16  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / Off Topic Chat / Re: in the supermarket today... on: Tuesday 12 June, 2007
My DS18mths (Vegetarian that eats cooked food - by order of the 'experts' yawn - long story)... Will actually choose fruit over other foods. If he's eating toast & Im eating an orange he says 'want some?' & points then ditches his toast & goes for my orange!!! How Proud I am!!!!
& its the cutest thing... When we go to the Fruit & Veg shop he will wander over to the grape section & say 'Grape' & reach up for some grapes.
When he was younger DH bought the shopping in so a quarter watermelon wrapped in plastic was sitting on the floor. DS then around 1yr crawled up to it & took a chunk out of the top... lol plastic and all (dont worry he didn't eat the plastic) *giggles to self at memory
I've been giving DS 'treats' he likes bananas & grapes & mandarins & oranges. So I guess its safe to say that DS likes eating the Raw Vegan way  ohyeah

But I told some lady he doesn't know what lollies are & she was shocked!!! Huh?? He's only 18mths old...

Ok... Finished bragging bout the cuteness of my son & his preference in foods...
17  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Re: Harley (durianrider) on TV tonight on: Monday 11 June, 2007
I'd say the B12 was low coz they tested via blood not via MMA (urine test) the only true reading for Vegans.
B12 is a bacteria that grows in the intestines so animals will test with B12 (hence the experts stating Meat eaters get their b12 intake by eating meat & animal products)
18  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Re: Harley (durianrider) on TV tonight on: Monday 11 June, 2007
What a surprise to see you on TV Harley. Was disappointed with the testing of your B12 though.
When the 'experts' tested for my sons B12 they tested by blood (it was lower then it should but not clinical according to only ONE Dr 5 others said it was normal for his age) BUT the info the 'expert Dr' gave to us stats the best & only method that should be used for testing B12 in Vegans is MMA testing (Urine test) not Blood test.
Would be nice to see the 'experts' complete a test with facts...
Way to go Harley!!!
19  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Vegan = Protein deficiency on: Monday 04 June, 2007
Got your attention didn't I...
Now.. I dont believe this to be true in anyway.. Im under the knowledge that Vegans do NOT have any issues with being deficient in Protein. Is this correct???
Someone on the SAD diet is trying to tell me that a Vegan diet will cause you to be protein deficient...
20  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / Raw Pregnancy and Kids / Age of feeding babies solids?? on: Monday 04 June, 2007
Well... This is a curious question which I think may have different answers...

The standard society in which we live says to feed babies solids at 4-6mths of age... (But they say alot of things)
I started feeding our DS at around 8-9mths of age with a few spoons here & there at a younger age but not often. Would have liked to have gone longer but it didn't happen for us.
I've certainly heard of people feeding their baby for years without solids so am wondering if there is a set 'age' that Raw Vegans start feeding their baby solids at...
21  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / Raw Pregnancy and Kids / Re: The raw diet and young children on: Friday 01 June, 2007
This is really inspiring & making me want to start feeding my 18mo DS more raw & living foods instead of the junk food I've had to feed him. (He's doing 'well' by the way... Now that he's a Vegetarian & not a Vegan let alone a Raw Vegan he's gaining loads of weight which keeps the 'experts' happy)...

I used to give DS foods whole at 12mths & around that age such as a big chunk of cucumber, a whole corn on the cob, big chunk of watermelon, etc.. He'd eat an entire apple just had to take a bite out of it so he could sink his teeth into it.  He was getting loads of other stuff too but liked the stuff better in his own hands & it sure did get messy.

Green Smoothies sound good for him. Might try get some of them into him/us. Thx for the inspiration...
22  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / Raw Pregnancy and Kids / Re: Feeding on demand? Or by schedule? on: Friday 25 May, 2007
Bella I believe the reason is because you have two types of milk. The fore or front milk is the first part of milk & then you have the 'meat' or 'food' part of the milk which comes in after a few mins (I think its a few mins). So the scheduled advocators say that babies that snack or feed often dont get the 'meat' part of the millk just the fore milk & babies that are 'scheduled' fed recieve both the fore & the 'meat' milk.

Now to bring contraversy in lol I schedule fed my son & he had all he wanted BUT I never let him scream & cry because it wasn't 'time' to feed & I always fed him when I knew he needed (Dont know how you cant tell a baby wants food & not feed them). But for me feeding my son was a routine not a schedule. I think rightly so you'd say I routine fed not schedule fed & not demand fed. Does that make sense?? Yet I still dont understand how people manage to schedule feed their baby & not feed them or comfort them when they so obviously need it because 'someone says so'. Silly really.

So overall I think a balance is good. A balance & reading your baby...

The routine we had though was sleep, feed, play, sleep, feed, play (& on occasion if/when he needed a feed before sleep he'd get it) so that when he woke he had 'energy' to feed & then could play as long as he could handle. Apparantly if you let them play after waking up they can get tireder & not feed as well or aslong as they need. I found that helpful anyway so thought Id share.
23  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Re: Depression & Raw Eating?? on: Thursday 22 February, 2007
Very interesting..
I think my overall interpretation is that a Raw Diet 'can' make a difference..
Also that their are different types & causes of depression therefore different 'treatments' as such are needed to control the depression.
& then their is also the conscious choice to make changes in our lives - so attitude & the way we deal with things.

26  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Depression & Raw Eating?? on: Tuesday 20 February, 2007
Okay so this is another controversial topic so be careful  evil lol

Do you know anybody who was depressed & is now raw vegan & is not depressed anymore?? Or something like that??
Recently I discovered my pal has gone onto anti-depressants & Im a tad upset about it to tell you the truth.
Ive read that depression has been linked to vitamin deficiencies etc..

Does this way of lifestyle REALLY pick up your mood?? ((I know what your going to say!!)) But what about the 'real' depression people.. What do you think???

Thanks in Advance..
Amy

Also can anybody tell me the best way to sprout wheatgrass?? Im wondering if it best to buy a sprouter.. Can anyone suggest a good one & tell me what you think of these expensive utensils??
My sprouting history hasn't gone too well.. They are like little pets needing water a few times a day..

29  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Raw & ADD/ADHD on: Thursday 15 February, 2007
Anyone had any experiences where their child or anybody they know or have heard of being diagnosed with ADD or ADHD???
Im just curious about the food part of this disorder...
I know there is alot of theories relating to this topic & that it can be very controversial..
I know that people can cut certain 'foods' out of their diet BUT they dont find it working.. I wonder if its not 'working' because they are still using certain products deemed 'necessary for human survival' ie animal products...
Anyway... What do you think??
I dont know anyone with ADD or ADHD so I wont be offended.. In fact I probly agree with you  cool
