1  Locally RAW / Australia & New Zealand / Re: Raw vegan retreat 12-14 Dec, 2009 on the Central Coast, NSW on: Wednesday 26 November, 2008
cool  Going to be a great weekend if the first 3 retreats were anything to go by!  Looking forward to all that fresh organic produce, yummo.
I don't generally buy organic for myself for a few reasons mainly availability in my area but am growing my own stuff now.  Just picked cos and silverbeet for my salad, it's a start.....

4  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Re: How to make Rejuvelac? on: Monday 10 November, 2008
laugh  Hey Rita  -  if it smells you either:

- left the wheat to sprout too long
- didn't rinse properly
- weather really hot and/or left to sit too long

I think any hard wheat is suitable and have even done it with sprouted barley.  If you are in a hot climate, it must be stored away from sunlight and then you need to remember where it is and check on it.  2 days maximum for bubbles.   When I have forgotten it, yes it does get frothy and tastes off so catch it when it just bubbles but doesn't froth.   All might sound a bit complicated but when you have made it a few times it becomes routine and easy like soaking almonds for milk etc.

5  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Re: How to make Rejuvelac? on: Sunday 09 November, 2008
laugh  I've been making rejuvelac for about 3 years now and 9 times out of 10 get a perfect batch.   Tastes pretty good too like lemon barley water.

I buy hard wheat or bean wheat.   Put 1 cup of the dry wheat in a 4 litre jar, cover with water and leave to soak 24 hours.   Put a piece of Chux cloth with rubber band over the opening.  Drain and rinse well.   Leave another 24 hours to sprout.    Then top up with 4 litres filtered water adding 1 slice lemon, 1 sliced orange and about 2cm sliced fresh ginger.  Put in shady place in house.  Depending on season, 2-4 days later give it a wiggle and you will see bubbles coming to the top which means it's ready.   Strain into bottles and store in door of fridge.
Supposed to be an aid to digestion and I think it does help.  Even though I am gluten intolerant, using the sprouted wheat this way seems to help and not cause my usual gluten side effects.
Haven't tried to cheese with it yet.

cool Hey Zep I also have Don Tolman's FDR  - fabulous but just haven't had time to read it all so not sure if he details the 28 day cleanse.  He does mention it on page 23 and page 50 if you haven't got to those pages yet..

Where are you located?   In Sydney we have raw food potlucks every month and other meetups.  We also have Grant doing a raw talk on fasting etc Sunday 16th November.  Other states do have potlucks too, look under the Australia/New Zealand section on these wonderful forums.

8  Locally RAW / Australia & New Zealand / Sydney Raw Afternoon Talk by Grant a.k.a. Raw Aussie Athlete - Sunday 16th Nov on: Saturday 01 November, 2008
yahh  Great opportunity to ask questions and meet Grant a.k.a. Raw Aussie Athlete.

Sunday 16th November @ 3pm.   See websites below for details.

As an ultra marathon runner and being involved in other activities including swimming, running, rock climbing, canyoning and surf lifesaving, Grant lives life to the MAX.  He has embraced the raw vegan lifestyle 100% and is now a shining example of how an 80/10/10 diet can literally change your life.  The 80/10/10 diet is about ‘balancing your health, your weight and your life, one luscious bite at a time.’  -  Dr. Douglas N. Graham.

Grant spent 3 months earlier this year studying as an intern with Dr. Doug in his fasting retreat.  This was followed by bushwalking in Costa Rica and on his return from the walk; he began a supervised 29 day fast.

In June, Grant travelled to Thailand once again, to meet Harley for what has become an annual trip to feast on the tropical fruits especially the durian fruit.   Harley is an elite endurance cyclist and is better known in the raw food circles as Durian Rider, a passionate and outspoken advocate for raw vegans.

September found Grant returning to America to tour with Dr. Doug at some of the raw food festivals and to participate in his Sports Camp.

The talk will cover 3 segments: raw health, increased raw athletic performance raw and fasting.  This will be followed by afternoon raw fruit delights and then question and answer time.  Grant will also talk on his next raw retreat to be held in the middle of December.  Don’t miss out on this retreat, the last one filled up in a couple of weeks.

This is a huge opportunity to meet Grant and benefit from the wealth of raw knowledge he has amassed through personal experience.

There is $10 cover charge for those wishing to attend.     laugh  joybell

9  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Re: Extremely tired and fatigued on: Thursday 23 October, 2008
Sad  Hello RC, sorry to hear you feel so tired.  Since going raw I have stopped having my little nap in the afternoons after work.   That was 3-4 years ago but I did detox for a few weeks with all sorts of things.  It helped for me to keep a health diary.  Each week I wrote down changes in my body, what was happening etc.
Sometimes we forget as months go by just what we were dealing with before we made changes.  They do happen slowly but surely.

There is a naturopath I have yet to meet but I really liked her quote at the end of her signature on emails:
"The Doctor of the future will give No Medicine, but will interest his
patients in the care of the human frame, in diet, and in the cause and
prevention of disease."
-Attributed to Thomas Alva Edison"

Understandably you do not want medication so perhaps a naturopath would be the solution to put your mind at rest, if you would like her name and number let me know and I will PM them to you.

10  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Re: Please for the love of God.... on: Thursday 23 October, 2008
cool  Hey Raw Connection, I live in Western Sydney....     and you're hoping for a Raw restaurant -  lol

We haven't even got the potlucks going in this area yet, mainly held close to or in the city area.  Have you been to the potlucks at all, if so maybe we have met?   Whereabouts in the West are you?  PM me if you prefer.

I made fruit breakfasts and salad lunches for 2 ladies once for a 2 week period just to get them started on raw but they were both near me so no petrol costs involved or extra time for travelling.  I make my own dishes every day including dehydrated treats so could make for an extra person if all the variables were good.  LOVE my raw food.

12  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / Off Topic Chat / Re: What do you do for a (raw) crust? on: Monday 13 October, 2008
laugh  Hi Bobbi  -   I started my own healthy food workshop business!   At the moment it is part time till things pick up so for half the week I am in an office like Sweetpea, right next to the kitchen!   Boy can I relate to those cookings smells that come out of the microwave while people nuke their food.
I am organised, make my salad the night before when I go to the office job, prepare my fresh fruit in the morning.  Take lots of snacks like nuts, dried fruit, home made treats from the dehydrator.
The other half of the week I am organising my workshops so I only have good stuff in the house and am constantly trying out new raw recipes.
Eventually I will be able to resign from my office job and focus entirely on spreading the raw word, I can feel it coming...  in my raw bones..  lol

13  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Re: Societies problems or The machine within? on: Sunday 12 October, 2008
ohyeah   Go the RAW community!    We really really really do need to start doing this.   And spreading the word as all you lovely people are doing.   Trying to lift the blinkers off people around us.

I contacted Planet Ark after our last National Tree Day and suggested that next year we have National Fruit tree planting day.................    got a lovely polite repsonse saying that it wasn't 'environmentally responsible' to just plant any old fruit tree in any old spot and sorry but they couldn't really endorse my idea.

Just keep telling people to plant a tree in a pot, in the ground.   joybell

:mellow    :   "The illuminati / one world conspiracy / new world order ~ may just be on its way!'

It may be on its way and unless we all start to do something, it will get here.  Once people start to realise that this could happen, there might be some action.  Sadly, in most of the Western world we are all TOO COMFORTABLE, too busy, brainwashed.  Heaven forbid we miss the next episode of some reality TV show or miss a lesson from our Thai cooking class or have our weekend family get together interuppted.  Just too busy to pay attention until it is too late.

In the past, countries and peoples that were downtrodden, surrounded by poverty were more likely to rise up and go agaisnt the ruling powers.  What did they have to lose?  Nothing.
