Hi everyone...

well, went to the melbourne vegetarian/vegan evening that was organise...i was the only one there from rawpleasure forum, but was so so great to meet awesome people and get some great contacts, websites, food idea etc etc!!

it was in brunswick (north melb suburb), and starting time was 5:30pm. i didn't get there until about 6:15, as i was bentley (south melb suburb) catching up with some friends. anyway...there were 17 people there including myself. a couple were raw food, or had been raw food at one stage, but all were vegetarian or vegan. we each had to take something to share and eat, so there was a vast array of delicious looking dishes!! mmm.....yummo!!

so much colour and choice. ranging from salads, dehydrated crackers, dips, carob balls, fruit....it was heaven! then sophie gave a fermentation demonstration, so i was ready with eyes trained on the process and ears on what she had to teach us all! also had the pen and paper at the ready. she has been a vegetarian for 22 years and worked at hippocrates health centre for 2 years (www.hippocrates.com.au), so was very interesting.

we were told how much time is best to soak nuts. just a few examples - almond 12hr. walnut 6hr. hazelnut 4-6hr. sunflower seed 2-4hr. cashew 2-4hr. lentils at least 12hr.

we were told that wheat grass implant are better than actually drinking wheat grass, as the implants allow better absorption. this requires fasting and colon flush out though...so not sure who would be up for that...heehee.

one of the guys that i met there, scott, makes raw chocolate here in melb. he imports the fermented cocoa beans from mexico...was very interesting guy to chat to. website is www.livingearth.com.au, and he only sells online at this stage. i can say first hand - it's GOOOOOD!!!

another girl, Meghan works for Vegan Revolution, www.veganrevolution.com.au.

just thought i'd pass on this information to you all. i had the best time...will put some pics on here too. i have a very full belly from trying all the different things, but it was just so much fun! laughs!

i made a 'raw rainbow salad' and a 'creamy Avo-tom-ley-erb' dip/dressing. first time i've attached pics on here...so hope it works! fingers-crossed. xx Hann  smiley

Hi Hann, sounds like a super and fun night -- I enjoyed the pics.  That's cool you met a lot of interesting and like-minded people as well.

The rainbow salad and avo dip sound delicious.  The salad looks so colorful!  Awesome job.

What did the fermentation demo consist of?

thanks for replies my dear raw buddies...

fermentation demo we were shown the process of lentils to sprouts. soak lentils 12 hours. then cover so in darkness for 12hrs. then sit in sunlight (on an angle and in strainer, so can continue to drain) - summer 1 day, winter approx 3 days. depending on how sunny etc. just make sure they don't get dehydrated though. then once you can see a little 'tail', refidgerate and tra-laa!!!

also, for those who eat nut...we were shown how to make nut milk, and nut cheese. very simple and easy process.
put approx 300ml water in blender, along with a few handfuls of almonds, or nut of choice (we were also shown sunflower seeds, walnut and almond). blend until milk like in colour and texture. you can either drink this then, or place in a jar and allow to sit for several hours. After one hour, you will beable to see it start to ferment - air bubbles look throught it, with a liquid on the bottom as it separates. depending on the state of fermentation you desire, the different amount of time you let it sit. longer, more fermented...etc. just scoop out the more solid 'cheese' on top, and you can eat it straight, mix in with salad, smoothie...so many options. the liquid on the bottom can be drunk as well - it may take awhile to get used to tast - esp if it is well fermented!!  smiley

yeah....oh, that chocolate was soooo good! yum yum. but have my banana and date 'icecream' that i'm looking forward to this afternoon after work. hm....gim-me, gim-me, gim-me!!  smiley smiley

Man, I have been busy.

I have just finished a 5 week intensive training in my Feldenkrais studies.  Only 1 and a half years to go!!!  Its huge, I am loving it soo much.  Its amazing the human potential this method can bring up.  I start up classes next week at the Melbourne City Baths - looking forward to that!  I am looking forward to teaching people what I have learnt.
Yep, love it awesome, I think everyone in the world should be doing it.

What else?? well, I am working on a number of Raw projects.  I have my catering business, going well, I am doing a function on Wednesday for Royal Selangor.  So its Malaysian inspired food.   Half of the menu is RAW!!  They wont notice!!!  ha!!  And like always it will be the first to go.

I made these really yummy, chocolate coated ginger lychees.  Yeah, they are pretty spesh!

I am going to start manufacturing Raw Crackers, including other seed based products.  So a lot of my time is going into that.  Sheryl is helping me out a bit - eagerly waiiting her return!!
>>> Do you eat seeds Neet?  Crackers, cookies??

I am really excited more so, to get it out there into the general public, to get them transitioning off bread products.
Providing the healthier alternative.
Flax seeds are really good for you.  Omega, omega omega!!!  Good for cleansing too!
For those Raw foodies that want to sample, they will be made using ingredients that are fresh, raw and living, I dont use irritants such as garlic, onion or spices.

Fresh vegies, and herbs.

What else can I tell you???

Peaches are good.  So are bananas.  I like oranges this week.

Oh yeah!!!

I had my wisdom teeth out on Thursday.  Fine no problems.  I had no drugs, she yanked them ouut and I was back at school that day!!!

She gave me several scripts for drugs like panadeine forte and something else, but there was no pain at all.
So, I didn't dare take anything.
I kind of wished I went to a hippie dentist instead, next time!!
In any case my teeth are all good, cavity and filling free.

I reckon the drugs people take makes the healing processes slower, not only masking the pain.

yeah, so that was an interesting case study...

RAW POWER!!  - thats what my friends call me! ha!

tell me about you.  Are you fasting till may16?
you should be called WillPower.
xxpaul

Have you seen the RAW movie link on youtube? http://youtube.com/watch?v=ynXGA6fCEgU
