31  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Re: amazing dreams, what's yours??? on: Saturday 10 March, 2007
Princess, I recall a conversation I had a few years ago with the same friend I mentioned in the previous post.  She said she used to have dreadful dreams.  But it turned out that she was working through all her "karma" stuff within her dreams instead of real life.  So in the end it was less traumatic.  I imagine it would still linger in the consciousness for a few days as your dreams appear to.

And I too know not to read anything vaguely freaky in the evening.  These days I don't read many novels like that.  But I did read Perfume last week, and had to make sure I read it in the mornings.  Fascinating story once I started it, was a bit concerned that I wouldn't be able to stomach it after reading the film review.

Sweet Dreams

Brett you made me laugh with your cigar is just a cigar quote.  A friend threw that one at me a few years ago.  My reply was "unless you are Monica Lewinsky"   cheesy

33  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Re: Apple slinky machine...get your kids to eat apples... link to win one also! on: Saturday 10 March, 2007
I have one of these in the cupboard, they are lots of fun.  The only downside is the fruit has to be reasonably uniform.  Any of those gorgeous lumpy deformed apples don't peel very well.  So today I will go to the market and get some low spray apples, and pull my apple peeler thingy out of the cupboard.
Actually I have had this around longer than the kids, um got it about 21 years ago.  Gosh that makes me sound old  smiley .  But I'm not really, only feel about oh somewhere between 17 and 24.

Love and apple peelings

Hi Jen

Glad to hear that your headaches have moved on.  But for future reference just wanted to let you know what I learnt today.  When I hold in my anger (and sometimes I am not even aware of it) and don't speak up about what's bugging me, then my neck and the base of my skull gets really sore and I get headaches.  Maybe you have something similar.

So the lesson is speak thy truth madam, and you will not turn into a madman (or woman)   rolleyes

Blessings
Jacque

PS Love the new name.

oh Jen

You are amazing darling.  I had an epiphany this afternoon as to why my world felt like it was falling apart, and it was simply that the food that my life revolves around is changing.  So therefore I change, and bits of the old me drop off.  And I only started dipping my toes into the raw river again over the weekend.
We can be far too hard on ourselves at times and fail to recognise just what we have achieved.  I think you are a legend Jen.

I am so inspired now.  I have a saggy eyelid and slightly lax facial muscles after having Bells Palsy when I was pregnant 10 years ago.  I know what you mean about no one else noticing it.  But it is my little "thing" that I wish would just get sorted out.  Thank you so so much for posting this.

37  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / Off Topic Chat / Re: The poo thread on: Tuesday 27 February, 2007
Jennie, you ask the most interesting questions.  I had started reading this thread the other day, then today I was thinking about mentioning the squatting contraption, and lo and behold it is already mentioned.  I have seen them in the New Vegetarian and Natural Health magazine, I think you can buy them through there Suecq.  But all I use is a step stool, like you have for kids to be able to step up and sit on the loo (or for little boys to just stand up).  It makes a lot of difference, especially when one is vertically challenged anyway.   cheesy

38  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Re: WARTS on: Tuesday 27 February, 2007
In a metaphysical sense warts represent hate.   Louise Hay's little blue book says "Warts - Little expressions of hate.  Belief in ugliness."  The affirmation to counter this is "I am the love and the beauty of Life in full expression"

39  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Re: Raw & ADD/ADHD on: Friday 16 February, 2007
Hi Amy,

My husband's nephew was diagnosed ADD several years ago.  And he was medicated.  I recall being horrified, but felt that it wasn't my place to comment as I didn't know my sister in law very well, and three other sisters are nurses, so any information I offered would be disregarded.  So I figured anyway.  Why is it that people in the medical profession are most likely to medicate everything.  (yes I realise that is a generalisation)  I have no idea how he ended up with medication, I do recall a comment that it settled him down.   rolleyes

I have in the past been asked if my girls are ADD.  They have high energy levels and are always on the go.  When they were in Prep (about 6 years old)  I took them to an anthroposophical doctor who was recommended.  I can't even remember what it was that we actually went for.  She used divining to determine this and that.  We took them completely off sugar and wheat (even spelt was banned)  and she also used a procedure called Jin Shin Jitsu, (you can check that out on the web).  This was done on a Saturday, and they started a new term at school on the Tuesday.  Their teacher sought me out after the first day and asked what I had done with them.  Apparently they were the only children who wouldn't sit down during lunch, they just kept getting up and wandering around.  But this day they had been able to sit still, amongst other things.
I wonder if it was the change in diet or the Jin Shin Jitsu that was the contributing factor.  I tend to favour the latter.  However the dietry change was significant over a longer period, and probably helped them to be more in control of their bodies.

Interesting topic Amy.  And some very interesting answers

Blessings

Brett

I recall seeing a magazine advertisement (can't remember what for) that state something along the lines of a three course meal for 5 people uses xxxxx litres of water.  Now I will have to try and find it, or it's going to drive me crazy.

41  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Re: Respect for raw foodist's living with non-raw foodists. on: Monday 12 February, 2007
Hey Brett,  I am in your camp.  Addictive personality.....   evil  Makes life fun transitioning to raw with two children to cater for, slowly slowly.  I need to go cold turkey if ever I change something, except when removing cups of tea from my diet.  I have to do that slowly or I turn really nasty.....  for days and days.
Sometimes I think Pea that it would be great to live either by myself, or have everyone else in the house on raw.  Nah, I think raw on my own would actually be easier, if I had to cater for everyone else transitioning at the same time it would be way too much for me.  Just one at a time will do......   Well done for not giving in to the rice, we just need to remember that we deserve the best.

Hugs

Sorry I only have lots of cooked recipes for plums   rolleyes

Lou, sounds like you are having fun dehydrating.

Jen, some people consider the greengage plum to be one of the superior tasting plums.  You can also get a golden gage plum.  As Lou said you probably wouldn't find them in the shops.  They are quite an old variety I think.
My favourite plum is the blood plum..... mmmmm heaven.
Got some new seasons pears today..... yum.
