its a question i get often.but after over 2.5 years 100% raw vegan and remembering how i felt compared to how i feel now? remembering the increase i had in vo2max i got when i went raw...etc etc.

i did my years of transitioning between cooked vegan and raw vegan. you think the dude that holds the volume eating record of 5 gourmet tofu burgers at australias longest running vegan cafe (vego n lov'n it, rundle st, adelaide) would give up cooked food without some hardcore personal experimenting to forge new beliefs based on my own conclusions?

i can eat the same amount of calories from fruit as i did cooked food to fuel my training and feel better off...its win win for me. win, win for the organic farmers, win win for the extra trees(animal habitat) needed, win win for the water and environment saved. win win for planetary karma.

sure i can hang with my cooked mates and some of their vegan dishes smell nice and familar. but it ends there. its just a smell now. for me fruit smells better, tastes better, feels better and i live better for it. as a vegan, having my calories coming from fruit trees which support animal life instead of cutting down trees to plant mono grain crops..it makes sense. those that dont believe me or dont want to believe me can just go spend a few days in either..youll see what i mean.

but seeing the lame excuse for fruit in most supermarkets worldwide...i dont blame crew for freak'n when they think thats the schwag they got live off..im talking hardraw, foraged, or local or organic gourmet flava, taste bud kick'n fruit that totally changes your personal references of what that fruit should taste like..

granted i know that many crew live in non fruit areas..do what you can do. heck ive had people come back from thailand and say' oh it would be hard to be raw there!' lol!

i say, 'a raw miracle is simply a shift in perception'..

its easy for me cos ive set up my lifestyle to support my lifestyle. i mingle with like minded crew. my main competition in radelaide for quality fruit is freelea, i know that my family is sincere yet sincerely wrong when they give me health advice as they take drugs to numb reality, pain and or cooked health issues.

i know that i live in a cooked society that not only accepts cooked but encourages it via tv, radio, mail, street smells, festivals, holiday traditions etc. i must continue my time in raw nature as a reminder that the world is meant to be raw, that everyone was born raw and raw is our birthright. just as free food and shelter should be avaliable to all. but it isnt..cooked corporations are to blame. corporations that rely on public ignorance and chronic apathy.

i also understand that most people live in a family, relationship, community, work setting that opposes raw. just like in the days when smoking was more accepted and you couldnt speak out. times are a chang'n and tell the crew that make diss your food choices that youll be chang'n decks if they dont start accept'n you for whom you are.

society seems to be stuck in war filled strife while some of us choose to live the raw filled life. i guess it comes down to wanting it. like anything in life, raw is worth working for.

if we dont stand for something, we stand for nothing.

this is what i call bite sized baby! a foraged ripe persimmon...

Exactly one year ago I was in the West Indies at the cricket world cup eating chicken, fried fish, hamburgers and *ing it up with heaps of beer and rum. I had been heading towards a natural diet before west indies but I decided to forgoe it for one last time.  Worst thing I ever did.  The last night I ever consumed alchohol I also had cocaine.  I got extremely ill days later and my life had the choice of going in one direction or another. I took a stand.

Within a month or two of returning home I was 100% 80/10/10. Best decision I ever made. I have met some of the best friends I could ever have. My body is now on the path to ripped .. rawing to go, I can perform handstands, swing my bodyweight around in every direction on monkey bars/ pull up bars etc.. I ran two marathon length runs in consecutive days out running on my own, I shop 300km from my home bulk at organic markets,  I work in an office at a desk for 8 hours a day but I get sun everyday and all the sleep I desire.  But I fit it all in, everything I want to do and it can work - QUICK - STRAIGHT AWAY - 100% - if you are determined to make it work!!! If that is your goal.

The secret is calorie intake. If you have sufficient calories there are no cravings.  Most people in raw are not consuming enough calories and they are making it hard for themselves with 'constant cravings'.

The second secret is training your subconscious to focus on the positive part of the raw journey. People are training their conscious through willpower but it is not making it through to the subconscious which is where the sabotage comes in.  The urges to eat cooked food, the binge sabotage

There is a certain fear with going 100% raw. Its like diving off a height.   Once you take the leap, you realise it was the best thing you ever did. You just had to close the eyes and dive in.

Who do you want to be?
Where do you want to go?
The quickest way there is from A to B,  not via Z.

Yep! Don't I know it ha ha!  Yep, I am all for trying anyway. I think curiosity is one good reason.  Smiley

<<f we dont stand for something, we stand for nothing. >>

Yep, but (no but yeah but no but yeah but lol!) raw is not everything. Love is. The most beautiful souls out there are defined not by being raw but by being the most loving beings.

This is a question i also seem to get alot, and is one i tend to fairly regularly ask myself.

I guess its too early in, but my honest answer is i dont know. Thing is though its working so well for me i cant see myself going back to cooked.

rofl   Why would I ever go back to a cooked diet when I can go to a rawfood potluck and be surrounded by vibrantly handsome men Huh!!!

In the last 3 years of being mostly raw and attending Sydney potlucks I have met some incredibly energetic, good-natured males who take pride in their bodies and, through raw food become individuals that we could all aspire to be.  Raw men are an asset to the world -   Go guys.

Nothing against the girls   laugh    but I used to think it was mainly the females who gravitated towards this kind of lifestyle, glad I am wrong.........

i've been away from what people call 'home' long enough to follow this dream of lifestyle... and haven't  gone back to cooked - this with or without maximal calorie intake JIM (even i share the idea behind)...

it is known that 'a prophet is not accepted in his own country'... i feel more respected when in solitude, and more alive, vibrant here...

Raw helps you to find the place of your dreams and brings you to the understanding that every single tree and grass on the Earth can be your 'Home'...

question: would i go back to cooked?
