Title: Lulu's Triumph
Post by: lulu on Tuesday 08 April, 2008
Ok, just some musings.

Sometimes people have written in my journal and you know I read them but I have never replied, I'd never really noticed this before and I am sorry if I may have offended anyone in doing this.  When I first started keeping a journal they were for the 'owner' only to write in and I guess this just stuck for me because I come and go so much!  Please don't be offended if I have not returned your questions or answered you.  I am always popping into the boards reading things and catching up on events but I guess I'm not much of a talker, more a listener.  It will be interesting to see if this changes at all too.

take care

Hey Lulu,  I can't see why anyone would be offended. There is so many different kinds of people here and not everyon has the time to go to every journal. I love it when you post in yours. I hope you are well and happy!

I am very well and happy too  :yahh: thanks for understanding.

Anyway, I had my son take some photos of me yesterday in tight clothes that show all my lumps and bumps  :( and I will post them after 30 days and after I take a 30 day photo (or when I have another photo that actually looks better).  I just can't post it yet because it makes me feel down and I want to feel up so I have to have a more positive photo to see my improvement, does that make sense..

My goals are:

Skin Healing
WEIGHT LOSS
Energy returning
To regain that peace of mind feeling
To feel happier
To sleep better
To feel cleaner
To become fitter (exercise)

This is my overall 12 month goal.

I'm not sure of my weight at present, my scales have broken (mental note, do not put scales where kids jump on them) but I'm guessing around 140 - 145pds eeeek at 5'2".  I want to be between 115 and 120pds which is about right for my height (or when I'm comfortable in my weight).  So I have about 20pds or so to lose.

I don't expect this to take 12 months of course but the skin and other things may.

Ooooooo, I really love it when the kids are on holidays, no rushing around every morning yeh, I still get up at 5.15am mind you to get my 'boys' off to work but then I can slug around in my pjs for a while hee hee, play on the computer and not rush.

Feeling great today, ears are blocked but they will clear soon.  My face is a little rough today (detox) and I'm forever on the loo, yes all is good.

Today's food.

Smoothie - paw paw, banana and cocoa
Lunch - two nori rolls with guac, tom, lettuce and mushroom (sooo nice)
Handful of nuts, some with honey

Not sure what dinner will be, maybe pasta marinara with leftover guac and salad.

I need to get more supplies, the kids have eaten so much being at home this week and I need to make some fudge or fudge balls for my sweet tooth as almonds dipped in honey isn't really doing it for me!!!!

I was looking at my profile and I've been registered here since 2005 OMG and over this time I have rarely posted....... I must get more active in this community, get of my rather large bottom and make some noise I think.

Ok, got to go now, take care.

What a lovely day it is today, a little breezy but still very nice.

My pizza bread is dehydrating and filling the air with lovely smells   ummmmmm  I like to eat it as is or with a little tomatoe and basil on top, it's more like a raw vege burger thing.

My daughter has been vegetarian this week and now her face has broken out, I told her it was probably a detox thing, she's not happy.  She's off to camp next week and wanted to be 'healthy' this week because she knew she would have to eat 'slop' next week (as she puts it).  It will be interesting to see how she handles that change, I'm hoping when she returns she might decide to return to vego rather than go back to meat!!!!

My eldest son went vegetarian/almost vegan early last year after he got a part-time job in an Organic Butchers.... I was sooooo glad.

Just some more musings.

Have a lovely day, I'm off to eat a banana.

bye

Day eight

Feeling really good but have a slight dull thud going on in my head, may be my delayed detox.  I was thinking last night I've had it quite good this time around, no real aches and pains etc. and then slowly through today this thud has been growing.  Going to have a relaxed weekend with the kids before they go back to school next week so this will be nice.

Take care

Day Nine

Beautiful smoothie - coconut milk, blueberries, banana
Fudge
Banana
Mandarin
Fudge lol
crackers with tom and avo x 5
lots water
fudge lol
salad with pesto mushrooms (not dehydrated)

Well I've had too much fudge today just over half and I'd probably eat the rest but I'm not going too.  It was the size of a large chocolate bar (not any more) lol, it's sooooo nice.

I might keep that one for special occasions, not an everyday thing as that's all I would eat.

Feeling a little tired this afternoon (probably fudge overload) and I actually slept in 'til 7.00am this morning.

I noticed this morning that my teeth ached when I woke up which has never happened before.  It's nice to be writing in my journal again.  I really must get to weighing myself too and perhaps some measurements.

Day ten

OOOooooo I feel good, da da da da da da dum.....

Feeling really good, have a coldsore coming up, love the detox.  Cleansing heaps and feeling wide awake today which is wonderful.

My skin is really dry, probably from all the winds the other day, it does that.  I've been putting flax/safflower oil on my salad daily (uuummm I thought it was flax/sunflower when I bought it) to try to combat this and I like the way flax tends to give me a 'feelgood' feeling.

I haven't craved anything yet which is wonderful but I'm not getting too confident about this.  I love the way that two weeks ago I felt like cr.. and now I feel great.

I'm keeping this way of life as simple as I can on my budget, I can't do too many complicated recipes because the budget won't stretch that far so I'm doing what I can with what I have and it's working.

I'm learning to plan ahead too which I think is really important with this lifestyle.

Ok, have a great rawing day

bye

Have spent most of the day cleaning house, having the kids at hom sure makes a mess so I got them to help me with some chores before they go back tomorrow.

Day 11

Feel wonderful..... didn't sleep great last night at all yet I still feel great, this is such a change.

Smoothie for breakfast, banana, blueberries and 1 date.
Three flax crackers with avo on top (crackers are about the size of an average slice of tomatoe)
Mandarin while wiping out the fudge bowl (whoops, where did that come from?????)
Lunch will be crackers with avo and tomatoe

Have a wonderful day all

Fudge bowl, what fudge bowl...

Thank you so much Berrybliss, I really appreciate the encouragement.  I've been reading through your journal (slowly as I get stuck drooling over the pics lol) and it's wonderful to see where you've come from to where you are now, wish I was in Adelaide for that Potluck.

Must be day 12

Wonderful day today, kids are back to school, one at camp for the week and all is rather quiet at home.  Made the smoothie after dropping kids off this morning as I was in a hurry so James and I got the whole thing to ourselves uuuuummmmm what a shame, banana and blueberry.  Might start adding some greens to my smoothies now.

Had quite a few nuts mid morning today, don't know why but that's ok.  Lunch was two nori salad rolls with some guacamole inside but James ate the insides out of about half of one, he doesn't like the nori, probably too difficult for him to bite just yet, he just likes to eat my food.

Clothes seem to be fitting better today, this is good.  My coldsore ruptured last night so that's on the way out yeh.  I only ever get these when I detox along with ulcers, fingers crossed, not this time. My ear is still blocked which is getting quite annoying now...

Dinner last night was green salad with quacamole.

The temp is down a little today, typical when my dd goes to camp, the same thing happened last year when she went, it was the coldest week we had all year!!!  Don't think it will be that cold this week though.  I think I'll order a spacer for my dehydrator for the cooler months so I can warm up mushrooms etc to keep me a little warmer.  I quite like my mushrooms crunchy but in the cold who knows.

Ok, bye for now

Thanks so much Berrybliss, I've actually read morn's journal a couple of months ago and it was that journal that made me know that this lifestyle is doable for mums, not just singles or families where everyone goes raw at once.  She is such an inspiration... and so are you on your journey with your family.

Thanks once again for the encouragement.

I'll post again later as it's early and I haven't had or done anythin yet.

Hello, 13 days for me now, yeh.

Went to my parents today which was really nice, sipped on a little warmed green tea with lemon, nice.

I weighed myself and I'm 148 pds which is heavier than I originally thought I was, eeek, it's ok, it's all going to come off anyway, what's 10 pds anyway, lol.

Seem to be eating alot this week, always nibbling due to my monthly coming this Sunday I guess.  I always eat more this week but it took me a while to figure it out so now I have to make sure I have plenty of yummy foods in the house at this time, which reminds me I must make some more crackers today or at least soak the flax for tomorrow.

Feeling great, ear still blocked which is not only driving me batty but the kids also, irritates hubby also, pls pls unblock now, now, now.

Skin feels dry today because it's windy outside, have ordered some coconut oil so I'll try taking some of that and see if there's any difference.

Green smoothie this morning for breakfast, warmed green tea, handful of nuts x 2, lunch was two nori rolls with the rest of my guacamole, lettuce, spinach, tom and cucumber (love these).

I must try and drink more water, I'm struggling to drink 2lts a day at the moment so I really need to increase this to move things along.  Having about 3-4 bms a day (sorry if too much info) so cleansing is moving along nicely.

Oh, dinner last night was salad with mushrooms stuffed with guacamole.

Ok, gtg take care everyone, bye

You had a great day yesterday...well done!

DOnt worry too much about your weight, just keep eating the way you are and it will soon just drop off and you will become you ideal shape and size...and some exercise will get you tonned and firm.

For dry skin, coconut oil is fantastic and also olive and almond oils..massage every day all over after showering...you will as soft as a baby bottom!

I try not to eat anything in the morning until i have drunk 500-1 litre of water/tea (herbal, sundried)
Also helps if you dont eat anything till you have a BM of yesterdays foods....but thats just me!

heres to another good day xoxo

Berrybliss, you are a hive of information,  I suffer from psoriasis, uuummmmm how do I put that and make it a positive????  I am healing myself from psoriasis which gets very dry and itchy especially in the cool windy weather, as soon as my oil arrives I'm going to try putting some on and also taking a tbls daily to see if this helps along with eating raw of course.  It may take time but I'm sticking this one out til...... forever.

You are a wonderful, caring person and I send you loving vibes (((((()))))))

This is day 15 on my journey, this morning I had two green smoothies, banana, blueberries and half bad of baby spinach, James loved this too.  Lunch, 4 crackers with avo and tom and a banana.

Last week hubby was given 15 avos straight from the tree, they are now ripening nicely and they are so creamy, don't look great on the outside but wow they are tasty.  One avo would probably last me two - three days so I don't eat that many at all, I wonder if I eat more avo and less nuts it may be a good change.

My dd comes home from camp today, I've missed my lovely young lady and will be so happy to see her again.  She will probably stink because the camp was a 'rough it' type of thing, you know, leave all the luxuries at home, two changes of clothes, no showers etc.  hee hee, probably do her the world of good.  I know I've had a lot less washing this week, lol.

Stocked up on my nuts and seeds again today, could only get cacao nibs and not powder, anyone know the best was to get them to powder form.  I don't have a mortar and pessle?  Would the coffee grinder I use for flax work ok?

Ok, take care all, my little one is asleep with his little truck, awww how cute, bye.

Title: Re: Lulu's Triumph
Post by: eve on Friday 18 April, 2008
Oh how lovely a big stash of avos, I was lucky to stock up last week at 39 cents each but I have eaten them all and now they are back up to $1.69 each... never mind.

Yes I think your coffee grinder should work fine for grinding those nibs...

Day 16

3 x Smoothies, banana, blueberry, coconut milk - sooooooooo nice (about 1/2 blender jug)
2" piece raw choc fudge
Lunch was 5 x crackers with avo and tomato
banana
2 x dates
2 x brazil nuts
1/2 apple (large)
2" piece raw choc fudge
Dinner was green salad with guacamole stuffed mushrooms (dinner plate equivalent to both my hands - they are not too big)
Drank about 2ltrs water (weather was cold today)

I found out my water jug was 3 ltrs not 2 ltrs so I've been drinking more than I thought, yeh cos I thought I wasn't drinking enough.  It's hard to drink alot on a cold day, makes me run to the toilet all day.

Thought I would just mention some sizes today because everyone uses different size plates etc so it gives a better idea, my plates are not huge at all and I get them that way on purpose so that the kids never overate as they like their plates full.  Hubby on the otherhand has a huge plate, lol.

I have 2-3 smoothies in the morning like a breakfast, I have it about 1.5 hours after getting up usually, at about 7.00am.

Hello all, today is 18 days already, wow.  Thanks jen, I tend to eat quite plain compared to others I think, but I like it.

Green smoothies x 2 this morning and some trail mix later at about 10.00am.  Feeling a little hungry today, got my monthly yesterday so that's probably why.

Yesterday I had smoothie (waaaaaa only got one) which I had to share with the whole family.
banana
two nori salad rolls with left over guacamole
some nuts and sultanas
dinner was mixed salad, quite plain but it's just what I felt like and I really enjoyed it.

Stuck inside most of the weekend due to the rain, I hope it stops for a while now, at least in my area.

Back again, been quite busy the last couple of days, still 100% and this is day 20 so I'm really pleased and grateful that I am enjoying this soooo much.

Have been eating quite plain, more avocados than normal because they are all ripe and need eating, lol, luckily they are only small ones hey.  Skin seems to be a bit smoother now but I keep breaking out in odd places which is a pain.  My nails look nice and pink and my eyes seem clearer.  Ear is still blocked but not as bad, can't wait for this one to go.

Daughter came back from camp and on Sunday asked if she could go back to vegetarian because she just felt better, that's wonderful, three kids down, two to go.  My second son thinks it's a conspiracy, lol.

There's just something about the light in Autum, I just love it.  Ok, got heaps to do today, probably have crackers with guacamole for lunch.

Yesterday I had the best grapes I've had in a long time, so juicy and sweet, now I want more.

Ok, bye now

Just a quick one, today was a little uncomfortable, got some cravings after lunch for something sweet, couldn't find what I wanted so I made a cacao smoothie with a little honey, that did the trick, I was soooo ful after half a jug of this, couldn't have eaten anything else if I tried.

Green smoothie
handful of nuts
6 x crackers with avo and tom
1/2 jug cacao smoothie
lots water
Dinner will be salad with pesto stuffed mushrooms, yum.

Ok, gtg start dinner for everyone and get washing of line, lol.

bye now

Ooooooo I haven't been here for a few days, I've posted in 60 days raw so that's ok.

Today I had no smoothie, waaaaaa, had to go shopping for supplies.  Down town I grabbed a juice to keep me going til later.

Handful of nuts
two nori rolls for lunch
Banana
apple (beautiful)
half mandarin to clean out fudge bowl, yummmmm
Dinner will be garden salad with guacamole.

Yes, I made some more fudge today, lol, it's delicious, I must try not to make is so good, lol.  I actually managed to get to the farmers' market today before everything was gone, yeh, got some lovely apples, mandarins, zuccini, spinach (the big stuff) and some lovely oranges.  Next week I'll do my shopping on Friday so I can go to the market earlier on Saturday.

Started to get another headache at about 11.00am today but it disappeared after I ate my lunch, have tried to drink lots of water too.  Didn't really sleep well last night.

On a lighter note, I'm still 100% and feeling pretty good, this is day 23.

Ok thanks for reading and bye for now

Hi there, not feeling great today, started to feel feverish early evening yesterday, sneezing, headiness and hot.  Woke up this morning not feeling much better, must be detox as I don't hang out with sick people so I've not caught anything from anyone.

Yesterday I had my weekly coconut fix, hee hee, smoothie with banana, blueberries and coconut juice and some spinach.  Handful of nuts, five flax crackers with tom and avo, banana, mandarin and for dinner green salad with zuccini pasta and marinara sauce, made a little differently this time and it was spicy, but nice.

Today I've had lots of green smoothie (just over half a jug), water and some fudge, lol.  Whoever invented raw chocolate, they have alot to answer for, lol, well at least it stops any desire for cooked.

It's hot here today, beautiful.  We planted some more lettuce yesterday so I'm hoping Jnr won't  run over it, I keep asking dh to put up a fence but he says it's not practical where the garden is at present so we might look into moving the garden on a gradual basis.  James runs through it, picking cherry toms and feeding them to the dog, lol.  Whenever I see some red ones I have to sneak out before he sees me to pick them for us.

Ok people, going to see if I can get a little rest today and I'm really not feeling too good, take care and bye for now

Day 27 - Oh boy, I keep thinking today is Tues but it's Wednesday, lol

Monday

Lunch - 5 x crackers with avo and tom
apple
banana
pineapple juice with blueberries
Garden salad

Tues

Green Smoothie
Green Tea (warmed)
5 x crackers with avo and tom
pineapple juice with blueberries
Pesto on mushrooms with salad for dinner

Wed

Cacao smoothie
Fudge bowl wiped out with mandarin  :ohyeah:
small piece of fudge, lol
carrot juice
tomato/carrot soup, yum, for lunch

Made my first nut butter yesterday using brazil nuts, I'm shocked how easy it was.  Made my first raw soup today adapted from Berrybliss' recipe in her journal... my was

soak water from dates (used to make fudge)
1/2 cup carrot juice
spring onion
1 tomatoe

all blended together and a sprinkle of nutmeg and an ever so tiny amount of ground pepper on top (because I don't like curry).  This was nicely warming on this cool day (thanks BB).  I boiled the kettle and put the water in a pan and placed my bowl over this just to take the chill off the soup, very nice indeed.

I'm now going to make some vege patties from the carrot pulp, zuccini, flax seed (ground) sp. onion, s/d tom and whatever else will make it taste good and dehydrate for dinner tonight and tomorrow.

Feeling great today, a little snuffle but I'm not complaining.

Bye for now

Feeling great today, a little skip in my step...

Dinner last night was really nice, 2 x vege patties with pesto and tom on top with green salad, yum.

I noticed today that it's just easier to move around all of a sudden, I mean I never really found it hard to move around and now I find it easier, lol, if that makes sense.

Today

Smoothie, cacao and banana
piece of fudge
lunch was 5 x crackers with avo and tom
Dinner will probably be the same as yesterday, have a few vege patties left.

Trying to drink more water today (it's not as cold, yeh)

Bye now

Today is 30 days for me, yeh

I don't know if I've lost a whole lot of weight but I do know I'm feeling alot better than I did a month ago.

Well tomorrow I'll get my son to take some photos of me to mark the 'One Month' mark.  I'm so nervous about putting photos of me up, this is something I've never done before and I guess it's another step to take.  If I'm up here for all to see I'll have more accountability I guess.  So either tomorrow or the next I'll put up my 'Before' and 'One Month Raw' photos, lol.  Hope it's easy enough to do.

Been eating 100% raw still and am feeling great, yesterday when bringing the shopping in by myself, I was running back up the driveway after each trip (about 6 trips in all) whereas usually I'm beat by about the third trip, so this is a big difference.  I have a steep driveway, not that long but when you are out of shape it takes it's toll.

I'm going to set some goals for next month, one I know will be exercising, lol, this is a hard one for me.  Another will probably be less nuts, or at least reviewing my food to aid in weightloss and cleansing.

Ok, have a nice day

Ok all, here we go...

WARNING  please remove any food or drink from your mouth now as I do not want to be responsible for any choking or liquids coming out of nasal passages in my journal

Now I have my before and one month raw pictures here, yes I chose a discusting outfit to wear and I haven't wore it all month (because it's discusting) and I will wear it for all my monthly shots until it fits NO MORE... see what you think.

I can tell in my side head shot that my chin is smaller and the redness in my skin is less.  My stomache has gone down too.

The discolouration on my arms is the psoriasis that I am curing.  It will be interesting to see this go over the coming months.

Lulu, reading your journal encourages me a lot. I know our paths cross in 60 Days but I'm starting to dip into people's journals to get inspiration and ideas (hope you don't mind). I eat pretty simply too, so it's kind of nice to see other people eating the same way. With a vegetable juice and green smoothie every day, I either end up grazing or have a salad - excitement plus....
Looking forward to your transformation photos.
All the best, Ange

Thankyou Angefish, don't mind at all.  I like to keep it simple most of the time, it's good for finances and easier to prepare.

I don't know where my photos are right now but I'm hoping Berrybliss can sort them out, lol.

Well I forgot to make my crackers and the flax was soaking since Saturday pm, it's just about trippled in size now so I'll never use it all, just put some on to dehydrate and have sooooooo much mixture left, lol, I'll have to do them in batches until I've used a good proportion of it.

Had the worst upset stomache yesterday evening, I didn't eat anything different but oooooooh it was sore so I went to bed early last night and I feel great this morning.

Oh, I remembered too that I should have mentioned that I no longer has smelly armpit odour, that only lasted about two days a few weeks ago, MUST have been detox.

Ok, yesterday I had green smoothie, coconut, banana and baby spinach.
banana
4 x crackers (my last ones) with avo and tom
mandarin
hand ful of cashews
fudge
garden salad - lettuce, baby spinach, tom, mushroom, beetroot, pine nuts
lots of water

Today

warm green tea (it was cold this morning)
fudge (about a finger size)
banana
lunch will be two nori rolls (because I'm out of crackers until this lot has finished)

Take care now

Well it's bright and early as usual, but this morning I don't feel great, my stomach is upset for some reason...

I'm going to toss all the crackers I made yesterday, I really think I soaked them for too long because they don't taste good at all, I tried one last night and yuk, I still can taste it a little so I'm off them for a while.  I might make some sunflower crackers a little later today but I don't feel like eating much right now.

Yesterday afternoon I ate very little:

taste of flax cracker, yuk
dinner was raw zuccini pasta with marinara sauce and a little lettuce (hubby got iceburg so it wall all crunch)

My skin is still rough on one cheek and smoother on the other, the ear is still a little blocked (same side as rough cheek).

Just looking at my pics, I thinking ummmmmm, maybe I should have put some makeup on, lol, but I want to see any changes so I guess I have to be real.

Ok now, have a great day, oh and yes I'm still 100% raw and this is day 33 for me.

Thanks BB, Eve and others that PM'd me, I can't wait til next month too, lol.

Feeling much better today, my body is looking for a certain food and I don't know what it is, but I'm not letting that get to me.

Still 100% and on day 34, yeh.

I was looking at your fasting photos BerryBliss, what a wonderful experience that must have been for you, I have done week long and a ten day water fasts before and would like to do a fast in either July and/or October, see how things are going then as I don't want to muck up my progress right now.

Bye for now

Today is day 35 and I've realised that this is the longest ever I've been 100% raw with no uuuummmm, slips. :ok:  I am really grateful for this, so long I have tried to stick with this lifestyle only to return to SAD after about 30 days, I  feel confident that this time it's for good and I pray that it is just 'my time' for this lifestyle to fit me.

I feel wonderful today, skin feels softer, plenty of energy but I do feel cold today, brrrrrr

Yesterday

Cacoa smoothie
crackers with tomatoe
cashews (not sure when)
banana
mandarin
smoothie (blueberry and banana)
Dinner - garden salad with guacamole

Today

Cacao smoothie
handful of brazil nuts
Jug of blended 1/2 pineapple and 1/2 rockmelon (very nice)
lunch will be two nori rolls with leftover guacamole and salad, not sure about dinner yet

Having trouble when I type, keeps stopping on me??? Worked fine yesterday??? the cursor disappears, very curious indeed.

Ok, bye now

Thank you so much Beau, I love getting encouragement.

Just a quick one today.

3 x green smoothie, banana, mixed berries and baby spinach
1/2 small bowl of fruit salad
2 skinny salad nori rolls
banana
mandarin to clean out the fudge bowl, lol, it's for tomorrow so that's my excuse
dinner will be green salad with mushrooms stuffed with marinara sauce

Feeling great, been out and about today with some of the kids, bought something to eat at about 11.00am (fruit salad) and dd asked if I felt like the other stuff that was around and in all honesty, I didn't, the other stuff just didn't look appealing at all, yeh.  James ended up eating half my fruit salad anyway, gotta love that little fruit bat.

Take care all

This is what I made for morning tea today, this is my plate (the messiest) as everyone else had already started eating theirs, it was wonderful.

Fudge with fruit and chocolate and mixed berry sauces. -_-

Thank you ladies, it was delicious.

Today I've had about 12 oz green smoothie and I'm just now sipping on my blended pineapple.

I've just done 10 mins jogging on the rebounder, eeeeek, yes I know it's not much but it's a start, remember I've not done much exercise recently.  I'm really hoping to get up to 30 mins in the next month so I'll say about 12th June.  I've also ordered a workout DVD by Jillian Michaels (aka 'biggest loser' fitness guru, lol) for beginners.  I've not really seen her on TV as I don't get channels on my TV, lol, but it sounds like what I need.

And thus starts my fitness regime  :ohyeah:  I'm sure within a month or so this will make a big difference to my weightloss.

Today I've also started to apply Jo jo ba oil to my psoriasis so I'm hoping this will help too.

I've got some sunflower crackers in drying now as I can't get hold of the dark flax seed for my flax crackers and the golden flax just isn't the same, they taste off.  Does anyone know if flax goes off/rancid over time?

Ok, bye now

Title: Re: Lulu's Triumph
Post by: lulu on Tuesday 13 May, 2008
Yesterday

Lunch was sunflower crackers with tom
mandarin
brazil nuts
sunflower crackers with tom
Dinner was raw soup - 1 tom, 1/2 avo, basil, parsley, lemon juice (a bit like guacamole but thinnned out more with water)  this was really nice as I didn't feel like much after the crackers.  Oh, and I warmed it slightly over a bowl of hot water.

Before going to bed I got the worst sore throat, so it's still there a little this morning so I'll probably have more liquids than anything else today.

Today

Cacao Smoothie
Green smoothie
mandarin
about to have blended pineapple
lunch will be carrot and tom raw soup with a little corn (I think)

Feel good today but not great, my throat is still a little sore and my nose is a little stuffy, probably DETOX so I'll ride it through with more liquids.

I must make a consistant effort to drink more water too, because the weather is cooler I don't drink enough water so I must make this a priority especially when/if I eat dehydrated crackers.

I think that's all that's going on at the moment, I hope my DVD arrives today so I can start exercising more and I will rebound a little later when I've done some more h/work.

Take care, bye now

Remainder of yesterday

mandarin
brazil nuts
large garden salad

Today

Cacao smoothie
mandarin
warmed green tea (went to mum's)
Cacao smoothie
dried mango slices (soooo good)
brazil nuts
dinner will be mushrooms stuffed with pesto (warmed in dehydrator) with garden salad

Today I noticed my psoriasis on my arms was really smooth, my daughter and son both said wow when I showed them so it's not just me so I'm posting some pictures so that I remember what it's like and to sort of document the healing progress.

These shots are the same as my body shots just zoomed in and believe me that the one from 1 month raw looks different than it does today, 9 days after but I won't take a new one until the 4th June to see the real difference.  I can see a small difference in these photos already.

Not for the faint hearted...

I was feeling fine today until this afternoon and then I started to sneeze and felt all hot and now my nose is stuffed up, call it a cold or detox, I'm not sure but I don't feel great anymore.  I haven't eaten much today but I really felt like some comfort food.

I just feel like going to bed  :( my body did alot of cleansing yesterday and now my  'tuche' hurts (sorry if TMI) must be having a detox time, lol, my monthly is due on Saturday too, oh boy, this is fun.

 -_-Hi Lulu
I to am "eating to heal" psoraisis.  So glad that you have had such good results so soon.  I have been raw for one month, but have been vegan (apart from the occasional fish meal (hubby is a fisherman and the fish is fresh caught and delicious) for about 9 months.  When I decided to do the vegan thing I had psoraisis for about 12 years, it is the most frustrating and annoying problem because it seems to just hang around, however, by eating raw and vegan the scale has reduced to just red circles.  I have it all over my  torso and along the back of my legs & a bit along the back of my arms.  I have always eaten well, whole grains and lots of fresh stuff but never been this enthusiastic about getting rid of the psoraisis.  When i first started vegan i fasted 3 days juice, 3days water and 3 days juice, the lesions virtually disappeard which confirmed that there is a link between the disorder and food, I plan to do 5 days on water again in July.  I am now determined to get on top of this and will work at it daily to do so.  I have the support of my Husband, but he eats as i used to.  I think with time he will swing over bit by bit as he tastes the fabulous flavours  of Raw food.

Hi there Frangipanni, I too have eaten quite well all my adult life and I know that this is why my psoriasis has never been too inflamed like I see on others.  This said, I also know that the raw diet will heal my psoriasis, it is just a matter of time for the healing to be done (from the inside out) so I will continue to map my progress.  I too would like to fast in July, it will be three months raw for me by then so I'm quite confident my body will be ready for a fast.  I would love to do one now but I don't want to throw my body off it's course which can sometimes happen.

Well today is 7 weeks at 100% raw for me, wow, that time has gone so fast it's hard to believe.  I don't really see many changes in myself but I'll see what the two month photos come out like before passing too much judgement.

I'm eating a bit more now, it's just my nose that's blocked so I'm on the mend.

Tuesday

Smoothie
water
6 brazil nuts
mandarin
pineapple blended
mushroom with pesto with lettuce and tom sprinkled on top
water

Wednesday

smoothie
water
six sunflower crackers with tom
piece of fudge
mushroom with guacamole and green salad

Thursday

Blender full of blueberry smoothie
Lunch will be sunflower crackers with tom

take care all and keep rawing

What everyone has said is so true. You look slimmer, clearer eyes better skin and the photos of your psoriasis are great too. It's awesome to have those kinds of photos.

Congrats on such a long time raw as well. You are amazing and stunning.

Oh boy, I haven't been here since Friday, where does the time go.  Day 53 today.

Now I have to try and remember what I had over the weekend, shouldn't be too hard as I know it wasn't much.

Saturday

Smoothie at about 11.00 am coconut (yeh) blueberries and banana
about six brazil nuts
banana
mandarin
Dinner was mixed salad with mushroom and guacamole
water

Sunday

Cacao smoothie (1 glass)
Smoothie - banana, blueberries and coconut (just over half a jug)
dried mango - about six pieces
4 dates
about six brazil nuts
banana
Dinner was half a zuccini made into fetucini with marinara sauce with green salad

Monday

Cacao smoothie (1 glass)
smoothie - coconut, blueberries and banana

Boy I'm really enjoying my smoothies at the moment, I find they fill me up so much that I've not been having lunch, just the odd nibble on smaller things.  It feels right to do this at the moment.  My nose is almost unstuffed now, yeh.

The mandarins on our tree have just started ripening all the way and I had the first one on the weekend, a little tart but still nice, and I know they are organic too, a couple more days and we'll be picking alot more.

Bye for now, fingers are getting cold.

Title: Re: Lulu's Triumph
Post by: lulu on Tuesday 27 May, 2008
Rest of yesterday

banana
brazil nuts
cacao smoothie
water

Didn't really eat today, about 4.30pm I started to feel really feverish so I just made a smoothie (cacao lol) for dinner, how strange.  I thought I was feeling much better yesterday, although I did feel cold, and then all of a sudden my nose got all congested again and my head was burning.  Feel great again this morning so I don't know what that was all about.

Today

Smoothie
blended pineapple
six brazil nuts
mandarin

Yesterday my DD came home from school all upset, apparently she had run in the 1k dash semi-finals and not done so well (monthly) but was happy with her effort anyway (4mins 20 secs) and her friends were congratulating her and some guy said he liked her running so she was feeling great and then as she walked away he made a nasty comment which brought her down like a tonne of bricks and she was down for the rest of the day..... uuuummmmmm what do you say, so I told her about Love Spirit's clash with a friend who commented on her hair in a nasty way and just explained that she must have been filled with such a good vibration that he needed to bring her down to his level, this is when my eldest DS chirped in an said 'he's probably got a crush on you', lol.  It's sad though isn't it.  She's a good girl and gets over things really quickly but she does always try and be nice to all.

Ok, enough rambling, I'm still 100% raw, wow I'm so pleased with this, have to pinch myself sometimes to realise that I have come this far, I'm very thankful.

Take care all and have a great day

Tuesday

Mixed salad for dinner

Wednesday

Smoothie
water
apple
trail mix (about a large handful)
Green salad with zuccini fettucini and pesto

Thursday

Smoothie
Warmed up green tea (it's cold today)
six brazil nuts
banana

It's quite cold today so I warmed some green tea, don't know what to have for dinner, maybe a salad with quacamole... not sure.

Nose is congested again, still having about 2-3 bms daily (sorry if TMI) don't really feel that hungry.

Ok, not alot to say today, thanks for reading

Bye now

Title: Re: Lulu's Triumph

Rest of yesterday...

six sunflower crackers with tom on top

Friday

3 dates
5 brazil nuts
$5 worth of dried mango... MWAH MWAH MWAH
cacao smoothie 1/2 jug
5 sunflower crackers with tom
water

I made sunflower crackers yesterday and they are only small (about 7cm dia) but they seem so filling so I didn't get any dinner last night because I was so full.

I finally found some more dark flax seed today, YEH, I'll soak some overnight and make some crackers tomorrow, can't remember when I last had some of these, they're not so heavy so I'm looking forward to them.

Dried mango slices is my weekly treat after shopping, along with a coconut once a week, lol, I know it doesn't sound much does it but it's nice to have a treat just for myself.

It's really wet here today, I've been caught in the rain about three times already, brrrrrrrrrrr I'm staying home now until Monday.

Ok people Day 57, I'll have more pictures next Wednesday, on the 4th which will be two months raw, hubby can see a difference but I see myself too much I really don't see much of a difference, we'll see in the photos.

Take care and thanks for reading.

It sounds like a great treat lulu. Dried mango is my personal fav, i wish i could afford it more often, but its soooooooo good when i have it, yum.

Title: Re: Lulu's Triumph
Post by: lulu on Saturday 31 May, 2008
It is a wonderful treat, I only eat quite simply so that makes it all the better, and not having to share it with the kids, lol.

Day 58

Coconut, blueberry and banana smoothie
5 x sunflower seed crackers with tom
fudge
water
banana
garden salad with - lettuce, english spinach, 1/2 tom, beetroot and 1/2 small avo (was really nice)

I made some fudge today, it must be the wet cold weather, I felt like something a little naughty, although it's not at all, it was nice to have.  I made some flax crackers today so that should be nice for the week also.

My psoriasis is very itchy today, seems to have flared up over the past couple of days, could be the dampness doing it, I'm not sure but it looked much better last week.

Not much happened today, stuck inside doing housework, made the kids clean out their rooms, lol, boy they were noisy today trying to get out of it, lol.  I feel like I need lots of sleep right now.

Thanks for reading, take care

Title: Re: Lulu's Triumph
Post by: lulu on Monday 02 June, 2008
Sunday

Smoothie, banana, blueberry and coconut
fudge
3 flax crackers with avo and tom
fudge
mixed salad same as yesterday

Monday

fudge (lol)
cashews - about 7
almonds - about 4
4 flax crackers with avo and tom
2 mandarins off my tree, yuuuuummmmm
trail mix, handful
dinner will be mushroom (x2) stuffed with guacamole and green salad

Well I've finished my 60 day raw challenge at the end of this day, yeh me.

My next challenge is to continue with being raw and to include exercise 4 times a week for at least 30mins per session.

Today I did a dance workout (DVD) for 45mins, lol, I'm soooooo unco-ordinated.  The kids laughed at me because they stayed home today due to flooded roads. At least I made someone happy today, lol.

I'll take new photos on Wednesday the 4th which is my two month anniversary. When I get to three months I want to do a fast for at least 10 days, so I guess that will be my next challenge, hope I'm not getting too far ahead of myself here.

Ok, got to go start making everyone's dinner now, thanks for reading and I hope the weather isn't too bad where you are.

Bye now

Yes, I agree Gosia, well I seem to be on a banana binge at the moment, yesterday and today I seem to have eaten soooo many bananas, well, more than usual anyway.

Didn't have guacamole for dinner Monday night, just salad with mushroom.

Tuesday

Smoothie
nuts
water
4 x flax crackers with avo & tom
3 x bananas
cashews
dinner was mixed salad

Wednesday - 2 months raw

Large glass smoothie
banana
blended pineapple (about half a jug)
4 flax crackers with tom
2 x bananas
cacao smoothie (about half a jug)
six cashews
dinner will be uuummmmm probably mixed salad with zuccini pasta and pesto, yum.

Have had a slight headache the past couple of afternoons, not sure what this is about but it's not too bad.

Have a great day and thanks for reading

Title: Re: Lulu's Triumph
Post by: lulu on Friday 06 June, 2008
Ummmm, no zuccini pasta on Wednesday, just a mixed salad.

Thursday

Cacao smoothie
4 x flax crackers with tom and avo
large handful of mixed nuts
2 x bananas
smoothie
mixed salad - cos lettuce, spinach, tom, grated carrot and 1/2 corn off cob, this was a really nice salad.

Everyone else had something I would have loved in my past life for dinner and it didn't really affect me at all, I looked at it interestingly yet at no point did I consider wanting to eat it, interesting.  I was probably too full on smoothie.

Still on my banana binge, hubby came home with a branch of bananas straight off the tree yesterday, he said someone brought them to work and no-one else wanted them so he got them, YEH FOR US, FREE FOOD.

Take care

Day 65

Friday

Smoothie
handful of nuts
raw carrot soup - 1cup carrot juice, 1 tomatoe blended together then add corn off the cob (about 1/3) and a little cracked pepper and warm over hot water
smoothie
mixed salad same as yesterday - and I enjoyed it just as much, lol.

When I was counting how many day I'd done at 100% this morning I almost had to pinch myself, it surely has gon sooooo fast, it's hard for me to comprehend sometimes but hey, who am I to question... I am very thankful

1/2 jug of smoothie - banana, coconut & blueberry
brazil nuts (too many, lol)
6 flax crackers with tom and avo
water throughout day

Not that interested in bananas today except for smoothie so that phaze may be over now.  My skin has broken out a little on my face too.  Other than that I'm feeling great.

70 DAYS

I'm still here all, still 100% too.

I didn't keep track of my eating over the past couple of days ooops, but it was the same as usual, simple food with crackers for lunch and salad for dinner.  Made fudge on Sunday and it will be all gone sometime this morning, lol.

Yesterday I felt like COOKED for some reason and I'm thinking it may be because my monthly is due tomorrow, I shall stay vigilant and just eat extra raw if needed.

I weighed myself yesterday and I'm 138 pds which is about a 12 pd loss over 2.5 months???  OK then.

Got to go wake the kids up now, take care and thanks for reading.

Bye

Hi Jen, you could be right, I really hope so as I'd just love to live this life rather than having to constantly keep myself in check.  Maybe I don't now... but must be vigilant.

73 Days

Same old stuff, not bored yet so this is good.

Friday

Mango smoothie
$5.00 dried mango
banana
handful of nuts
banana
cacao smoothie
mixed salad
water throughout day

Must make a mental note to DRINK MORE WATER as I've noticed again in the cooler weather I hardly drink any, this is not good.

My monthly came right on time as usual and I think I was a little less TENSE this month before the event, lol.

I've broken out again, on one side of my neck and on my cheeks, very annoying.  I have found that my nails are looking lovely, not in length (as I've broken a couple) but in their colouring, they look healthy and shiny.

Well I'm off to the Farmers' Market this morning to get some lovely food with the kids, they love sampling everything.

Have a great day and thanks for reading.

Bye now

smoothie - strawberry, blackberry, raspberry and banana (shared with all the kids so I only get 1 glass, lol)
2 Pesto stuffed mushrooms with mixed salad
water
warmed up green tea

I have also had a warmed green tea this morning to try to warm me up but I think my lovely cacao smoothie has now made me freeze again, lol.

Did some extra cleaning yesterday and will probably do some today as well, I'll get those kids working too I think.

Take care then and thanks for reading.

Bye

Thanks Pinky, I totally understand about being busy with kids, I remember sitting on the lounge for what felt like whole days at a time breast feeding James, he was sooooo greedy.

Anyway, it's unusual for me to be here twice in one day so I may as well share something with you all, I've been digiscrapping for the last three months now as I find it hard to do any scrapbooking with my paper stuff anymore with a two year old getting into everything so I thought you might like a sneaky peak into what my family looks like.  It seems the more I'm raw I'm also feeling more creative.

Enjoy your look http://mitsybelle.blogspot.com/

Thanks Pinky, they are beautiful kids (I'm bias but that's ok).  I started having them when I was 25 and they just kept coming and coming, lol and had the last at 40, they are 18 (almost) 15 (going on 2), 14, 9 (almost) and two (going on 15).

Sunday

Warmed green tea
cacao smoothie
five flax crackers with avo and tom
mandarin (to clean out fudge bowl)
blended pineapple - this was sooooooo good but I only got 1 glass because I had to share with kids OHH
handful of nuts
mixed salad for dinner
water throughout day

I didn't get my coconut this weekend as I couldn't find any  anywhere.

It is quite cold this morning and I'm sipping on warmed green tea again but I think that's ok if it warms me up.  I've really been feeling cold the last couple of days though.  Ummm, I might just make my carrot, corn and tomato raw soup for lunch since I'm cold, hee hee, I love that soup.

Ok, thanks for reading and take care

76 Days today

Feeling good, up really early (4.20am) due to junior getting his own bed (at last) and me trying to get him to sleep in it, lol.  This was his second night and he slept in it til 4.20 this morning and then crawled in with me.  The first night I couldn't sleep because he wasn't with me, lol, then he crawled in at about 10.30 and we both fell asleep.  I just love cuddling up on these cool nights, but hubby insists it's time he was out!!!

Monday

Banana
blended pineapple with pink grapefruit
handful of nuts
fudge
1/2 banana
mixed salad with one pesto stuffed mushroom
water throughout day
warmed green tea in morning

Boy that grapefruit goes through you, wow, I didn't know that happened, I was given a couple of them and thought I'd better eat them so I put one in my pineapple blend, tasted fine but I was on the toilet all afternoon, lol.

My skin on my face and neck is still a little bumpy and I keep touching it so that doesn't help.  I didn't end up having my soup yesterday as I was full of the pineapple/grapefruit blend, maybe today I'll have it.

I had a dream last night that my pants were so big they just fell off without undoing them so I had to use a big belt to keep them up, a bit like a hobo or clown would, lol.  I hope I can just buy new one's myself, hee hee but I must admit my pants are getting very loose on me and I'm continually pulling them back up.

Ok, hubby's just getting up now, gtg, thanks for reading

Morning all... day 77, 11 weeks or 2.5 months

Tuesday

Cacao smoothie
$4.00 worth dried pineapple
handful of brazil nuts
fudge
banana and berry smoothie with silverbeet
mixed salad with about 1/4 avo on top
water

Fudge should be gone sometime today hee, hee, I only make it once a week, usually on a Sunday and it lasts til Wednesday.  It's about 20cm x 10cm x 2cm in size so I just cut pieces off as needed, lol.  I think I'll have to put some flax on to soak this morning too so I can make some more crackers today.

I'm wondering if I may be reacting to my perfume, I put it on my neck before taking the kids to school and it's in those exact places that I have bumps... I put it on more out of habit than because I need to so I might just stop using perfume for a while and see if the bumps clear up.  Another strange thing I have noticed (well I've noticed it for a while just forgot to put it here) is that when I bite into a banana my gums bleed... how strange is that, it doesn't happen when I eat anything else, just bananas.  Not heaps of bleeding just blood smudges on my banana, sounds icky doesn't it.

I've been dong alot of thinking about my upcoming fast so I'll be surfing the net to get lots of information over the next couple of days.  I can't afford to be spending hundreds of dollars on juices over the two weeks or so like some do so I'll have to find something that will work $$ wise for me and my health.

Thanks for reading all, take care

Lulu,

A great way to keep prices down when doing lots of juice... is to grow your own micro greens. Do wheatgrass, sunflower greens, pea greens etc. You can grow a tray a day for months on about $20 of bulk purchased seed.

And check out wholesale markets (like Rocklea just south of Brisbane City where the supermarkets and green grocers buy their produce). You can buy boxes of produce very cheap every day, and even cheaper on Fridays. Once on a Friday morning Piers and I got literally 20 cases of fruit and greens there for $100. It was silly. All the sellers try to sell off cheap all their produce before the market closes for the weekend to get ready for new supplies on Monday.

Juicing heaps is very expensive if you buy retail, but can be very cheap buying wholesale. For example organic celery here is $3.99 per bunch but I get it for $1.09 buying wholesale by the case.

Good luck! Enjoy your juicing!
Sheryl

Thank you Sheryl, I appreciate the information.

I had to come on here quickly to write down what I'd been eating because the eating bug has got to me today.

Wednesday

warmed green tea
pineapple juice
blended pineapple and grapefruit (blender full)
banana
about 8 flax crackers with half an avo and one tomato
6 dates
handful of cashews
6 almonds
water (lots)
banana

I think that's it... wow I really needed to eat this afternoon, could be the cooler weather, it started out quite warm today and then got really cool this afternoon.

Dinner will be warmed soup (I've been promising this for the last couple of days to myself so maybe today is the day)

Ok, bye

Your eating sounds fantastic Lulu

I have never been a big fan of pineapple just because it leaves (sometimes) a funny taste in my mouth that I have actually been told (dont know if it is true) means I am allergic to it. So I so rarely have it..... Dried I dont think I have a problem

Love reading your journal keep up the good work

Pinky I can't eat pineapple in it's naturaly state either (maybe 2 small bits) because it makes my mouth sore but if I blend it up like a juice it's wonderful.

Friday (continued)

6 flax crackers with avo and tom
handful of cashews and other nuts while putting them away
cacao smoothie
mixed salad
more WATER

Feeling great, don't seem to be making any further progress, no noticeable improvements in anything lately.  My skin is really dry and irritable right now and the posoriasis doesn't look good at all.

hi Lu Lu, -_-
I'm eating to heal my psoraisis which i have over about 20-30% of my body, my tummy, back, back of my legs, elbows and knees forehead hairline and right hand - when i write this it sounds really bad and i can quite easily get sad over it!  :downcast: Rotton thing!-  but I noticed that you are eating a lot of acid foods - oranges, berries, citrus and pineapple.  I just L-O-V-E those food as well, but my skin does not seem to like them.   :battle:I had a some orange juice and some strawbs the other day and my right hand when balistic, cracked and sore and red, so out went the oranges.  After pondering my diet and being prepared to compromise even more to get rid of this problem  I  decided to cut the citrus out completely and minimise the berries to one small serve per day, and, by accident made a salad with lot of celery, carrot and nuts in it (all i had left in the fridge) and my hand went down, the redness faded; I had heard that celery is great neutralizer and have found that since eating lots of celery and carrot juice in the green smoothie and adding celery to as many salads as i can, my psoraisis has started to fade. My right hand has faded to just a small spot on the knuckle and the large spots on my knees has gone down.  The scale has minimised dramatically and the redness is fading.....   :thumbup:I love celery sticks the tender ones, stuffed with almond or maca paste.
Thanks for posting your journal - I have been raw for 45 days started 25th of April, around the same time as you have, I have not focused so much on loosing weight as eating properly and enjoying what i eat and found that I am loosing weight- i am 55 years old and despite my psoraisis, i swim 6 times per fortnight and average a  walk and weights about   4 times per fortnight.  Many times i have not made that average as i have broken a bone in my foot and that stopped the walking for quite a while.  It is starting to come good now yayyy...... acupuncture is marvellous for bruises and ligament damage!  I think i will start my journal on line as well, I have found yours so inspiring and helpfull- so beautifully honest -thank you so much  :rose: Hope you dont mind the suggestions? -_-

Title: Re: Lulu's Triumph
Post by: lulu on Sunday 22 June, 2008
Thank you Frangipanni, all suggestions are welcome in this journal.

My psoriasis is on my legs and the back of both arms and sometimes on the tops of my feet and yes it is awful, my heart goes out to everyone who has it.  I have read that the 'nightshade' group of foods are not good for psoriasis.  I absolutely adore tomatoes and I could not imagine eating raw without them yet I know I will probably have to go without at some stage...at the moment I would probably have 1 - 1.5 per day, with the pineapple, I have never really eaten it before going raw, it just seems to be what my body wants at the moment, I have been having about one a day or every other day for the past couple of weeks and in that time I've also had 1.5 grapefruit and 1 orange all up so I know I haven't overdone those two, lol.  I rarely if ever have oranges and up until the past week or so NEVER eat grapefruit, pretty much the same with berries, only a handful on the odd day in my smoothie which usually gets shared with all the kids so it works out not very many at all.  The only fruit in this category I would have regularly is mandarin and that's only when they are in season, actually we have a tree in the backyard that we have just about picked bare today and I was thinking I would be living off them for this week, lol.  So I'd say yes I'm probably having too much pineapple lately and maybe too many mandies this week coming simply because we have them and it's saves me buying something else.  I never really thought about citrus and my psoriasis, so I thank you for pointing that out to me.  I would love to have celery more than I do which is NEVER as I really hate the smell of it.  Next week I'm doing a fast and hope to sway more towards the vegetable juices rather than citrus and incorporate lots and lots of water so maybe I will gradually add more celery in the juices each day.

A big part of the way I eat is price.  We are a large family on a small budget so I find pineapples at $1 - $2 each are very cheap.

I didn't want to put too many restrictions on my raw eating too early as I want raw to be enjoyable and comfortable (which I feel it is) and gradually over time I hope my body will renew itself and it will 'tell' me what it needs.

Hope all that makes sense...

Saturday

Smoothie, coconut, banana, berries and baby spinach
40 gms dried mango
1/2 apple
banana

flax crackers with avo and tom

Lulu - my goodness - 83 days and going strong!  I am in awe.  It's funny, I thought of you yesterday when I spotted the dried pineapple as I was poking about in the health food store.

Have you found that your creativity has increased with raw?

I had a look at the links you posted for your scrapbook designs etc. - it was like a whole other language being spoken there.

But, I could understand the pictures, and they were lovely.

 -_-Hi again lulu
a juice fast of mainly carrot and celery with granny apples is really good for psoraisis according to 'Lust' an early writer on fasting using juices around the Ehret era, very alkaline and very soothing, other fruits & veg to include are cucumber, zucchini and pear and grapes, watermelon, rockmelon, honey dew,  little  juice from greens.  According to Lust avoid all citrus.   I did  a 3 day water fast last year which i prepared for like this - 2 days carrot, apple and celery juice with some melon - 3 days water - 2 days juices - After the fast my skin was almost nearly clear  -amazing -, then as i gradually introduced a lot of other things and seem to find that any acid foods really react as the acid accumulates in my body.  The Psoraisis returnd because I ate lots of beans and other things that i am finding now irritate my skin so am aiming to eat less and less citrus and acid base fruit.  Have you thought about waiting till summer when things are much cheaper and are in better supply before doing your juice fast?  Just going raw is a huge stress on your body.
Are you taking a multivitamin?  Often it is a good move to take some multi's - a good brand is blackmores.  I am not sure how you are about fish oil, but i was prescribed cod liver oil 3x per day (blackmores is the only one i know of) and i noticed a huge change in myskin when i started taking these it felt softer and more flexible.  The vit a and D are very important to the skin and the A a good help to the immune system.  This problem, as i continue to discover is an immune system problem which starts with the digestive tract and affects all the other main organs , and as we know the skin is an organ as well.
I hope to do a 7 day water fast at the end of july this year - not looking forwardto that - to do it i will go away for 11 days so that i can rest and not be bothered by having to cook - not easy to do if you have little ones and family commitments so juicing is a very good alternative.

Made a beautiful soup today you might like to try (I based this one on one in a  Raw Power recipe book
4 large  carrots juiced
2 stalks celery juiced
1/4 avo
juice 1/4 lemon (yes citrus that will be the only acid for the day)
fresh young coconut meat to taste about 2 tbsp
blend blend blend and enjoy with salt and pepper if you like?

Title: Re: Lulu's Triumph
Post by: lulu on Monday 23 June, 2008
Thanks for popping in and saying hello MissGiggles and Eve, hope your both doing well.

Miss G I do find I'm getting creative again and thank you for the compliment on my pictures

Eve, I am proud of my progress and I'm very thankful, one very important thing I did learn on the 60 days challenge was to be thankful everyday for all the good, so every evening before I go to sleep I give thanks for every good thing that has happened and for every good thing in my life that day.

Frangipanni, thanks for the information on the juices, I will definately try those.  I don't take any supplements at all, I hate tablet taking and I know sometimes they are needed but I just don't take anything.  I do however have half a teaspoon of coconut oil upon rising in the morning and I have about a tablespoon of flaxseed oil on my salads.

Looking at my arms today I think I will ease up on the pineapple this week and try including more vege juices.  I know they are also dry from the cold snap we are having, once again I am sitting here shivering, I'm such a baby with the cold and it really isn't that cold here at the moment.

How lucky you are Frangipanni to go away to fast, I can't even go to the toilet by myself, lol.

I know it would be easier to fast in the summer months, I have chosen July because it feels right and I would like to do another in October too if it feels right.  I will start on the 28th June (because that's when the School Holidays start) and end on about 14th July which is my birthday making it 17 days, that's my plan anyway but if I can only do 10 - 14 days that's good too.  School holidays were always hard for me to be raw in the past because the kids were home all the time and there always seemed to be so much food around that I wanted but this time around it will be good, last school holidays I used it as an opportunity to 'clean up' their eating a bit because it sometimes needs it, lol so I'll do the same this time around.  I've already explained to them that I will be fasting and the reasons for it and they're good with that.  It's also a time of less running around which is good on a fast.

Monday (day 84)

Warmed green tea
2 x bananas

Making some more crackers today so here is what they are made of, very basic really and others add more in like sundried toms etc but I like my food simple.

1 cup flax seeds (soaked for a few hours in 2 cups water)
small handful of chives
about 1/4 lemon juiced
touch vege salt (some people also like soy sauce or tamari)
dehydrate for a few hours until crisp

Once again, these are very plain but I like them.  The first time flax crackers are eaten they are not always liked but my advice is to try them again with different things.

Ok, that was another long post, thanks for reading

 -_- Hi LuLu,
I fondly recall when i could not even go to the toilet alone - and still when i have my little grandson he says 'you dont mind if i cum in wiv ya nan?'  He's such a sweetie.

Have you visited the Dr Fuhrman website or read any info of his?  He specializes in treating auto immune diseases, but the only way to get any real info is to become a member, I have been a member and dont think i will renew membership though the information he gives is very good.

The information that he gives is based upon the information that you can discover by reading the 'masters' of healthy eating - Bragg, Lust, Ehret, Jensen etc.  They pretty well all say the same as you are doing now, fasting, water, juices, exercise and a raw diet with plenty of variety.

My son is a chinese medicine practitioner with 10 years uni behind him and he says "Mum even chinese medicine is hit and miss with treating psoraisis, the best thing to do for your skin is to do what you are doing.'  and that is 'going raw'.  I was so encouraged to hear this.  He is also attending an autoimmune disease seminar shortly so will bring the good news to me he says.  I am pleased to share this with you if you would like?   :rose:

Funny thing last week i found i was unbelievably cold as well,  I woke at night shivering two nights in a row.  I guessed that i had either not had enough to eat or needed some fruits or nuts with some more fats in them.... Last night i had to have the electric blanket on to keep warm.  I have not been like this ever that i can recall where the cold seems to come from the inside... Up till going raw i have had the opposite problem with the proverbial hot flashes.....55.  I started menopause 7-8 years ago - thank goodness that is all over and done with! Since being raw my body seems to be cooling right down.  With chinese medicine My son said that my body was too hot - which in naturopathic terms means too acidic, he said that i should not eat any acid foods etc and avoid things like onion and garlic - ohhh noooo I just love them.  Since being raw i have not stopped all of them but minimised how much i eat of them.

I have set aside 24th July to fast so will follow your blog and encourage you in your fast.  We are doing it the hard way but with psoraisis there really is no other way............ for a cure.

Monday breaky
blueberry flax seeds, almond milk, banana and date smoothie - yummmmy.
I have done a cost analysis on almond milk to normal milk - using normal south Aust almonds if i make 1 litre of almond milk it costs near the same price as normal milk and is yummy as a "warmed hot chocolate".  If you need the recipe i can post it for you?

Will make the flax crackers when i go home, I am away at present hence the time to blog a lot....
this is another long one too....

Hi Frangipanni, I would love to hear what your son has to say  :ohyeah: I don't eat onion and garlic much at all, alot of people put these into their crackers but I can't, just don't like the flavour of them raw.  I do however eat some spring onion on my salads sometimes.

Monday (rest of)

Lots water (running to toilet all day)
crackers with avo and tom
handful of cashews and brazil nuts
fudge
mandarin
mixed salad for dinner

Tuesday (day 85)

Rockmelon blended to smoothie
cacao smoothie
warmed green tea
banana

Here is a picture of a normal mixed salad for me, it varies slightly, I might have avo one night and mushroom the next etc.

Very simple really, the second photo has my hand in it so you can see the serving size, please excuse the chipped plate, when you have teenagers doing the dishes they don't stay good for very long, lol.

Hi Lulu, -_-
What a lovely salad! mine is much the same love simple salads, the quicker the better no time for too much fuss,  I have forgotten to include mushrooms, used to eat heaps of them, they are delicious, thanks for that, what a good idea to take pics of what you eat.  I will try too so that we can share pics and ideas.
Dinner:  Last night i had some fish then i had my salad, not sure what i enjoyed the most.  My Hubby is a keen fisherman and because the fish is sooooo fresh and clean i thought i would include that in my diet 1x per week and to reassure him that his work is not without gratitude, though he is fully understanding what i am doing and supports it.....Last week they caught tuna and he insisted that i eat some to try RAW - i said that i was not on that type of RAW diet LOL :crazy:but tried some any way - not the type of thing i'd like to fit into my RAW diet :snicker:

I was making some chapati for hubby yesterday and they just looked sooo nice i ate four of them hot and smothered them in butter - and guess what my right hand has broken out a bit today........ sigh :(  Shows me it is either the butter or the flour.  The chapati had sesame and linseeds and oil in them as well.  I have posted my eats for yesterday and today on my journal.
The conference is late July, so will keep you posted....

Tuesday (continued)

fudge
handful of nuts
mandarin
mixed salad with mushroom
Lots of water (I'm sloshing)

Made a small batch of flax crackers this time as they only need to last until the end of Friday.  I made them a little thicker because last time they turned out sooooo thin, lol, everytime I put something on them they cracked.

I've been thinking I may do three days water, three days juice then three days water and then juice again for my fast.  I've done a few fasts over the years (all water) and I know it's just the first two to three days that are hard but once you get over that so called 'hunger' stage it's pretty easy.  My longest fast was a ten day water fast I did shortly after giving up smoking and I felt amazing after I did that but I did feel a little weak on the last couple of days so that's why I'm chosing to add in juices this time around.  I also did a three day 'lemonade' fast in January this year I think but I ended it after three days because I couldn't stand the drink, lol.  I may add a little lemon juice to my water, we'll see.

I'll also put water/juice into a bowl at dinner times for the sake of my two year old who only tends to eat his dinner if mummy has dinner, lol, I'll have it like 'soup'.

Ok, take care and thanks for reading

Hi Lulu    -_-
Tahini is purchased either from the supermarket in the spreads section/healthfood section or in a health food store.  I like the hulled type that is light in colour and not as strong in flavour as the un hulled type which is very dark brownish black colour, the unhulled is better for you, but tooo strong for my palette.  Ahhh at last some thing that you dont have to make that is ok raw!!   :ok:

Man you did 10 days on water.......wow!  If you can do the proposed fast with kids you are amazing... cooking as well!  Will write to encourage you on......on.... and onwards to healing.
I have started making my crackers - will add the lemon and the SALT - a must have as far as i am concerned!!! Will take a pic of them for you to see, thanks for the tip about making them too thin.
Keep up the RAWSOME task of being a Mum and healing yourself    :ohyeah:

Lulu I have never done a water fast but I did a juice one a few months back (actually it was about 11 now cause when I fell off the wagon I found out I was pregnant with Islie). I felt fantastic I got to I think 7 days we were doing it for 30 days but some of them where having fruit like bananas as well.

Good on you for doing a water fast I am so not ready to do anything like that and plus I am breastfeeding I dont think a juice fast would do any halm I am just so not ready yet and you have to do them when you are ready.

Love the water in the bowl idea .....

I will be here to chear you on.

Hello everyone, thanks for popping in and for the encouragement.

Hee hee Jen, yes I've got plenty more chipped plates, cups (you name it I've probably got it) to have a huge crockery party.

Pinky that's wonderful you were able to do a fast before you fell pregnant.

May I stress now that I am not doing a water fast only but a water and juice fast, I need the energy to look after my family so at the moment a full on xx day water fast is not going to happen.

Glad you like the water in the bowl idea, lol, I think that it will feel strange but at least I can still 'eat' with my family, which I like.

Wednesday

I have been so lucky to never have morning sickness with any of my kids.

I was a bit dehydrated with Bella once and threw up. And I also use to get a bit quesey (sp?) especially when eating toast but that is it.... I am one lucky person and I know it :P

Bye now

O.k. I just had to edit it because I didn't know how many days I was, hee hee.  My computer is sooooooo slow at the moment because the kids have downloaded too much this month so we've been slowed down to 'dial-up' speed, lol, not good, it takes forever to do anything.

Ok, bye again

Dau 90 WOW

Day 2 fast

Awww you guys, such a great cheer squad I've got here, thanks a million.

Day two has been good, not hungry at all, drinking heaps and heaps of water, I slosh when I walk, lol.  Going to the toilet alot too in both ways.  I woke up this morning with the fullest bladder in the world, it took forever to empty out, I thought to myself if anyone touched my tummy I'd LEAK, lol.

Have been thinking about chocolate fudge and tomatoes and the smell of bread from the kids really got up my nose today, it's all I could smell which is weird because I haven't craved bread at all the whole time I've been raw, strange.

Well what's for dinner tonight.... WATER... and yes I had my water in a soup bowl with the kids, looked better than it tasted though.  I'm glad tomorrow is the last day of water for a few days, I'm looking forward to some juice, got a couple of young coconuts smiling at me in the fridge.

Ok, thanks for reading and bye.

 :cmon:  Lulu,
Yayyy, well done day two.   I was gonna post pics of my flax bread, but will leave that for a couple of weeks till the fast is over.  By then it is probably time for me do do my fast.

You might want to try this - Brag says in his book on fasting to catch some of  the first pee for the day in a jar this way you can see the toxins that are being expelled from your body.  He says that he lines them up on a shelf  labels them   and compares them daily.      :detox:        I have started to collect jars for my collection     so will see how things progress.  I guess he throws them out at the end of the fast      .

Keep posting

Day 91

Day 3 fast

Thanks Jen I appreciate that.

Well today wasn't as good as yesterday, woke up with a slightly hot head and my stomache felt a bit off too.  Have been drinking heaps of water through the day.  Went and picked up a huge bag of organic juicing apples, carrots, english spinach and pineapple for my juicing over the next few days.  I already have other things to juice at home.

I seem to have a headache now and I feel tired.  No BM's today!!!

I am so looking forward to juice tomorrow, I think I'll start with coconut and spinach, yuuuummmmm, I'm drooling now, lol.

Ok, I've got to go now and get dinner on for the family.

Take care and thanks for reading

Day 92

Day 4 fast (juice)

Well I had the worst sleep last night, Junior woke and came into my bed and then proceeded to wake throughout the night, not good.

When I woke up I had water and then about 1 hour later I had my coconut and large amount of english spinach made into a juice by blending and then putting through a nut bag, the bag has now turned green through the use it's had today, lol.

It was sublime...

Tuesday

water throughout day
coconut/eng. spinach juice
carrot, apple and celery juice
pineapple and eng.spinach juice
dinner will be carrot, tomatoe, eng. spinach and corn juice (maybe warmed slightly as a soup as I'm really feeling the cold now)

Lots of bms today, I tend to get stomach acid rising also, not very nice.

I weighed myself today and I was 132pds - 60.1 kgs, yeh that means I'm down about 17pds - 8 kgs since I went raw, wow, I'm feeling good.

Going to make dinner now, take care and thanks for reading

As Frangi said you are so inspiring. It's not many who can cook for others while fasting. Hugs to you. You deserve them.

Thanks Frangipanni and Jen, it's funny I'm just not hungry at all I think it's more the 'sensation' of eating you miss in the first couple of days but even that doesn't bother me now.

My skin has actually broken out on my face and my psoriasis seems a little redder but I'm prepared for that because I know things can get worse before they get better.

As for the urine, I don't think I'll monitor it that close but it's pretty close to water colour just for the record, lol.

Ok, take care

Lulu you are doing so fantastic. I cant believe you are allready on day 4 (well 5 now).

I agree about the urine I dont think I could stomack keeping it and monitoring maybe not now but maybe later on. I have actually heard (there is a vid on you tube) where the women drinks her first urine to see where she is at. Can give you the link it has great info on raw Ive watch it many times.

Im still here chearing even though Ihavnt posted I have come in and checked on you a few times a day.

Lots of love to you and your family

you have to be joking Pinky - drink weee.  Noooooo      rofl    I just said to monitor it and check out the toxins you are ridding yourself of     rofl
Hi LuLU,
yes the skin getting worse can often happen i read a story of a girl who healed her psoraisis along with many other ailments by fasting and raw foods on Dr Fuhrman's site, she said that 'she endured the preparation time for her fast (30 days), suffered through the fast and was so disappointed to find that her skin was not better infact it was worse .... She clung to Docs word and continued on with the diet he suggests which is basically raw with a few modifications and saw her skin gradually cleared and many of her other ailments were healed.  She had psoraitic arthritis, psoraisis from head to toe (shows pics).  She needs to do 3x water fasts per year now and lots of raw stuff to keep it at bay.  So the treatment does work   :yahh:  its just that our immune systems are shot for some reason... but on the up side we may not get many other things that are manifest internally, ours is external.  Keep on going lulu

Day 93

Day 5 fast (juice)

Thanks for the support Pinky and Frangipanni.  I've seen a vid by either Angela Stokes or Kate Magic about urine therapy but I'm sorry I just couldn't stomache doing that, hee hee.

That poor woman having it all over her body...

Ok I've had some emotions coming up today 'Anger' of all things, for some reason I've been angry pretty much all day and yelling (yes yelling) at the kids, I'm not an angry type of person and I don't go around like a mad woman yelling but I did today, I feel really spent now too, not good.  Tomorrow I'll try and get some quiet time just for me I think just to be.

I'm really enjoying the savoury juices now and I'm up to putting in a whole stick of celery which is amazing for me because I don't like it.

Wednesday

350 mls Coconut, berries & spinach (did not like)
700 mls carrot, beetroot & celery (lovely)
400 mls pineapple/pink grapefruit (did not enjoy very much)
600 mls carrot, tomatoe, celery, sp onion & corn (this was soooooooo good)

2,050 mls in all plus lots of water throughout day

I have these at four different intervals and they are very filling.

Take care and thanks for reading

Bye now

This made me larf! Urine therapy. hmmm. I've thought about it. I heard David Wolfe do a talk about it and he actually made it sound ok! But then when I was visiting the loo I looked down while I was peeing and thought... could I??? Nope, don't think I could. And I won't say never because every time I say never I end up doing
