46  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Beauty / Getting Rid Of Dandruff Naturally ! on: Saturday 25 June, 2005
I apologise if you all know this..but just a tip for getting rid of dandruff : mix 1 part apple cider vinegar to 2 parts water and massage into your scalp with the pads of your fingers after washing, then rinse well.

So much better than commercial stripping dandruff shampoos. Also a few drops of eucalyptus in the final rinse can asssist too.

Happy days, Franny xx

Saturday and I am eating sultanas, pepitas, sunflower seeds and dates. Drinking soy milk and dandelion. For the latter end of the day I had home made hommus and carrot sticks and for tea I had 4 small l-f muffins, cheese, crackers, passionfruit olives. Oh and my usual 2 litres of water.
My friends came round and we went for a woodland walk along with my husband and daughter .

The woodland is alongside an estuary and it is the most beautuful walk imaginable, we saw black parrots and heard them crunching pine cones, wallabies, looked at shells and pebbles. There can't be anything better than this ! I used to be such a townie, pubs, fancy frocks and nights out and now, nothing feels better than the clean ( ish ) air, a lovely environment, nature, early mights, healthy food and a darn good book.

I joke that I am getting old ( 33 ) but in truth I think I am just happy. Could I ask for more ?

No,

Be happy, Franny xx

I wonder if anyone can tell me about their positive and negative experiences regarding colonics. Also too I am looking for someone in the north of Tasmania who performs them. So far I have had no luck.

All responses very welcome, thankyou, Francesca Smiley

Rest of day was ok. I havd brown rice, ginger, tuna, nori and carrot for tea. The some fruit/choc biscuits and a fruity bar. Ooooh I also forgot a few chick pea chips, and oh no I can hardly mention it...a wholemeal muffin with jam ( whisper this ) and tahini !

Felt like I was clean inside from an impressive " clean out ".

Today I am on a mission. So far I have had dates, apples x 2, oranges x 2, a banana, several kiwi fruit, water, my lemon in hot water for my liver tonic, soy and dandelion.

You know how I had chocolate last night, well I had much less than normal, I usually munch all through a whole family size bar, and this time I just had a few squares. Not only that, but it tasted so thick gluggy and sickly that i didn't really enjoy it either. I know I dropped off the wagon, but at least I recognised how it felt and will endeavour not to repeat it.

In two weeks time then I am totally responsible for my own eating and I am looking forward to keeping it more raw than now.

I also bought a food dehydrator yesterday, which I am very excited about usuing. Not only that but am looking forward to our daughter eating the fruit and bveg from it. She loves crackers and I am hoping she will see the dehydrated food as a suitable replacement.

I am also going to book in for a colonic or two, I have been inspired and educated by someone who has been most helpful to me.

More later, Franny

Had beans, tuna and lf mayo as well as some chilli and coriander crisps.

My skin feels a lot softer and my dreams and sleeping have been better. Well my dreams were intense and quite scary actually but I was so out of it in such a deep sleep, I love waking up and feeling like I've had a good sleep. Hope this continues.

Finished the day with organic pumpkin soup, one wholemeal English muffin and some dates later on. Very pleased with myself. I have an appointment with the naturopath on monday at 4.30pm to discuss my eating and natural health crusade. I'll let you know how I get on.

Had a cranberry soy yoghourt instead of dates. Is that alright ?

Watched the " Shawshank Redemption ". Great film, love Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman. Felt very emotional at the end, is that normal or is it detox ? Is it both... ?

Good morning ! Slept like a log again. I had a mouth full of gunk this morning so hopefully that is a sign of mild detoxification.

On my menu today I have : dates, apples, oranges, melon, banana, hot water and lemon, dandelion drink, and 2 litres of water. I also have pumpkin soup, vegetables and fish for the slightly less raw part of the day.

I have realised that as long as I ma organised I can keep up with this really well. I do need to go for a walk though as I know this will push my to lose weight slightly more swiftly. I guess it's harder to lose when you don't have a right lot to get rid of.

Reading a good yet quick book called '365 ways to energize yourself'. It's all what we basically know really, but it doesn't hurt to be reminded.

Wheewwwff...the house is gasland plus !!!

So how did the rest of the day pan out ? I had steamed blue grenadier, asparagus, potato, purple cabbage and parsley sauce for tea. My snacky stuff was cheese cucumber pickled onions and a few crackers, as well as a soy chocolate drink, cereal bar and dried apricots. I think I am eating way too much food and way too late at night.

I got my food dehydrator today and it is working as we speak. i put pears, tomatoes, kiwi fruits, apples and oranges in it to try it out first. We'll see how we go.

I love the idea of picking fresh herbs from the garden and drying them for herbal tea and also for bath herbs crushed. Ahhh so many possibilities.

Day four of my unbitten nails and I am feeling happy about that too.

Not surprisingly last night's foray wioth cheese made me feel like I was full of polyfilla by bedtime...oh well.

So today so far I have had a soy milk smoothie, with dates and 2 bananas.

I have a bag full of dehydrated fruit and veg to munch on from my new dehydrator...yippee ! Also a segment ( large ) or watermelon and some more dates.

I forgot to mention yesterday that there were 4 sorts of homemade biscuit/cake type things at recess at work and I did not touch them. Everyone said how good I was for eating my honeydew instead, I felt in control. Nails are still growing too.

Hot water and lemon for breakfast to drink as well as the usual 2 litres of purified water.

More later.

I completely avoided the scones at morning tea and got many queries about my dehydrated fruit !

Am getting a few pimples so hopefully that is detox, my insides are feeling better now too.

I have two oranges just peering at me in a most appetising way, might eat them now

Later on I had a very small handfull of sunflower seeds, 2 x l-f apricot bars and for tea we had pasta with mushrooms. I used to eat 3 huge bowls of pasta, I had 2 small bowls that our daughter kept picking at too. I feel totally sated.

This morning the scales showed I had dropped another 1/2 kilo..yes ! I have a headache right now though and I have eruptions of pimples about my face. I know that this is a detox thing, so am happy about it really.

My husband said my skin was looking good and my jeans feel floppier..not heaps, but enough to notice. The thing I notcie most of all is that I feel happier and more optimistic...and I have been lessening my muvox for depression medication too. Nails are still intact, and sleep is great !

All is well with the world !

Fri Jun 24, 2005 4:55am

Today I am fruit woman. I have lots of dehydrated food in my lunch box, apples, oranges kiwi fruit, and also an apple fruit leather that I made. I don't suppose this counts as raw since I had to puree it and then dehydrate it...oh well. I had a soy smoothie with grapes, yoghourt !!! and dates in it for breakfast.

My weight is steadily decreasing, my nails are starting to lok great, I don't even need to use lip balm more than a couple of times a day. I used to be always putting it on, and I became a little panicky if I hadn't got one with me  Sleep is still coming nice and easily, my outlook is positive. I wonder if it anything to do with an improved diet, or is it psychosomatic or maybe a bit of both. I guess I don't mind either way as long as it continues.

Who knows what I'll achieve on 100% raw if this is how I feel after a 50% change ?

My chin and jaw area is breaking out still with pimples, unusual for me so yes I am convinced detox is at work here.

Ok this is how it is. I feel mean expecting my husband who is our chef to cook three meals for us all different ( the baby myself and him ) so I am going to be raw until lunchtime. In three weeks he goes away to work for six months on and off ( mainly on ) and at that time when I am the person reponsible for cooking the meals, then I will attempt more ' rawness '. I think this makes sense.

However I will journal from now on even though I am aiming at only 50%.

So day One :
so far I have had : lemon in water, 2 litres of water, an orange, 2 x mangoes, red grapes, green grapes and some nasty tasting pineapple.

My friend just asked me what I was up to and I told her receiving a confused ( as to why I would be doing it ) response, but she told me ' how good I was ' so that was nice.

Up to one o'clock, all is raw ! I was strong enough to even say no to home made cheese scones at work today and it didn't hurt one bit !!!

More later, Miss 50%, piggygrig xx

Ok the day ended a little carbohydrate heavy, but I am remembering that just 50% is all I ask at this stage.

For tea I had wholemeal English muffins, Low=fat cottage chees and tahini. Oh and 3 small slices of sultana bread, margarine and jam.

I drink dandelion and soy beverage is that ok ?

Miss 50% xx

PS Have a yucky taste on my tongue. Feeling a little more confident about things on the whole.

I also have a lot of Louise L Hay affirmation cards, they cover health, wealth, self-esteem and creativity. I blu-tacked them all over my office window and make an effort to read one each time I look up.

Ok next day, all pumped and raring to go, the scales are being nice to me so all is good !

So far : 2 bananas, a mango, water, dandelion and soy drink ( got to have something for the coffee substitute ) 1/2 avocado, soaked 3 bean mix, some more of that nasty tasting pineapple and dates. I also started the day with warm water and organic lemon squeezed in.

Feeling good after a really nice night's sleep. Our daughter has been ill all week so it is such a relief to get some sleep after a week of upset nights.

More later,

Franny.

PS Reading Dr Joshi's wholistic detox book. So far so good.

Ate some tuna.Small can...low-fat !

Feeling bloated, but I think that is my fault as I don't like going to do a BM at work. Not 'cause I am prudish but because there is simply nothing like your own toilet ! So instead I feel uncomfortable and hold on 'til i get home. I know that's not a healthy thing to do.

Tea was pretty average...blah ! For tea I had wholemeal English muffins, Low-fat cottage cheese and tahini. Oh and 1 small slice of sultana bread, margarine and jam.One very small 1cm square piece of choc slice that my baby left and I just couldn't bare to throw out into the chicken bucket.

I have a headache, just a mild one. I have noticed that I have no cravings whatsoever. My husband was going to get a pizza for tea and I said I didn't want any, and I always loved cheese tomato and the good old thin crust before.

The flatulance I am having is mind boggling !!

See you tomorrow

Ok much better today. So far, 1/2 a papaya ( i don't really like them but thought it would be a good thing to try ...was ok ) a banana, my dandelion and soy drink, home made hommus, chick peas, organic lemon, olive oil ( best quality ), nice strong garlic, sea salt, and tahini. I did have my nine grain crackers though.

Yesterday when I ate the fruit biscuits i had this psychological feeling of fat all over my bum and belly. I know it is just me feeling congested, but I sure love that clean streamlined feeling I get from eating more healthily. More later.

Hello again, for the rest of the day I had home made curry and rice and Chinese brocolli and a sesame crisp...had my usual 2 litres of water and herbal tea. I am feeling a bit peckish right now though and may have to have some fresh fruit. Actually no I will have some dates...love them !

I need to get into a bit more exercise than I am doing right now. My weight is dropping and I am feeling a lot better, but I know daily walking and and yoga a couple of times a week will benefit me enormously. I am looking forward to the 100% raw times ahead, so much happens so quickly. I ahve been reading lots of inspirational books recently and have ordered some inspirational CDs to listen to to and from work each day. Life is looking good...and may I say my sex life has also improved too !

Here's to great health,

I had a few people make positive comments or rather interesting comments about my eating today, about how healthy it looked and the funny comment was " Could we be the first to have the film rights to the way you eat...?" I was really luxuriating over one of my beloved mangoes, eating slowly and enjoying every mouthful.

I am consciously thinking about eating and chewing much more with my food. Certainly makes the food last longer

Lunch consisted of lf mayo, kidney beans and a tin of tuna in water. I am feeling full. I am so shocked, though I shouldn't be, to feel so different in such a short space of time. I never would have believed it. But it is true, and people are noticing. I also easily glossed over a lovely home made cake that appeared at morning tea. No inclination whatsoever to eat it...wow ! A first.

I am also tring hard to eradicate my bad habit of nail biting and for some reason it too seems to be less difficult than I believed it to be. Still it is only day one.

More later, Franny

55  Go RAW! The Testimonial Section! / RAW Journals - Your RAW Experiences / Dehydrator on: Friday 24 June, 2005
Hello there,

Just wanted to add my two bobs-worth. I am currently only about 70% raw, mainly due to the fact my husband is the chef at home and I really don't expect him to do different meals every day.

However he is such a lovely bloke that he is compromising for me and making the meals more raw than ever before. I am glad about this for his health and our daughter's health too. He even allowed tofu into his cooking this week !

As he works away from time to time I will be responsible for myself then and I will be 100% raw during that time. I'll have six months more or less to challenge myself.

Bronnie ...any tips of encouraging my toddler to eat more raw. She is into putting it in her mouth and then spitting it out, unless it's cucumber, dates or peeled apples ??

I just got our household a dehydrator and love it. I am hoping I can surreptitiously disguise the food as ' crackers ' which our daughter loves, but will be a way for her to eat her fruit and veg.

Happy days,
Franny xx
