1  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / Off Topic Chat / Re: rudd's new alcohol campaign on: Tuesday 06 May, 2008
I work in a pub and the amount of oldies that say they wont be coming if the prices go up any more (we've had two price rises this year already due to "inflation") is pretty high.

The younger generations dont realy mind as much, they're more woried about the drinking age moving up to 21. Which I also agree with.

The amount of fights Ive had to deal with because of 18-25 yr olds starting fight (usualy over a female) is ridiculous! If the oldies start anything we bar them and they leave. So in my opinion the younger generation have brought it on themselves and the pre drinking age generation arent helping the cause either.

My 2 cents

"He was a slaughter house meat inspector for most of his working life and that is what turned him off meat and eating processed foods." - Yeah that'll about do it!!

Cheers for that though.  laugh

I'll re-phrase: "I know I can heal myself and always will."

(I thought that if I said that I would look or sound like a weirdo but I should have just said that to start with.)  laugh I dont think people who can are weirdos or anything!!  laugh

Hey Leontine,

Steamed food is cooked, but in my opinion, as far as cooking food goes, its a healthier preparation method then any other (microwaving, grilling, boiling etc) and I think that its a good method to use when transitioning to a high raw or all raw diet.

If you don't mind me asking, when you say 'health pracitioner' is that a naturopath? g.p? You're so lucky to have found a rawbie in the health industrie!!

Cheers

"If you believe you can make yourself ill...do you also believe you can heal yourself?"

I've often felt like I can heal myself. (Sounds all ooooo and woow)

I think illness can be majority psychological; there are some instances where it can’t be avoided though.

I can walk around all winter in shirts, shorts, and no shoes and not get sick. I heard Dr Karl say on Triple J the other week that: "The flu virus is covered in a fatty gel, it needs heat to melt the fat then and only then can the virus take affect. If you have the virus in your system (i.e. the flu vaccine) and you stay rugged up (fire, warm clothes) and have teas, coffees and warm type foods that is all the virus needs to take hold."

I defiantly feel my immune system is allot healthier since being raw

Hey  cool

Great post!!

I hear negative comments about veganism (let alone raw-veganism) all the time!! I’m a raw-vegan Personal Trainer and body builder, so my situation can get a little stressful at times. Usualy when other body builders say:
"Man you wont get as ripped and as awesomly big as me!!"... then proceed to walk off and inject roids!! haha  rofl

I’m happy being vegan and love the raw life so I tend to wear my heart on my sleeve. Most of the people I work with know I'm vegan, so they're ok with it.

However, I deal with the same old comments from clients and gym members day in, day out...
"where do you get protien from...?! Where do you get your iron from...?! Didn't you know you'll waste away...?!" ect ...
My reply is simply:
"Do I look like I’m about to die?!" (Just to paint a picture for you) -----
I'm 6'3, 100kgish, tattooed, goatee, shaved head.. Not your average hippie look I know, more like a tofu eating biker!!  afro

I know to choose my battles carefully... but if they ask with genuine interest, I do my best to inform them.

I know what works for me; this is how I want to live my life. At the end of the day, I don't beleive there is anything anyone could say that would make me change my mind. Period.

So at times it’s hard, and you can feel like an outcast, but that’s where I feel most comfortable. I know for now I'll swim against the current, I'll walk my own path.

Great idea brett   laugh
I think iv got a 5 year old fruity loops programme here somewhere too.
So very do-able!
Anyone else want to join in?

"I have always wanted to learn to play a harp and some of the other folk stringed instruments (think lyre, mandolin) as well as a lap-steel." - Dragonfly_emi. One of my solo projects is "Norwiegan folk music. " Using some of those instruments. The project is called "ULV-IL-SORG." Some of the sounds are keyboards but I like it.

I also have a dark ambient very atmospheric project called "SILENT COCOON" Ive done about 10 or so songs for that one. Mainly keyboards, synth, and elctric guitars

Also a current heavy underground solo project called "STRZYSKOLL" but I think we'll leave that alone here!

So Brett my next question is what sort of music do you think it should be? I'd like to try some blues n roots style feel good music, what do you think?

Hey Chelle  laugh
Great to hear you’re doing so well and still inspired by raw.
  laugh laugh laugh

Emotion can play a big part in people’s lives when it comes to food. (Especially raw) and managing that is one obstacle we all try to overcome. Chelle you said it perfectly when you said " dealing with emotions as they arise"
As opposed to bottling them or letting them spill into everyday life. So a big well done to you  afro

Just purely out of interest.

Who and how many raw foodies are musicians?
I know dbass and brett are, but who else?

Do you have myspaces, band websites, and songs for download?

Are you influenced/inspired by raw, veganism, health?

Even if you just write songs/poems.

Just to get the ball rolling:
I play guitar (acoustic, electric) bass, drums, piano, synth, violin, pan pipes and tin whistles.
I’m basically session musicians with a few local bands and have my own solo projects, but would love to collaborate with other like minded musos.

Thanks Dianne  laugh (hugs received)
I think it was a relevant quote for this thread and its truth resonates a lot with me personally.

"I am still eating some eggs and fish but every time I eat them, I think about the information in these two DVD's and my consumption gets less and less over time and each time." - KittyK

Hey Kittyk hang in there mate and you'll get there when you’re ready.  ohyeah   laugh

I know I watched all the Peta videos, namely "The Goriest Video Ever", and some that Pam Anderson did about KFC and I made the choice to be vegan there and then. I had great support from my g/friend who was vegan and that made all the difference, so if you want support then Raw Pleasure is the place.  laugh

I told my sister about the Peta video and she watched it of her own accord and has been vegetarian for over a year now and wants to be vegan in the not to distant future.

Does anyone have any videos that helped them or know about any? (besides all the Peta ones)

Cheers

“Man is just another animal, sometimes better, more often worse than those that walk on all fours, who, because of his "divine spiritual and intellectual development" has become the most vicious animal of all!”

Please tell me how people can do this?!

In Alaska, another season of aerial wolf hunting has already begun. Easy targets against the white snow, wolves are gunned down by trophy hunters in low-flying aircraft. Sometimes the hunters chase wolves to exhaustion, land, and then shoot tham at point-blank range

I wouldnt mind my own low flying aircraft and hunt these "Trophy Hunters" down

sorry for the downer post but I needed to vent.
