31  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Water footprint on: Friday 25 January, 2008
Never thought about this side of things much, but here seems to be yet another advantage of raw. Though we are not footprint free at least we are doing a good job when you compare apples to beef! However, coconuts aren't that innocent either... 2% of the global water use for crop production.   Undecided

Would be interesting to see a calculation of the average water footprint of a SAD and a raw diet.

Thanks a lot you two! Great info! I guess I'll so do some experimenting. I remember putting the juice from that plantain on stinging nettle burns as a kid back in Denmark (probably similar climate to Tasmania). Never knew you could eat it though... Guess a green smoothie with stinging nettles and plantain would be a perfect mix then! No burning tongue Tongue

Hi Bumble Bee,

It seems to happen to quite a few raw ladies. Here are some links to past discussions:

(and no, I don't mean that kind!)

I live in Sydney, and organic greens are expensive and not readily available. I try to buy at the farmers markets, but it's kind of tricky to bulk buy greens, as they tend to loose their life force pretty quickly!

After reading Victoria Boutenko's 'Green for Life' (which I loved! Green smoothies rock!!! yahh) I realised there are soooooo many lovely green weeds out there that we can eat or blend. Unfortunately past dandelion I don't really know which ones...

I don't have a garden, but am joining a community garden, and today is my first working bee. Very excited and can't wait to get my hands dirty!

My plan is to take home weeds from the garden and use in my green smoothies. It would be great if people could help me out by posting names and pics of which ones are edible.

Thanks a million! Lou

Thanks for the great links!

I was wondering whether it is still possible to use the thermal lunar rhythm method if you don't have your period. Have any of you ladies, who have stopped menstruating on raw, still successfully used the method? Would be really interesting to hear your experiences.

Holistic dentist might be a good idea. Anyone know a good one in Sydney?

Hello beautiful people!

Been raw for about 2.5 months, and following the forum from the sidelines has been invaluable! I have been able to find an answer, or should I say an exchange of views, on pretty much any question that popped into my mind during this time of discovery.

I am very happy with the way I am eating and the way I am feeling, apart from one noticeable drawback. My teeth! They have become incredibly sensitive and have started to hurt loads. In particular if eating anything sweet or cold. Dried fruit is excruciating (which is just as well, and no great loss), but even fresh fruit is no picnic. A cucumber straight from the fridge is impossible, but even one less cold feels like ice. Anyone else had this experience? Any ideas why or how to change it? Could it be the sugar from all the fruit? Acid from the fruit?

I eat a pretty much low-fat raw diet, with the odd avocado thrown in, and lots of green smoothies. Read that it is good to mix the smoothie or juice with your spit before swallowing, since it is not chewed, but am wondering whether this might harm the teeth more.

Looking forward to continuing the journey with you all!

Warmth, Lou
