1  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Re: raw as by media on: Monday 29 September, 2008
I actually didnt find that article too bad, at least it wasnt straight out bashing. There were positives mentioned in it.

I think the reason why there were positives is that the writer knows that in order for the majority of people to be deceived, there needs to be some truth.  It makes it look like the article is well balanced and not trying to push one side of the argument on the reader.

Vita-mix will do the job but use a slow speed setting.  Too fast and the vita-mix starts smokin'. thumbup
3  Locally RAW / Australia & New Zealand / Young coconuts for sale in Sydney on: Monday 29 September, 2008
Hey Sydneysiders,

Luke from Sunrise Coconuts is sending me down 500kg of organic young (drinking) coconuts from Queensland today, to arrive later in the week.  If anyone wants to buy some at cost price ($3 each) they can pick them up from my place in North Strathfield once they arrive.  They are still in shell so a meat cleaver or machete works fine otherwise you can just bash it over a sharp rock.  PM me for more details.

Just eaten my own weight in super sweet red and green grapes!  ohyeah

Wow, eating your own weight in grapes, that's quite a lot.  I don't think even Durianrider could eat that many. laugh

OK.  Problem I have is I need to be given time off work to go get the coconuts.  Haven't confirmed with Luke yet but I should be given time off on 29th September so I'll see if I can order them for then.

Steve I saw boxes of coconuts at back to Eden the other morning next time I will ask how much they cost , I guess they must have been organic ?

I know the ones you mean.  They are not organic.  They're probably around $1.50 each.  Once you've tried the organic ones it's hard to go back to the irradiated, formaldehyded, conventional Thai ones.

I was performing beat to quarters and ceremonial sunset in Nowra on Saturday night.  Luke (the coconut guy) was supposed to be getting back to me with details about the drop, but he's been a little busy.  Will hopefully be getting those 500kg of coconuts soon.  Oh yeah, and if anyone else in Sydney wants any organic young coconuts in shell, send me a pm and I'll save you some.  Pick up point is North Strathfield. Probably will cost around $3 each.

Went to the wholesalers this morning and bought 18kg oranges, 13kg bananas, 10kg kiwi fruit, 8.2kg watermelon, box of papaya, box of black sapote, 24 punnets strawberries, 24 punnets cherry tomato and 1kg baby spinach.  Came to just over $400, that's what you get for buying so many strawberries.

I was spending $500 - $600 a week on fresh organic produce for me each week (crazy Sydney prices), but since I started buying from the organic wholesalers I've cut that down by half, and it'll probably get cheaper as Summer draws near.
10  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Re: Casualties from crazy combos! on: Monday 25 August, 2008
A typical lunch I would make when I first transitioned to raw would include:

peas, snowpeas, carrots, beetroot, pumpkin, sweet potato, parsley, broccoli, cauliflower, asparagus, string beans, onion, garlic, sweet corn, chickpeas, lentils, zucchini, capsicum, cucumber, tomato, sprouts, lemon, dried apricot, sultana, sunflower seed, pumpkin seed, mature coconut meat, avocado, olive, olive oil, coconut oil, agave nectar, salt & spices.

A typical dinner would be:

dates, sultanas, muscats, mature coconut meat, macadamia butter, cacao powder, agave nectar, coconut oil.

These days I enjoy eating almost exclusively mono meals.
11  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Re: pain after watermelon on: Monday 25 August, 2008
I've experienced the same thing.  I don't know why it happens, but I do suspect that it may be the quantity eaten.  I didn't realise how much watermelon I actually eat in a sitting until I weighed myself once before and after eating.  It takes a lot more watermelon for me to reach satiation than any other fruit, but it doesn't feel like I'm eating more of it.  I think the speed I eat may also be a factor so I make sure I chew it well now.

Hey Free,

I think I remember Doug says on one of his CDs that the higher your body fat %, the lower your body water %, and the harder it is to quench your thirst.  Not saying that you're fat, but being a chick you bf% would be higher than some of us guys who have single digit bf%.
13  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Re: Food combining on: Sunday 27 July, 2008
Hey there Janne,

Well done on making a very attractive and easy to use chart.  I've seen lots of these charts and yes, none of them are the same, so it can be confusing which food goes where.  I'd few things I'd change would be:

Avocado, olive, macadamia, pecan, coconut flesh and maybe pinenuts in the fat category
Dates are sweet fruit
I don't think tomato combines well with starches
In my experience only the tender leafy greens combine well with fruit, not stuff like kale and collards.

I haven't ventured out that far West to know of any shops sorry.  There's a few places around Flemington (about 25km East of Blacktown) where you can buy produce at wholesale prices if you're willing to buy by the box.  I shop there for myself and save a couple of hundred dollars a week.

Here's a link to an old thread with some info.
