3  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Beauty / Re: All Natural Hair? on: Tuesday 03 June, 2008
This is my third attempt. I first tried back in october last year but I had long hair at that stage and I was trying to grow the chemical crap out. So dark oily roots just looked Blaaah.
Early December my natural colour was about an inch and a half long so whacked it all off. I thought this was the perfect opportunity to give no poo a go again. Hubby and I did a month long trip around the Sth Island which involved lots of camping and hiking...Ahhh it was pure bliss. And the haircut and no poo was working in so well. Until I went and stayed with mum for a few weeks. Had I not told her about it she probably would never have known. Unfortunately I thought I would share my excitement of our natural life with her and the extents we we go to (I have no idea why i thought this would be wise, shes never supported any of my ideas) so of course she went on and on and made me more and more self conscious about it until I broke and started washing it again. Thankfully not long after, I moved back to Japan and back to my supportive husband. Where I can be myself and hopefully gather the strength to stop giving a damn about what other people think.  nope
So that brings me to the present. Ive been no poo for a little over 8 weeks,  its usually pretty good, sometimes it just doesnt cooperate at all but I think that's due to the fact my hairstyle is in a horrible 'in between stage' and really needs some sort of style.

I just read today in 'neals yard' book a dry shampoo treatment.

1tsp orris root
2 tsp arrowroot
2 tsp dried herbs (choose what is best according to your hair type)
Mix together and grind to a fine powder in a pestle & mortar. Rub the powder into wet hair and then rinse out.
4  FAQ - Check Here for the most common Answers! / Raw Food FAQ / Help! Durian peoples!! on: Sunday 25 May, 2008
sos While I was home in NZ over xmas, I experienced my first DURIAN  ohyeah Ive been in Japan for 4 years now and never come across one here......until yesterday!!!! Here! In the supermarket!!
So with glee I paid topped dollar rushed it home to my husband (who had never seen one before). We fondled it, tapped it and then couldnt wait any longed...We started hacking at it. Now I was sure the one I opened back in NZ was much more cooperative! Sure enough when we split it in half I realised it wasnt ready   downcast
Ive searched the net to see if I can save it in anyway possible (I did learn how to know when one is ripe...noted). I read you can bake unripe durian into some pretty decent chips, but I dont do baked or even dehydrated so thats no good to me...... Will it die if I leave it to ripen?
Any help on the matter would be so greatly appreciated!
Much love
Sarah
