Title: calories and energy Post by: tora chan on Thursday 29 November, 2007 i was wondering if anybody knows much about calories and energy from food. my question is, how do calories in food effect your body? If i simplye at a huge amount of calories does this simply give me energy and make me want to exercise? can i overeat calories on raw when I am not burning them off with exercise? Sometimes i think when i'm just going to work i shouldn't need much fruit or energy. I also sometimes think maybe if i don't feel like exercising i should just not do it unless i really feel energized.
Title: Re: calories and energy Post by: durianrider on Thursday 29 November, 2007 its in interesting point and goes pretty deep yet simple on paper...
do some basic math on how much you need just according to your height, weight and sex. then add up all the activity you do. if i look back in a training diary, i can average my cycling ive done that week, day or year. one year i rode just over 30 000km. thats around 3 hours average a day. i burn on average 600calories an hour on the bike. sometimes more. so thats 2500calories plus 1800calories. thats over 4000calories. over 40 bananas a day if that was my staple...so we get a brief picture of how much we need, of how much we earnt and burnt. i see it time and time again. people undereating on fresh fruit and invariably going back to cooked starches and or animal products or heaps of fat. there is only one optimum staple for human performance. its fresh fruit. science proves it, your body loves it. and in terms of exercise..we dont get fit training sporadically. consistent training is key. i feel everyone feels better after movement. rarely before. 'satisfaction after completion' is the point to remember here. ive got a 600km ride planned in 24 hours coming up soon. its a solo ride. if its anything like my last ride over 500km i know i will feel better at the end than at the start... so get out there..earn our food and remember exercise and being hydrated always puts us in a better mood. self awarness via low fat raw vegan athletic lifestyle..you just cant beat it.. Title: Re: calories and energy Post by: Jenergy on Saturday 01 December, 2007 Check out www.fitday.com or www.nutridiary.com and see what you are using and what your intake is. It's a bit of a pain at first and you won't need to do it long. That way you can see your input and output of calories.
I was talking to someone yesterday who said that it can take MONTHS to get used to the idea of eating so much food. xoxoxo Title: Re: calories and energy Post by: durianrider on Saturday 01 December, 2007 its taken me YEARS! to learn this..i was just not paying attention..
by all means use me as an example..learn from my mistakes..use me as a springboard to go even higher.. Title: Re: calories and energy Post by: RawGreenGoddess on Monday 03 December, 2007 as H,as said...it takes a loooooooooong time to get your head around how much fruit we need to thrive, whilst playing hard...well for me its taken a long time too anyway!
i have a good routine worked out now,of how much i need to eat in terms of how much fruit....as i am increasing my exercise routine yet again....averaging around 2 hours per day now...i increase my fruit intake...it works, its simple...im simply paying more attention now ,to my needs, and listening instinctively to my body...and that takes a long time too! Title: Re: calories and energy Post by: Kitteh on Wednesday 05 December, 2007 I agree about not thinking you can eat so much. You get so use to limiting what you eat normally just from being told to watch what you eat that when you start going Raw I have one narna and think having two is a pig out, sif!
It's great to eat half a watermelon and know that you could eat the whole one if you wanted and there's nothing wrong with it! Title: Re: calories and energy Post by: durianrider on Wednesday 05 December, 2007 exactly..the old eating habits or thinking habits we had before raw..we bring into rawville..and we start to feel guilty about eating more volume than anyone we know..yet fresh juicy fruits and veg in general are the lowest caloric density per bite..
we need to get used to taking more bites of our food and less bites into our guilt trip mood. just dont eat more than we can lift and be grateful we understands natures fuel gift. if in doubt..ie you think your eating too much..just count calories that day..most people are suprised to find that they are actually undereating..and also craving cooked foods and or animal products due to that undereating of carbs to give the brain and muscles sufficient sugar.. eating fruit..we have to leave the old false self behind as sit down to a fruity feast.. |
