I clearly see in Melb post the position of her feeling superior to Harley putting him down, stating that thre is no hope to get him on higher level etc, this also implicates that Melb is sure that her level is better or higher than Harley etc.
higher/lower level is in the perception - I've said Harley seems to want a wider audience, if he wants a wider audience he needs to refine his approach.  Is a wider audience a higher level?  Maybe, maybe not, it's in the judgment of the person doing the judging.   I do think the higher/lower/better/best level perception is less of a concern for people raised in the Australian culture than some other more structured cultures, if anything Australians have a tendency to think other people are above them and cut them down, there is even a well recognised cultural term of the tall poppy syndrome, the Australian tradition is get everyone on the same level, only a sporting hero is excused. Applying external values of higher/lower might not be applicable.

All this you are holding yourself higher than Harley stuff seems to be holding me to a higher level than Harley, even if the 'higher' is semantics.  It is totally acceptable for Harley to expect people to change to 811rv or else they are labeled traitors to the cause.  811rv seems to be a change in approach to food from how most people think of food, they are changing their approach, it's ok to expect people to do that.  Expecting Harley to facilitate that change for more people if he tempered his delivery is an unacceptable change.  I really don't understand why one set of values is applied to Harley and another set of values is being applied to me.

in case Harley is pushed out silenced etc, those peopel who were confronted by Harleys existence and refused to deal with their own personal reason for the conflict
I'll use Harley's line of I love a good debate, some people seem to think of that as conflict, their perception, what are they responding to that makes them view it like conflict?

I think the major difference we have Rudy is that you seem to think time is more meaningful than a convenient unit of measure to box things in. If all is one, how can one be pushed out? Most people use the past and the future to box in now with what it is meant to be like, is that better than those that don't? It's different.  Harley reaches 10 people vs Harley reaches 100 people (and those 10vs100 are those responding in an affirmative manner) Maybe 10 is better than 100, though Harley's rhetoric doesn't seem to indicate that he believes that. I'm willing to accept that his contract is just to reach the chosen 10 with his chosen delivery. Doesn't mean I don't appreciate a good debate.

I had a Native American medicine woman here recently, plus everything else, we did a lot of touristy things, she got to meet all kinds of people, I left her alone out in touristy locations, she talked to people everywhere.  She could not get over how accepting everyone was, she said it was the first time she didn't feel treated like a mixed blood native that looks white, and she has traveled all over the world (there is a traditional Native American legend that a spider will make the world one, they think that means the web will do it so they are traveling around the world a LOT now).  She couldn't figure out what it was that was so different at first, but eventually figured out it was people weren't looking down on her as a mixed blood, or almost as bad, putting her on a pedestal as a medicine woman, yes, her stuff that she generally feels people are judging her for one reason or another, but she felt higher/lower in the Australian culture didn't mean the same as elsewhere, higher/lower were the same, just different.

yeah, uv radiation will cause sun damage which will show up as wrinkles after the age of 30 when the connective tissue in the skin stops being replaced as quickly as it forms. Pigment in the skin acts like a built in sunblock and protects the lower layers from the uv radiation.   Jojoba acts as an SPF 8 sunscreen, not much but better than nothing..... most wrinkles after 30 are a result of sun damage, go to England and even though they may smoke they will look years younger than the Australian the same age, difference is sun damage.

I have a girlfriend who was born and raised in Denmark. She has been in Oz for about 6 years I think. Her hubby was advised to go and have his skin checked for cancers and so she thought she would go too! They took one look at her skin and said, "you were not raised in Australia hey!"

Well der... I thought the accent would give it away. Anyhoo, they said her skin was comparable to a 7 year old Australian childs.... she is amazing. Looks about 22 and is 39 this year I believe.

Melb You offering interesting discussion, however I feel that is running away from the issue.

So I will answer only 1 point from Your post :

If You personaly feel, that 100 people needs to be reached, helped etc, and You feel that Harley is reaching and helping only 10. (and I repeat, that is only Your interpretation, but You have to go with what You believe is the truth), than all I can say is :

thouse 90 left out without Harley help is not Harleys responsibility, but it is Yours. It is Your duty to take of those 90, so dot try to put them on Harleys shoulders, do Your job.

Perhaps You can divide them into group of 10 and get another 8 anti Harley people to take teh job as well, so all of You would have only 10 people top look after, exactly as Harley does.

yup sun damage is a biggie..yes the sun is life giving and vital to thrive...but not to be overdone...i have always looked after my skin...to the chagrin of alot of raw foodies i use to hang with...yup! im vain i dont want to look like a leather bag....i see people who are 15-18 years younger than me...with lines and wrinkles i dont have...

and you dont need to have botox to have good supple unlined(or virtually unlined skin over age of thirty)

my hubby is outdoors every single day..yes he has beautiful olive skin..but i look after his skin for him,and he eats high raw..but not anal bout it..and his skin is gorge...he looks around 30 and hes 43...(and smokin hot...he he)

Melb you have lots of good info...i enjoy the read thank you

Rudi you are crazy and fun though

june 2008, where is your head at?

bp: yeah, give me them kids for a week and i will have em raw. i will submerse them into the raw world. show em where their meat, milk, fishes, eggs etc come from. show em what it takes to put blood on the table for dinner. show em the fruit forrest that was smashed down to create the rice paddy, wheat field etc. show em pictures of extinct animals cos of livestock, grain industry etc. let em watch earthlings again and again. drive it home strong. cos the average US child recieves about 10 000 food advertisments a year via media marketing.. so we gotta combat that with something real and honest.

kids are receptive at a young age. i read 'fast food nation' recently. it had a stat that said '80% of childrens dreams are about animals' thats why marketing has barney, big bird, telletubbies etc. as humans are wired to be vegan, and we can see this in kids that love to go to the childrens petting zoo. what kid is jumping the fence and biting into the goat or running over to the chook pen and guzz'ln eggs..exactly. but take the same kids to a fruit orchard and i have done this..its wonderful.

so what we do is show kids the TRUTH, instead of wrapping them in cotton wool and feed'n em cheese and egg sandwich THEN trying to change their diet when they are adults and have all the hang ups adults are known for....

lets get to the kids before total numbing talks hold. people say' you cant force those children to eat like you do!' my reply to that is 'what right do we have to feed em anything but the best? science proves it and raw plant nutrition has it.'

we all know genetics play a big role in our health and appearance. am i six food tall cos my mum feed me powered milk? no its cos my mum is 6ft tall. we share exactly the same shoe size. the plant is only as good as the seed..i aint gonna get blonde hair on my scalp. i wont grow more than a handful of hairs on my chest and have zero on my back. is that cos of my diet or genetics? having said that, we can all get better naturally. we can all achieve our natural best according to nature. i understand i would win more races if i was talking testostorone and ephidrine like most of the other riders. but im happy to push natures envelope, not the pharmacutical one.

i saw an elephant walking down the street the other day. in nature this would happen naturally. but in a cooked world we must force animals to come to us, cos we are out of touch with raw synchronicity. anyway, the elephant had wrinkled skin. anyone got any tips to make my elephant friends more 'magazine cover 'worthy?

the whole cosmetics industry is based on setting impossible standards and making people feel deficient or guilty for not consuming what they vomit. guess what industry buys most of the photoshop computer software technologies?
its like the alcohol industry with their adverts of people having fun under the influence. we know its a scam and their is no 'party animal' just as their is no 'wrinkle free' mammal in nature.

and we all know that the face looks like that is truly healthy. give me a fat person at age 60 they will have less wrinkles than most at 20.

we must severly question the indoors lifestyle. how crazy is society when it says 'oh your 60 now, your out of the race champ, please take off your number and hand it over.' heck women are made to feel guilty for hitting 30 these days! lol!

can you see how these cosmetic industrys create dependency on their product by creating an impossible standard?
where is the rock star in a wheelchair? the model with 3rd degree burn scars, the car advert couple that are dwarfs, the fitness model with one arm...

durianrider says life your live like nature intended and give these corporate scammers the big finger.

Well I don't question the outdoors lifestyle as much as I do the lack of shade. If we didn't chop down all the shade trees...ie, fruit trees, we wouldn't need sunglasses, gazebos, awnings, umbrellas and all that crap. I think we were meant to have it all. Outdoors And Shade. I love Shade. Subdivisions might as well be deserts to me....except with houses, and people. With cute little baby trees, pruned just so at birth, so no child will ever be able to reach a branch and feel the joy of climbing to the top. ....ok....enough said about shade. ....feeling kind of weird and sick tonight, burning my hand in the fire I guess it's called.

Well...I am actually done with this forum thing, but first, lol....yes, textbooks are weird places, that offer plenty of great things, often backed up by science right there, but you do need to think critically and keep on your toes....as with everything.

As for Harley, and your post on kids. While this approach could be seen as coersion and not dictatorship, which is good... and I do agree it would be very effective in the moment (the week), sort of...depending on the kid, I do see some problems.

In no particular order of priority they would be that some kids, actually a lot of kids I know up close (which is a lot of kids as my house is a revolving door of kids around the neighbourhood for the last almost twenty years), Do in fact have hangups. In fact, I think kids can have more hangups than adults, since having travelled outside their comfort zone so much Less in life. I know kids who are such picky eaters that one will only eat french fries. McD's french fries, and that's IT. For YEARS. His brother, eats only rice. Sure they are extreme examples, but a lot of kids are leading way too catered to lives with respect to food....I guess is my point. There would be a lot crying by a lot of kids if you had them for a week. And even if you were tough enough to 'starve them out' whose to say that they won't regress as soon as they are out of your range? .....although they might also be the most likely Not to stray too....anyways, point is, I don't think they would be more perceptive or receptive than adults necessarily.

Another problem, watching earthlings over and over. I showed my 9 and 11 yr old that movie, but I knew they were old enough, one became vegetarian on the spot, the other did for awhile. The 6 year old couldn't even stand to hear a summary of what it was about. Ofcourse I wouldn't show it to her....if you show that to whatever kid, you will be giving some of these kids some serious problems. Nightmares upon nightmares for one. But also a fear of the world in general. Anxiety problems....or exacerbating already existing anxiety problems. Problems that they do not have the resources or intellect to deal with. So I actually thinks that's abusive and I would suggest considering possible consequences carefully.

Lastly, if these kids go back to SAD eating homes, they have no overt control over their lives, unless their parents are special people, and will end up fighting a battle that they have no idea how to fight. How are they going to answer questions like protein and b12 and iron and calcium. In their heads they will know that their example Harley is doing fine, but that won't stand up for a second in the family arena....they might manage to stay veg. But they aren't buying the groceries. Which is why I said those picky eaters might fair the best, since they're parents are totally whipped anyway.

But, you said yourself you've seen Doug help people recover only to go back to their old ways once they're in their old environment. ....I'm afraid the kids won't stand a lasting chance. But I do think you would plant an effective seed that will pay off when they grow up.

Anyways, that's about it I guess....

nice to keep the forum in perspective isnt it bp?

have enjoyed your thought provoking posts for sure...

how absurd to say that only people with good unlined skin are fat...what the!!!you're saying Nige is fat..that im fat...that anyone not lined and sundamaged is fat...how silly...or is it only me thinking that....
ive seen lots of bigger people with major lines and sun damage...

as you havent worked in the cosmetics industry i would say you would know very little about it...you are talking more advertising and media....not at the front line,of the job....pampering and loving and nurturing people..may seem like creams, powder and paint to some...for me doing the treating,it goes waaaaaaaaaaay deeper than that...ive had people fall into my arms and sob....because they had never been touched with so much love and care....food for thought?!
and i always share with them how i live and eat,and train ..etc...i have myriads of people say...oh but your in your early 20's etc..and they nearly die with their leg in the air when i say im 37.....

sounded like a bit of a delirious post to me...very disjointed really...

how fabulous if life was just so black and white, and there were no shades of grey, like EVER!

yup bp leading by example is our best bet...not scaring people into things...having been bought up in a very strict religion...and having to shake off years of scare mongering and brain washing...i dont personally think its the best way to go...i think you put it nicely into perspective bp.....

best day to all of you....

have a happy happy (wrinkle free day...only smile lines...not frown lines....)just jokin..have a great one whatever you are doing....

Kids, at least young kids anyway, want to do what everyone else is doing and will eat like everyone else. So the way to teach them is defo lead by example.

Had a family function this morning and my 3yr old niece had a tantrum because she wanted to be eating what i was eating (was yoghurt and banana), but she was already full so couldnt eat it and just got more upset, but the point of the story is she wanted it because she saw someone else doing it.

Speaking of wrinkles, i was at the football last night shivering even in thermals, lol (ok not the point of the story), and some charming people sat next to my group, all smokers. One of them breathed more smoke than air. It was beyond disgusting, forgeting the harm they were doing me i couldnt believe what they were doing to themselves! Anyway, one of them, the woman i noticed in particular looked so incredibly old, her skin was so wrinkly and haggard, but i really dont think she was that old. All i could think was how does anyone knowingly breath poison into themselves and worse not even notice or care about the obvious damage they were doing to themselves that i could see clear as day in her skin.........i got a very strange look when i pulled out a bag of bananas to munch on, hahaha.
