i have eaten at 2 raw-friendly places in maryland in the last week or so. here's where they are and what i had and what i thought of them...
The Yabba Pot~ 771 Washington Blvd, Baltimore beautiful artwork adorns the walls in this 2-story eatery. i enjoyed an Earth Bowl for $9 which included my choice of 3 raw sides (the owner's daughter, Maya, suggested i try the curried spinach, okra, and carrot tuna), a limonade, and a cucumber punch (wound up getting 2, i liked it so much!). the drinks come in 16 & 20oz servings and range in price from $2.50-$3.50. service was friendly and food was good! if you go during the week (we went on wednesday afternoon), i suggest going early as they get busy for lunch and wind up running out of things- or you can go for supper when they've "restocked". everything on the menu is vegan but not everything is raw, so ask first!
Chicken Out Rotisserie~ 10116-B River Rd, Potomac though noisy when busy, this small establishment offers comfortable seating for eating-in though take-out seems to dominate their customer base. they have coloring menus and crayons for the kids though the wait is minimal. i really enjoyed the lettuce wrap, which is advertised with 2 choices of marinated chicken filling. the manager had no problem leaving it out and instructed his staff to double-up the veggies, then charged me for an item on the menu that cost less then the wrap. be sure to ask for the wrap without the chicken, tortilla strips, and cheese and the dressing on the side. it also has corn, which is cooked but it tasted more like thawed frozen corn. they also have a decent garden salad which is only veggies. again, ask for the dressing on the side. for an eatery that caters not only to meat-eaters but to the cooked majority, they were extremely accomadating to me and didn't even make faces or gestures about my choices. happily surprised with it all!
