4  FAQ - Check Here for the most common Answers! / Raw Food FAQ / Re: Sore mouth on: Tuesday 22 May, 2007
hi all--

i've also had relatively mild detox, also probably attributable to a raw-ish vegetarian diet to begin with -- but mouth sores were definitely something i experienced!!  they are gone now (although my face is positively covered in red bumps now -- eww!) so i hope they will vanish for you as well.  i found it hard to eat acidic fruits and veggies (tomatoes, citrus, pineapple) while they were in my mouth, so perhaps avoiding them will help.  if biting the sores becomes a big problem (and we do have to do a lot of chewing, don't we??) then perhaps non-acidic smoothies would be a good choice.

hang in there!!

hi emi,

thanks for the hello!!  yeah i'm not giving up yet -- just hanging in there.  in a way i guess i'm sort of excited (although i wish my tummy would calm down, lol) ... i haven't had a whole lot of 'detox' yet but i know i've got a lot of toxins to unload!  i'll stay strong!

hi jjelf and lesbc!  thanks for the warm welcome!!!  jjelf, i love your hair -- i was just reading about your hair experiences in the other thread, and you look truly lovely.  i wish i had the face to pull that look off, but i think my head is not the right shape (and my ears -- well let's just say that i've been called an elf myself because they are rather pointy!)  lesbc, hehe no i am not a southie... i'm from new york originally, i just go to school in boston.  i can do the accent pretty well by now though, after four years here!  are you from boston?

smiles,

hi everyone!

just wanted to poke my head in to say hello and how are you...  i absolutely love the vibe on these boards and it makes me wish i were an aussie too!  sadly i'm american, stranded up here in boston, finishing my degree, and beginning the raw journey!  i've been popping in and out for a while now and just wanted to be less of a lurker.  i've posted a few questions in the "Raw FAQ" section of the site, and i do hope to post more on here!!  i'm just starting out (it's day 22 high-raw for me) so i have heaps to learn and would love to learn from you!!

hugs from up north,

9  FAQ - Check Here for the most common Answers! / Raw Food FAQ / Hi everyone! A few questions: food combining, detox on: Tuesday 22 May, 2007
Hi everybody!

I've been lurking on these boards for a little while now, and decided to step out of the woodwork and introduce myself, as well as asking a few questions.  I'm 22, about to graduate from college, and will begin studying for my PhD next year.  I've been high-raw for a little over three weeks now (since I'm at uni it's often hard to eat all-raw in the dining halls) and recently one or two issues have cropped up for me.

Eating raw has been mostly great -- I feel good, sleep well, have toned up a bit (not much weight to lose but I definitely feel more streamlined), and previous digestive issues were much better when I was eating raw food.  Yet in the past couple of days I've had a sudden flare-up of digestive problems (tummy ache, bloating, etc.) and my face has absolutely ERUPTED in little red spots -- and I almost never get acne!!

I'm not really sure what can be causing these sudden issues (around day 20 or so of high-raw), since I haven't changed much in the past few days and if anything am eating higher raw and better "combined" than before!  The only thing I can really think of is that I introduced green smoothies a few days ago, and LOVED them, but think I may have overdone the 'greens' portion a bit.  Is this just detox?  From what I've read that would explain the spots, but I can't understand the sudden tummy problems.  I've cut out nuts, did a short fast to give my system a rest, and have been more vigilant about food combining than ever before... what else could be going on?

Thanks so much in advance for your help -- the positive personalities and great community on here are just amazing, and I'm so excited to be able to 'join' this raw community, even if I (miles away in foggy Boston) am literally on the other side of the globe!!

Big raw hugs,
Eleaire Smiley
