Hello to you all,
I was wondering if anyone knew a good nutcracker to buy for macadamias - in Australia preferably!
Will a regular nutcracker do?
I was sure I saw a funky one for sale here at Raw Pleasure but now think I may have been hallucinating.
Any tips would be most appreciated!

JLK.

Hi JLK - you were right!!! We had run out of stock so it had turned off. I've turned it on again... if you would like one let me know and I'll bring in more stock.

I did the numbers a couple of years ago, and after 10 kg of macadamias the cracker has paid for itself (it's much cheaper and fresher to do them yourself). I just love them!

Cheers,
Sheryl

hi JLK,
i got a good one from the Midland farmer's markets for $15. It's kinda a budget version of the Bonk macadamia cracker thats a bit more expensive but i think it wuld b worth it. I saw the original Bonk cracker at David Jones....i'm sure other kitchen appliance stores would have it too.
It is triangular in shape, made from black metal and has a kinda screw bit in the point of the triangle that crushes the nut. You can only use them for macadamias.

Hope this helps,
em

i sooo prefer inshell maccas to out of shell. cos most shops dont keep em air tight and they go rancid.

i was eating maccas of the trees in adelaide the other day and using a brick to pop em open on the pavement.

the bonk is great. as is a bench vice.

but the cracker on this site is the easiest to use. like if you wanted to crack a few for a sauce, pate etc. this cracker is a cracker!

(avoid tipping shells were barefoot housemates walk! ive learned the deep garden is best for disposal!)

Thank you one and all! I went out and got a bonk - uh - nut cracker that is.
But would like to see what the ones you had were like Sheryl - the bonk is pretty time consuming! It is like a vice so all that twisting and turning is doing my wrists in!
If they aren't too much - maybe you could email the details or picture and I'll get one and give the bonk to Zoe - my girlfriend.

So nice to know you guys are all here doing your thing!
Thanks again,
JLK.
