Title: Workout music!!! Post by: Jenergy on Friday 25 January, 2008 Hey guys, I was given a great gift for Christmas this year... an MP3 player. AWESOME! I've got it loaded with Wayne Dyer and David Wolfe among other things. I've loaded it up with music that I listened to as a teenager because that is what I have been craving lately but as I was listening to it tonight, while I still love it, a lot of it has negative undertones.
I would love something more positive. What are you listening to? I don't really mind what sort of music it is so long as it has a good beat for fast paced walking and jogging. Nothing slow and I'm not a big fan of heart wrenching stuff either. I understand it's talented and very loving and all... it just rubs me the wrong way unless I'm really looking to listen to it! xoxoxox Title: Re: Workout music!!! Post by: FreedomB on Friday 25 January, 2008 Hey Jenhen, I know what you mean about stuff you listened to as a teenager having negative undertones, LOL! I know I am still a teenager but stuff I used to like was all so SAD! :(
Anyway, I don't actually listen to much music but I absolutely LOVE Mika's stuff... especially 'Love Today.' It is so happy and boppy and fun. And I saw him interviewed last year and found out that he is dyslexic (he wears heaps of colourful watches, but can't tell the time on any of them!) but he was so comfortable with himself, it was awesome! Now, shouldn't you be popping off to bed missy? Lol! rofl Have an amazing weekend gorgeous! :-* Title: Re: Workout music!!! Post by: Jenergy on Friday 25 January, 2008 I should be but I'm all pumped up on Motley Crue! And Iron Maiden. I could go for a run now! But I used to be a cd junkie, I would be 2-3 per week. I know that no matter how much music you have it is possible to get bored... I'm sure that Sacha will have something to say about that! LOL.
Thank Freedom. I'll check out Mika for sure. I was listening to Tom Morello this morning on JJJ and he was awesome. A very intelligent man with a lot of passion. xooxox Title: Re: Workout music!!! Post by: Jenergy on Friday 25 January, 2008 Woo hoo! Metallica... Bouncing. I feel like I should be wearing black. How is this fun? I dunno? :yahh:
xoxoxo Title: Re: Workout music!!! Post by: Sacha on Friday 25 January, 2008 LOL Jen Yes You can never have too much music, Just like you can never have too many ways to feel happy and pumped.
Just like when I was a Dj I am still hooked on the never ending search for that next song that captures my human essense, my own human emotions and emotions I want to feel more of. I will post songs that make me feel like I am training for the Olympics soon.lol They always pump me right up like a steam train. Sleep time Love Sach Title: Re: Workout music!!! Post by: Jenergy on Friday 25 January, 2008 Better idea, why don't you just trundle on over with your CD's and then I can test and measure! You don't have to leave them here... I won't bite them! Currently listening to Run DMC and Aerosmith - Walk this way! Heaaaaaven!
xoxoxoxo Title: Re: Workout music!!! Post by: Sacha on Saturday 26 January, 2008 You mean all 250- 300 of them in there dj brief cases...lol

Title: Re: Workout music!!! Post by: eve on Sunday 27 January, 2008 Just my 10 cents Jen, one of my favourite walking tunes is DaftPunk "Harder, Better, faster Stronger"
and if you are in the mood for a dance just watch this video bet you CANNOT sit still watching this groovy dancing girl. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sr2JneittqQ (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sr2JneittqQ) Love eve Title: Re: Workout music!!! Post by: Jenergy on Thursday 31 January, 2008 Thanks Aguacate!
Eve that clip is awesome! I hope that Sacha sees it. I could watch her dance all day. Doesn't it amaze you what people can do with their bodies. Actually that's how I dance... err when I am alone. Or in a club. But in a club, everyone else is drunk and they just don't see me properly! When I'm alone I rock! I love that clip... here's one for you: Hyperactive - Lasse Gjertsen (http://youtube.com/watch?v=o9698TqtY4A) Cool Norwegian guy. I'd love to get this on my mp3 player! xoxoxxo Title: Re: Workout music!!! Post by: Jenergy on Friday 01 February, 2008 Hey Eve, Here is one in response to your groovy vid!

Title: Re: Workout music!!! Post by: waterberry on Wednesday 13 February, 2008 I like your old-school 'rock' choices there Jen!
I go through genre phases with my music listening. But I think each genre just has some songs which have so much energy and life in them that they impart something to the listener. And thus, become good workout songs! hehe. Currently am listening to happier upbeat songs than my old alternative/grunge/rock days. Some of my current playlist songs that have heaps of excess energy are: We Intertwined, by The Hush Sound Caught in the Rain, by October Fall Hello Hello, and Sly; by The Cat Empire. Check 'em out! Title: Re: Workout music!!! Post by: Kitteh on Wednesday 27 February, 2008 Just my 10 cents Jen, one of my favourite walking tunes is DaftPunk "Harder, Better, faster Stronger" DP were awesome live! I need fast music to work out to, too. I walk/cycle to the beat so if it's slow, I don't work out hard enough. I used to use house, but I prefer drum n bass as it's faster and there are some awesome tracks that you can really push yourself to. Artists like London Elektricity and their Hospital Mixes, Benny Page (reggae vibe), Jenna G (for some powerful female vocals as well as good beats) and my mate's mixes are fantastic too, always such fun and funky track lists. I <3 this track, Hard to Beat remixed by L.Elek, makes me pedal like a maniac ;) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gIEsrcnbOj8 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gIEsrcnbOj8) and the remix of the White Stripes' Blue Orchid is tops too http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pFK-bo2ZLsg (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pFK-bo2ZLsg) Title: Re: Workout music!!! Post by: Jenergy on Friday 29 February, 2008 Wow thank you Kitteh. HERE (http://youtube.com/watch?v=Tx1XIm6q4r4) is another one I was lead to by a friend... mwarr harr harr harr!
xoxoxo Title: Re: Workout music!!! Post by: Jenergy on Friday 29 February, 2008 Wow thank you Kitteh. HERE (http://youtube.com/watch?v=Tx1XIm6q4r4) is another one I was lead to by a friend... mwarr harr harr harr! And this one (http://youtube.com/watch?v=iVV4uYHmsEg) too! xoxoxo Title: Re: Workout music!!! Post by: Kitteh on Friday 07 March, 2008 Haha, I've seen the Potter Puppets before, funny
I'm waiting on a new mix from my mate, need some new gym music ;) Title: Re: Workout music!!! Post by: Jenergy on Tuesday 01 April, 2008 And here (http://youtube.com/watch?v=jWk9VJ3wVX8) are some fit boys playing happily with their errrr balls. Opps! Vulgar vulgar. Soccer meets capoeira.
I like the background stuff with this as well. xoxoox Title: Re: Workout music!!! Post by: Sweetpea on Tuesday 01 April, 2008 I don't really mind what sort of music it is so long as it has a good beat for fast paced walking and jogging. I would LOVE to answer you but daren’t......... I posted a similar reply when I first joined this site and was shot down in flames for (shock horror) wanting to listen to music whilst exercising. I am not falling into that trap again.   . Title: Re: Workout music!!! Post by: waterberry on Tuesday 01 April, 2008 hehehe... I remember that KittyK!
... I went on and kept listening to music during my workouts too. I adore music and can't live without it :) Besides, I think there's some credence to being able to do more than one thing at once, both pay attention to your body and concentrate on exercising properly, as well as listening! Jennie I loved the FIFA street soccer video. It seemed to have a few parkour moments in it, which reminded me of this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6qhgIdP3l3I) vid! I love parkour, imagine having that much confidence in moving through your surroundings... wow. Title: Re: Workout music!!! Post by: Sacha on Wednesday 02 April, 2008 I wont ask who but why was anyone being shot down for listeming to music while exercising KittyK?
I wish I was there to defend you. Seems crazy to me. Like eating raw choc cake and turning off your taste buds if you could. Just idiotic Title: Re: Workout music!!! Post by: eve on Wednesday 02 April, 2008 LOL Sach!
Yeah just combining 2 awesome things!! Like Eating raw with friends... 2 great things at the same time. Hey KittyK, some comments need to be taken with a grain of salt (sea pref) but then it is sometimes hard to see what people mean... Title: Re: Workout music!!! I like to listen to the music some days and others I like to listen to my surroundings. I find music often pumps me up when nothing else will. Gets me ready for the day ahead.
Alegne I would LOVE a Greek cd thanks! I love Greek music although I don't think I have heard anything modern. I went to a Greek wedding once that went forever! But it was beautiful and I had a ball at the reception. An absolute ball. I ended up playing the beard for a friend of mine whose boyfriend left her on the day of the wedding and so for the night I was known as 'Mark'. Tee heee. It's good to see you here girl. Mwah! Waterberry, how do you find that stuff? That was awesome! I loved it. I got the kids to watch it as well. I agree about knowing your surroundings. I challenge you to a game of parkour when I'm in Melb. If we last longer than two minutes we get a young coconut each! Yaaaaaaaaay!!! xoxoxoxxo Title: Re: Workout music!!! I find music often pumps me up when nothing else will. Gets me ready for the day ahead. Oh well, I decided to post. I am a big girl now (I can take negativity if need be) and of course, Sacha may even defend me if I get picked on!! I change the songs around, introduce new songs and make a new workout CD every six months. I like to start off slowly and end slowly - to ease into it and then cool down. I keep it uplifting and fast paced in the middle (with the odd slower song to help me catch my breath). The CD lasts for ages, well over an hour. This is my most recent workout CD. Land of hope & glory by Dame Vera Lynn Life in a northern town (Extended) by Dream Academy Where's your head at by Basement Jaxx Cotton eyed joe by Rednex Walking in Memphis by Cher Sunshine on a rainy day by - not sure– maybe Zoe (80’s/90’s) Strength of a woman by Shaggy Dancing with myself by Billy Idol Just can’t get enough by Depeche Mode I ran by Flock of Seagulls I get knocked down by Chumbawamba ? Come back (love has got a hold of me) by Haddaway Love is in the air by John Paul Young Me & Bobby McGee by Janis Joplin Wicked game by Chris Isaak Farewell to Tarwathie by Judy Collins I know, an odd mix but it works for me. . Title: Re: Workout music!!! Post by: Jenergy on Thursday 03 April, 2008 Oh that is a great mix! I love that it is so ecclectic. Billy Idol was my favourite for years and years. I was invited to go to his concert when I was 14 or 15 with my best friend, her older brother and his best friend. Dad wouldn't let me go and I loathed him for it for years. Not only was the Grand Withholder of Money for Jeans he was preventing me from meeting my One True Love! Billy Idol. The tickets the boys had included passes to the afterparty as well and it was mad.
In hindsight Dad was right not to let a young teenager to that but at the time..... I have a lot of those songs on my mp3 player. Awesome! xoxoxox Title: Re: Workout music!!! Post by: Jenergy on Sunday 13 April, 2008 I love this one too... how awesome is this kid (http://youtube.com/watch?v=Re1XEmjNG6c)? What an actor... makes me want to go for a run now... but I am going leepy leepies!
xoxoox Title: Re: Workout music!!! Post by: waterberry on Tuesday 15 April, 2008 I've just started running intervals... listening to 'podcasts' of dance tracks put into timed segments so I know where my intervals are. Getting the mp3s from DJ Steve-boy's site (http://www.djsteveboy.com/intervals.html). Seems an interesting way to use music constructively, to do interval training :)
Title: Re: Workout music!!! Post by: veganwolf on Sunday 04 May, 2008 Hey people,
I'm a personal trainer and aerobics "freestyle" (meaning i do what I want) I've just started taking SPIN classes (on a bike in a room with a black light and some thumping music!!!) and need to do a new cd for it. Any good high intencity songs around? I mainly stick to underground so I need some help. Cheers The Vegan Wolf Title: Re: Workout music!!! Post by: waterberry on Tuesday 13 May, 2008 fitmusic/ (http://www.fitmusic.com/) Just saw the link to this site on another forum, figured it needs to be shared here too!
Not sure if it's any good, but looks like it has some of the faster bpm things that I know some of you (Jen!) were searching for! Free downloads too :) |
