31  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Re: 80/10/10 Question on: Tuesday 06 February, 2007
Ok.. I have 2 questions... what specifically is the 80/10/10 diet?? I have heard it & read it in various places just want to know what it is. I am guessing that the 80 is for 80% fruit... But the others???

& my other question is 'What is Natural Hygiene'Huh

Amazing how this thread took a minor detour but oh so interesting!!!

WAY TO GO HARLEY!!!! I personally despise TV & in particular shows that tell porky's like whats good for your body blah blah blah...  I wouldn't even say Im well educated in the vegan movement or raw vegan movement or in being pregnant (Ive been pregnant twice) but I know factually that they have told lies & are spreading their lies throughout Australia making it all the more difficult in telling people Im not a Vegetarian Im a Vegan (Ive gone back to vegetarian atm) & YES I get all the nutrients I need to lay persons & then to professionals... So annoying...

So.. I look forward to hearing about some Vegan stuffs on TV & even more RAW VEGAN YEAH!!!

Now.. as for these durians... I still havn't worked out what they are... what is so good about them? What nutrients do they have? & why do they make you feel so good???

I tried using fitday but it said my baby was too young.. Though it would be alright for me & hubby :D

This other site was suggested by another raw member here :D http://www.xyris.com.au & I checked that out. It tells you how much of the RDI you have eaten when you enter it into the journal. They have a 30 day free trial. I've had a quick look & was pleased to discover that one salad & an extra cup of almonds will qualify me for all my RDI :D Calcium, Iron, whatever else we need :D:D Gee I love it when I discover more facts that raw is great!!!

Thanks for the tips :D

You know when you pick up a packaged items & it tells you all the 'good' stuff in it?? Does anybody know where & how I can find that sort of information plus all the vitamins & their measurements for things like raw fresh carrot juice, fresh fruits & veges etc???

I have exhausted myself googling it to find plenty of info but no numbers...
36  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Do you know what you've done??? on: Sunday 28 January, 2007
After being involved in this forum my desire has increased to be raw & even eat fruit. Also (Because of Harley & his bike riding) I desire to buy two bikes & one of those bike trailer/pram things for my baby to ride & for grocery shopping etc... I've even been thinking of selling our carbon dioxide emitting fuel guzzling vehicle to both fund the bikes & trailer & save money. It is not however possible for us to go without a car completely (Holiday vehicle & long tips).

I have also been wanting to eat plenty among plenty of fruit (Fresh Mango Juice) ((RawGreenGodess can be held accountable for that))

So, overall... I want to say Thank you to each & Every one of you. For being a help to me while trying to get my Son back... & increasing the desire to be healthier & go raw...

Jenniem - You have just been awesome to me.. Thanks for the recipes & for checking to see how my little man is going..

Sheryl - for your wealth of knowledge & your willingness to assist me in every way you possibly could. It was because of you that I managed to get assistance in a variety of ways & therefore also able to get my Son back.

Patricia - Your advice, feedback & encouragement

Jocelyn - for your PMs & concerns & encouragement & advice

beckyji - For your assistance & advice.

Overall everybody here has been kind, supportive & inspirational.
Thank you all & May God Bless you all dearly..
xx

Yeah.. Beaucratic.. not..

I was really surprised that when they asked if our boy is Immunised & I said nope not one single person pushed us about it. They wrote it down in their little note pads & left it at that. The Paediatrician said as for as medically it goes he agreed with us. Or something like that.

Not telling any more 'outsiders' about our diet & especiallly that our children are/will be raw :D

Thanks for replying.. :D

I wonder if it would be safe to say (after reading all on this thread) that a Raw diet for your pets is better then cooked but they also need meat??
Fairly interesting though!!!
39  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Re: Help me do raw... on: Saturday 27 January, 2007
WOW loads of great advice!!! Thank you!!

My baby went off my milk because the Dept of Child Safety got a court order to remove him from our tender loving care.. He was then detained in a hospital jail cot for two weeks & fed all sorts of animal processed foods. So yeah... Im a little mad at it but doing the best I can at the moment. He was away for a total of 4 weeks & the contact in the last 2 weeks was 2hrs twice a week (4hrs) so that didn't help things. Also I couldn't express because I was too stressed & was trying so desperately hard to do things to get him back (preparing affidavits, research etc)... So Id say there is nothing left now...

As for the Dr he made a terrible mistake & even gave us vegan info which tells us he didn't do his job correctly. But all they want to do is tell us we are bad parents for choosing a Vegan diet for our baby. Also I think they want us to cave & say we were wrong. The problem with that is we would be lying. They have prescribed

Throughout the whole ordeal it has made my belief in Raw Veganism more powerful then before. I did loads of research during the process & also I think because of the professionals obvious wrongful information of veganism has pushed me away from their information. I dont believe for a second that the SAD diet is any good for us!! I dont believe anybody who tells me that vegetarian or vegan diets for babies is bad.. The chemist guy said "Its just plain stupid to have a vegetarian baby" I thought 'yeah.. but now I think your an idiot'... Poor guy.. Selling drugs & telling me vegetarin diets are not good for kids... Ha...

Anyway.. I've been craving mangoes.. Hubby made me some mango & orange juice the other day & it was DELCIOUS!!! Also he made some grape juice the other day. Not too bad.. & then he made some other YUMMY juice.. So.. Maybe I do like fruit..
You are right though. The cooked foods & the dairy that I have been having a little bit of masks the yummy fruit flavors.

Not sure my baby will REALLY like raw foods/fruits etc until he's no longer having soy milk.. But it is a process & it will take a bit of time. He ate heaps today. We went to sizzler.. I stuck to all the salads & it was just wonderful.. I was actually dreaming about a raw food or a raw vegan/ vegan/ vegetarian all you can eat buffet. Just sounded wonderful to me!!! Hmm.. Loads of manoges :D

Thank you everyone for replying. It sure is great of you!!!  Thanks Sheryl for sharing what hemp seed stuff is..
40  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Re: Help me do raw... on: Saturday 27 January, 2007
Hmmm celery I forgot that one.. Thanks Patricia!! & yes you are right. The hospital was shocking in what they were feeding him. I said no cows milk so they fed him ice cream, custard & yogurt.. Not sure they are that smart because they are all made with cows milk.. But anyway..
According to the Standard baby measurements my Son was underweight a considerablish amount (1-3kg) which was produced according to formula fed babies. My son not being a formula fed baby & further more not a dairy eating/drinking baby should have been measured on the WHO breast fed baby charts. Apparantly the charts have not been released in Queensland yet.
My son has put on heaps of weight & it irks me when the professionals try to tell me that he is looking good & healthy. I think he looks obese & fat. He is also more sluggish in his behaviourism physically.

We buy the Hemp Seed Meal (I think it is meal) from an organic bulk shop in Sandgate, QLD.. Dont know anything else about it apart from it is high in protein & is a nutrient dense food. According to the shop keeper. We've used it in a smoothie & I couldn't tell the difference.. As for hemp seed I have no idea if it is seed or meal... Or if you can get seed in the shop...

WoW.. $200 a week for 2 adults & 3 toddlers.. Uhm how do you get 3 toddlers?? Close births or multiples?? Either way I think thats AWESOME!!!

Then I should surely be able to get by with that much... For 2 adults & 1 baby (14 months).

Might have to buy another fridge.. Or a freezer.. Or both..
42  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Re: Help me do raw... on: Friday 26 January, 2007
Cool Thanks Patricia...
Our Baby is 14 months old & when taken away for being a Vegan Baby he has now refused the breast.. So he's having soy formula instead. He is also now on a 'FULL Vegetarian Diet' which means high in animal products to 'make up for missing nutrients from veges & fruit' in accordance with a meat & dairy dietician.  So certainly not by OUR choice.
Anyway.. Previously he was very raw vegan & was extremely happy to eat anything we gave him. Bananas, avocadoes, mangoes, watermelon, apples, oranges, carrots, corn, cucumber, squash, zuccini, brocoli... He would happily eat steamed veges & baked veges (potato, pumpkin, peas, corn, brocoli & anything else we gave him). He had no processed foods except for wholemeal rye or barely or corn cracker biscuit things, muesli (oats, LSA, coconut, psyllian husks, hemp seed meal, Linseed meal, bran, barley & rye).. Also carrot &/or Vege juice & fruit juice (All freshly made & raw living foods).
I might be missing something there with that..
Now he's having 4 bottles of soy formula, eggs, cooked veges, yogurt, ice cream, processed foods, weetbix with soy formula, & a load of other stuff I cant recall right now...

Anyway... We are trying to get him to eat anything at the moment...

I might go for lots of juices.. Easy for me to eat/drink...
43  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / Raw Pets / Re: anyone out there with raw dogs and cats on: Friday 26 January, 2007
Ooh I just remembered I read an article regarding vegan pets. Scientists tested some animals on the SAD diet & also on a Vegan diet. The SAD diet animals died younger & had more health problems. The Vegan animals lived longer & were healthier & happier animals. Also what I found interesting was the SAD diet animals eventually became infertile.. Though the Vegan animals happily multiplied...

Wonder if I would be able to find the article again...
44  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / Raw Pets / Re: anyone out there with raw dogs and cats on: Friday 26 January, 2007
Dr Harry Cooper himself stated that animals can be vegetarians & that they will eat foods such as carrot & vegetable pulp when you juice.

My Hubby used to have a Raw Vegan dog. She enjoyed vege pulp & left bright orange surprises in the yard...

Wish we had a dog...
45  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Help me do raw... on: Friday 26 January, 2007
I first found out about the raw world when I was pregnant around 2 yrs ago. Newly married to a man who's family was all Vegetarian/Vegan (on occasions they had ice cream, cheese, chocolate). We happily consumed loads of processed foods & meat for awhile but being pregnant for me made it difficult to eat the way we wanted. Though we did have loads of vege juices for ages.. & at times no meat & then no cows milk.. Gee our diet went up & down for awhile there...

Anyway.. My point is I have always struggled eating this way.. Im so not a fruit eater.. or a vege eater.. & I generally don't like nuts or seeds or beans or lentils or legumes...

BUT... I want to be Raw Vegan... & I want my family to be Raw Vegan (Hubby wants to be too) ((Have to wait for our baby to be older though))

Any tips??? At least to get me started...

We have a food processor, blender, Excalibur dehydrator & a Juicer (a living foods juicer) & a stab mixer..

Starting out for this month (Since I have to do loads of shopping) to go rawer.

I think I'll go vege juices & Green Smoothies & maybe Fruit Smoothies.. Wonder if I like Fruit Smoothies.  huh

Anyway.. How do you do it & how do I get my taste buds to like fruits & veges... I think Im dehydrated & maybe that is why Im not going for fresh foods... Oh please help me...
I'm going to go juice some oranges...

Would it help to fast?? What is fasting all about?? Where can I find out??
