Title: New Zealand
Post by: eve on Tuesday 06 November, 2007
Hi there,

I am a newbie to the site and to RAW food I started 3 days ago and am desperate for information :sos:
Can anybody give me some advise on a really good basic recipe and RAW food explained book?
I also have a real problem sourcing raw ingredients (outside fruit and veg) in New Zealand.

Thanks everybody!

i've seen here and there that there are rawbies in nz. so there is a raw movement in nz. i know this doesn't really help since i can't tell you where but you should be able to get some things. the internet is so good for looking. just google raw and nz maybe.

Hi Eve, welcome to the pure bliss that is raw vegan living! There are others on this site who are new to raw, main one I can think of is 'Stargirl.' I don't think the shipping from this site would be too bad to NZ though I don't know for sure, this would be my first stop for more 'exotic' raw products though if you have a wholefood/healthfood shop anywhere near you they should have some raw nuts etc.
A great book that combines raw info and loooots of recipes is Alissa Cohen's 'Living on Live Food,' which you can also buy with an accompanying DVD. Another one is 'Detox Your World' by Shazzie. My favourite raw book is 'Your Natural Diet' by David Klein and T.C Fry.

Hugs, Freedom

Welcome Eve!

I think if you do a search on google(raw vegans in New Zealand) would be your best bet!

Best wishes!

Thanks for all the info, I tried your suggestions but not a lot came up so far.
Never mind I am off to the organic market on Friday and will stock up!
It's only for a short time anyway we are coming over to Australia next year anyway.

FreedomB: I did not even see they shipped to NZ what an excellent excuse to buy heaps of goodies..  :ohyeah:

Hi there.

I am in NZ just north of Hamilton. :) I have found this website http://www.purewellbeing.co.nz/index1.html (http://www.purewellbeing.co.nz/index1.html) but haven't ordered from them yet. They have a few raw ingredients and a lot of books and tapes etc.

Hey!
Hows your progress been??

I just spent christmas with my relatives in Wainuiomata. Oh did you feel the earthquake? I didnt, i was down stairs, but the others did upstairs. Anyway, Nz is soo lovely, i made a raw vegan cheesecake for them with stuff we bought from commensense organics. Vida foods www.vidafoods.co.nz/ (http://www.vidafoods.co.nz/) sells pre made raw stuff and also has some cool recipies on their site too. My relatives actually found out about raw foods before i said anything. They had been given a very good book by a christian friend of theirs called the "hallelujah diet" by Rev George Malkmus.

Id love to just give books away like that.

Hope youre going awesome!! Let us know :)
