Title: American / Australian Conversions for Smoothies ?
Post by: Sweetpea on Saturday 22 September, 2007
In the book “Green for Life” it is suggested to drink a QUART of green smoothie a day.

I have been to a couple of conversion sites but am getting a bit confused, as most sites will convert into British but not Australian.

Can anyone please tell me the Australian equivalent of the following:

American QUART = Australian?

American GALLON = Australian?

Many thanks

Oooh, I have lived in both places & can answer this :)

American QUART = 1 litre, Australian
American GALLON = 4 litres, Australian

Or close enough.  Google says 1 quart = 0.94635295 Litres; and 1 gallon = 3.7854118 Litres.

The term 'quart' comes from the 'quarter of a gallon', so it's easy for me to remember that the gallon is 4 of them.
Then I think back to the people in the apartment getting their 'quart of milk', and it being the 1L size cardboard container of it.

Many thanks for that.

It will be easy to drink a litre of smoothie per day but I will have to draw the line at 4!
