Title: "Whitelight Tooth Whitening System" - con or not ?? Post by: Sweetpea on Tuesday 16 October, 2007 I saw this "Whitelight Tooth Whitening System" advertised on TV.
Can someone have a look at this link and tell me your thoughts. Personally I wonder if it is a con because I really don't understand how it can work?! http://www.dealsdirect.com.au/p/whitelight-tooth-whitening-system/ My teeth are stained from smoking and past illness, I hate smiling because of it and would love to whiten them but been put off the peroxide method. Thank you for any comments. Title: Re: "Whitelight Tooth Whitening System" - con or not ?? Post by: VegiesMakeMeSmile on Tuesday 16 October, 2007 KK I asked my dentist about this recently and they put some chemicals on your teeth and then shine the light on, so it's still a chemical treatment I'm afraid. I have some yellow dots on my teeth which the dentist says is from having a childhood illness, measles or something, at the wrong time in my adult tooth development, so I'd fancied the idea as well.
I honestly think that people love a smile and don't notice your teeth as much as we think they do though. Love May Title: Re: "Whitelight Tooth Whitening System" - con or not ?? But I don't have healthy teeth because of my past childhood illnesses and smoking. As good as the raw lifestyle is, I doubt it can turn yellow teeth back to white. Thought it too good to be true, but desperate times call for desperate measures! Title: Re: "Whitelight Tooth Whitening System" - con or not ?? Post by: yummymummy on Tuesday 16 October, 2007 Speaking of dental health, I was on a raw food website the other day that had a story on the poor dental health of raw foodies. It was some french guy (can't remember his name) and to get all the details you had to buy a book, which I didn't.
Just wondering if any of you long term rawies have noticed a decline in your teeth??? Unlike this site there is sooo much advertising and promotions and lures to get you to buy things that I'm a little bit dubious about the whole scenario, but if anyone has any info that would be great. Yummummy  Title: Re: "Whitelight Tooth Whitening System" - con or not ?? Post by: FreedomB on Tuesday 16 October, 2007 You might be surprised KittyKat - but the key is to BRUSH!!!!
YM, are you talking about Fred Patenaude? Some people are of the opinion that your teeth get bad when you eat too much fruit sugar but as long as you brush or rinse that off, you should be fine. Also, it is important to keep a balance between fruit and greens (in my opinion!! - not gospel!). How many wild apes start getting decay and losing their teeth as they age? Not many at all - probably none. Because they eat because what they're supposed to eat. RInse your mouth out after you eat and brush thoroughly and regularly. Toothpaste is not that important,it is the brushing action that matters, so if you're out and about you can just carry a toothbrush with you and pop into the toilets when you've eaten. Title: Re: "Whitelight Tooth Whitening System" - con or not ?? Post by: RawGreenGoddess on Tuesday 16 October, 2007 ive seen some very dodgy looking teeth on some raw fooders...real bad....
some can get lulled into the false sense that its raw it aint gonna hurt.... im with you Freedom on this...if you cant brush after each meal at least rinse your mouth out with water...flossing is super important too... KK,ive had my teeth whitened they werent super stained, but i love the result,im with you feeling good about your smile is important..and you're right a good healthy raw vegan lifestyle isnt going to get the signs of illness off your teeth now...go and see a reputable dentist and do what makes you happy!! Title: Re: "Whitelight Tooth Whitening System" - con or not ?? Post by: Patricia on Tuesday 16 October, 2007 I did noticed that my teeth were getting looser.
I had problems with my teeth and I think at the time I wasn·t eating any greens and was eatingtoo much dry fruits and nuts. since I started the raw food over four years ago I lost two teeth. I still don·t know exactly why. The dentist thinks because maybe when I was little I did·t have enough calcium. All my teeth became loose last year in 2006. Since December last year the rest of my teeth are ok, I think the green smoothies may have something to do for keeping the rest of my teeth. I don·t know Title: Re: "Whitelight Tooth Whitening System" - con or not ?? Post by: FreedomB on Tuesday 16 October, 2007 Yeah, you don't want to brush too hard... when I was about 9 or 10 my orthodontist told me that everyone in the world should use the super-soft small-head brushes that are usually targeted at little kids.... hence my toothbrushes all have Mr Men characters on the handle, lol! rofl
I definitely agree with May too though - great teeth do not equal a great smile. You can have the most stunning, straight white teeth in the world but if you don't really mean it when you smile, it will be obvious. And similarly, if you have less than perfect teeth but you just exude joy in your smile, no one will notice. I think I can use my dad as an example - look over to the left, you'll see us smiling together and i think he has a great smile. If you got up really close and probed, you would find that my Dad's lower teeth are shockingly misaligned - some protrude far out and across in front of others (a result of the fact that he never had his wisdom teeth out and they caused severe crowding). Also, he smoked for close to 27 years, starting when he was 12 (YAY, it's been soooooo long now since he quit!!) and he is also a HUGE drinker of tea, so his teeth are pretty stained. But can you see any of that? No, all you see is a lovely smile. :yahh: Title: Re: "Whitelight Tooth Whitening System" - con or not ?? Post by: Sweetpea on Wednesday 17 October, 2007 You might be surprised KittyKat - but the key is to BRUSH!!!! Wow. OMG. You must be joking. I never knew this. Why has no-one ever told me. And all these years I have just been sucking on that ole toothbrush (gosh I should have got the clue from the word tooth"brush") Don't worry, I am just friendly joking with you FreedomB. I brush my teeth three times a day (twice using electric, once manual) but if your teeth are already yellow through past illness and unhealthy lifestyle, you can brush them to the cows come home and they won't get any whiter. Post by: Savvy Womyn on Wednesday 17 October, 2007 I have been mostly raw for over 6mths (had a few cooked meals here and there) and I have noticed that my teeth do look whiter. I am hoping that this will continue as I go along. I agree with Pat and think the amount of greens I'm eating is the main contributor.

I am hoping that this will continue as I go along. I agree with Pat and think the amount of greens I'm eating is the main contributor. Well in that case, I will increase my greens over the next six months and see if my teeth colour improves. If not, I will follow the advice from RawGreenGoddess and have them professionally whitened. |
