Title: Almond Milk
Post by: Pinky on Monday 19 November, 2007
Well I made my first lot of almond milk today and can I say Thanks Jen for the recipe and thanks Garfield for you recipe in my journal oh yum yum yum

My question is What do i do with the pulp can I put it in something else so i dont waste it?

Does Almond milk have the same amount of fat that almonds do? And if so I supose I shouldnt drink it every day right?

I know there was another question but i have forgotten it.

Anyway any info you can give me would be great

Love to all Angie

Hi Pinky,

Well, when I make almond milk, I use the almond pulp for a body scrub in the shower.  I rub it all over and then wash it off.  I do find that pulp does stick to your body, so I use a cloth to help take it off while in the shower.  It's also a nice face scrub.

You can also use it in crackers (if you have a dehydrator), or mix it with honey, dates, carob/cocoa powder, coconut....whatever you like.......and mix it into a ball to make 'fudge' balls.  You can also put some pulp in a smoothie.....banana, chocolate....whatever smoothie you want.....for more fibre.

I'm sure there's LOADS more ideas, but they're the ones I have.

As for the fat content of almond mylk, I'm not definite about this, but I have heard it is less than actually having the almonds whole.  But can't be certain on that.  But as for having it everyday, if the dairy industry advocates ppl having cows' milk daily, then I don't see having almond mylk is really going to be that bad....

Take care

Luv

Rita

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay for the almond milk Pinky. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I put the pulp flat on a teflex sheet, cover it with a mesh sheet and dehydrate it for future use as well.

Title: Biscotti
Post by: Rosal on Monday 19 November, 2007
I agree the fat content is probably on the high side.

When I had some leftover almond pulp, I made the Biscotti described in Gabriel Cousen's new Rainbow cuisine book.  I remember it had almond pulp, raisin, cinnamon, and a few other things.  It tasted really good -- so good I took a picture:

That's right Pinky. But I didn't refrigerate it. I just put it in an airtight container. I wouldn't keep it too long though. Just a week or so.

Rosal, they look divine! Wummmm.

It's a pleasure, Pinky(cute nickname:)!

All excellent ideals here, I love Rita's natural scrub recipe; you can always add a nourishing cold-pressed oil for skin-friendly benefits(pulp and oil:)

Try to fret about  FAT as it's raw almonds (and not saturated congealed animal saturated yucky fats) this fat is actually quite beneficial for maintaining youth and great skin!

Hope this helps!
