And it's all for a little money - just enough to keep you afloat.

And Brett, what exactly would hard working people have to sacrifice if they would not have to work but could still pay their bills, or work some hours a week and spend the rest of the time traveling to Paris.

The first step to freedom is to be able to pay your bills and to feel abundant without having to commit yourself to a form of imprisonment on a daily basis. And that requires money, at least in our culture! So what's wrong with focusing on having enough to soar??

Ironically, most people I know work in their spare time doing what they absolutely love while they earn money through something they find half boring (at least). Very few of these people would stay idle if they were given freedom to do what they like. Some of them, I am sure, would do amazing things!

what is stopping them is lack of moneymoney, but also, as the Secret would have it, their beliefs around where the money comes from and what is the meaning of work. Our judgement and social / cultural value we unconsciously place on certain activities shape the way we think about work, money and the meaning of life in general. What I think the literature around law of attraction is saying is that there is no need to be and do what we absolutely hate doing (or even what we just slightly dislike doing) but what we think we NEED to do in order to survive/ be nice/ good/ godly/worthy etc.  We can reflect on our underlying beliefs and change them if necessary to achieve greater freedom and liberate ourself to do what we would rather do, at least most of the time.

However, is this true that we can actually free ourselves to do what we love, enjoy and want to do ?

Or maybe it's like what we know of great artists. The popular belief is that great artists had and would always find ways to survive to do what they trully love - a theory of talent being a force that enable people to overcome obstacles and create resources etc. But these who know art history are aware that majority (great majority!) of artists were from wealthy families to start with and that's why they were able to engage with art in the first place. They didn't have to work in factories and mines (unless they wanted to for social experiments). In other words being socially priviledged enabled them to be artists, not other way around. [This is one of the resons why there was so few women artists (and many of these who succeded had vary supportive fathers and usually no brothers so fathers put all their ambitions in the daughters) - there were other factors of course, not relevant here.]

How do we know the law of attraction can work on all, maybe the results are there for these only who are priviledged to start with anyway? Like most (even though not all) people in the western world?

I guess I have my doubts sometimes - part of the journey, I guess....

44  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Re: Avoid cooked pitfalls / increase raw % - posts by 'members' only on: Sunday 22 July, 2007
May, this is such  a fantastic topic!!! I am also glad I am not the only one that struggles to stay afloat! I was home on my own for a couple of weeks and cleaned out all the cooked stuff from my fridge and filled it in with fruit and veggies. Then my partner came back and asked me to cook him a vegie lasagne, which I do really well, apparently, and so I did. I didn't have any and had not desire to have it so we gave most of it away. I was surprised how easy it was this time... not for long..

A few days later I was particularly cold and hungry, very hungry as I forgotten my salad for lunch and only had fruit (so was craving savory foods a lot!) and he cooked some pasta with simple tom souce and I had some. I only planned to have a spoonful but ended up having more. I also had a big salad that night but still found it difficult to give up cooked since then (it was about 4 days ago). The cravings are back. The worst part is that both my partenr ad I used to LOVE cooking and we are both very good at it. We are quite hedonistic but thankfull, I got to the point when I appreciate the taste and flavour of veggies and fruit much more than cooked foods - cooking does kill the taste! but at the same time, my parner wants to eat cooked and he cooks well too, and it is so nice to be fed when i come back from work....

So here i am.. still struggling 3 years after learning about raw.

My solution in 'search for hope' was to start making raw soups with very warm water in them I figured this is still better than cooked and the water is not boiling. Carrot, celery, tom-capsicum, broccoli, yum! I add avocados, coconut meal, nuts and seeds and a lot of spices. Everyone loves them and can't believe they are raw.

Another thing I try to do is to make sure I am never hungry.

I also read somewhere that it is easier to fall off the wagon before your period (sorry guys!) when you are PMTed. It's true for me.

Whoever metioned chips, could you please share the recipe here. please please.

Dorota

Hi Rudi,

This is in relation to your comments on Pluto being in the galaxy centre this year. Thanks for reminding me of that!

From my knowledge of astrology it will mostly affect these who have peronal planets in or around 28 degrees Sagitarius, and to some degree these with planets around 28 degrees of Gemini, Virgo or Piesces. Any other 28 degree planet (in other signs) may be affected too, as well as 13 degrees Taurus, Scorpio, Leo or Aquarius. It doesn't have to be the Sun only, can be The Moon, Venus, Marcury, Mars or even jupiter of Saturn in one'w personal chart. The way people will beaffected would also differ depending on several factors to do with personal chart and how far has the person developed so far (how far the 'potential' in the chart has been developed).

Statistically, there would be quite a few people personally affected by the transit of Pluto - which symbolically has to do with rebirth (and death) and personal, but more importantly also collective transformation. Would these many personally affected act as catalysts for collective change? An example of such bottom - up movement is the Australian Get-up, wherein individuals (tired of lying and short sighted politics) organized a 'people's movement' to push cetrain policitcal agendas. Very Pluto in the galaxy centre. Would be interesting to look into charts of these heading the movement....

If you or anyone else wants me to check your planets for coinciding with galaxy centre and Pluto transit - send me a pm with your date and preferably time and place of birth...

Dorota
