That will be the second thing I buy after a dehydrator, because I've been waiting a long time for one, then it's the Sunbeam blender Woo Hoo!!! ... That was funny lou! I had this vision of an elderly (sorry if he's not) man with a befuddled look on his face when he heard the noise your blender was making ... I agree with you Michaela, cleaning my Breville is painful cause of the stuff under the blades, and the grooves on the sides make it really hard to pour and scrape thick soup or GS .... Pinktulip, you made me laugh cause I know exactly what you mean about my name .. If you think writing it is hard you should try to pronounce it ... If I change my name how is everyone that I have so far been writing to know that cheeky is colquhoun? sorry if this is a stupid Question, but I am sometimes .. lol.. with love, the yet to be renamed C

Well! this is an interesting thread.... I've only been eating raw for a week I think!! Yet the miraculous thing that has happened to me is I have lost my craving for sweets, and let me tell you they were really strong, it started affecting my every waking moments, but, it's all gone, and for a diabetic that's fantastic .... Colour of my hair? Now that would trully be a miracle, as I have been colouring my hair for a long time and I could not tell you the exact natural colour of it, brown I think! I lighten my hair, so if it goes dark like other's, I'm going to be mighty angry... That's one miracle I don't want ... Weight loss? I dont have scales, threw them out as I was becoming addicted to weighing myself and that was a really depressing thing, cause weight fluctuates daily. What I go by is if something that has been tight fitting fits, and on Wednesday I wore a pair of jeans that had been fairly snug, and they fitted!!!!! ... If anything happens out of the ordinary, I will definitely post it, rest assured .. with love C

Hi Joanne, Don't know if what they call young coconut is a thai coconut , but that's what I use, and there really yummy!!! If it is, I purchase mine from Woollies or Coles, they are in the cold section in the fruit and veg area.... I hope this helps, although, after reading organic mamma, I think I might have to give them the miss and start buying them from up north lol..... with love C

Thanks missgiggles, I too begin my blending with greens and water, then add fruit... I was having baby spinach with bananas and grapes, and sometimes I would add some bock choi or whatever greens I had, and my blender blended away really well, I was able to drink my GS, although thick in texture, but because it's been a week since I went raw I decided to mix it up a bit lol, so I began to add mint, pasley, corriander, basil, silverbeet etc and that's when my blended decided it did not want to play well anymore, it just couldn't blend the stalks properly, and I cut most of the stalk off, lol..... That's when I thought to myself, Hmmmmm!!!! I need a new blender and a $200 blender sounds better than a $1,200 blender at the moment lol.... What is the wattage on the Sunbeam? (if you know it), and can I buy one at places like Betta, Harvey Norman etc? Thanks for taking the time to answer my Q's missgiggles lol... with love C

I was fairly happy with my breville 700 watt blender until a yesterday, when I decided to add more greens, than usual, to my mix for a GS... Consequently I had to chew my way through 2 1/2 litres of the stuff lol.... If anyone had visited they would have laughed cause I would have reminded them of that add, can't remember for what lol, but there's this woman blending greens and when she smiles at the camera her teeth are covered in green stuff, not a pretty picture lol, that was me yesterday lol..... So now I'm interested in a more poweful blender. One that will be able to break down stalky greens etc, but I definitely can't afford a Vitamix and I read somewhere in one of the old threads someone saying the Sunbeam Cafe Series is really good, I just need to know what their really good is. So if anyone has one or knows someone that has one coud you please let me know, will it juice (so to speak) greens so I dont have to chew, and what else can it do say compared to an ordinary blender, or is the Vitamix the only blender that is good enough!!! with love C

I have just read every joke on this thread Made my day!!! Here's my little contribution... Why do elephant's paint their toenails red? So they can hide in a cherry tree.... Have you ever seen an elephant in a cherry tree? No? Effective aren't they.... How can you tell if an elephant has been in yor fridge? Foot prints in the butter, of course... What is that black stuff between an elephant's toe's? Slow pigmies... Did you know that sardines are irish? Who else would lock themselves in a tin and leave the key outside... How do you drown a blond? Place a mirror at the bottom of a pool... A blond and a brunette were walking down the street, when the brunette noticed an injured bird on the ground, and said 'Oh! look at that poor bird', the blond suddenly looking up into the air said 'where, where'.... How do you confuse a blond? Give her a piece of paper with PTO on both sides.... That's all for now folks..... with love C

Hey! missgiggles, Just went to that site you mentioned, it was very interesting. I was amazed to hear cinnamon can do that. Being european I was raised on foods that contained cinnamon... I wil definetely re-introduce it into my diet, I love cinnamon anyway so it should not be a problem lol... Hey! Pinktulip, I will try your suggestion on dividing my foods rather than eating sugar and fats at one sitting.... If the avocado dip works better on my BSL, I think I will stick to that for the time being.. with love C

Thanks Pinktulip, You are excactly what I need, someone to yell at me lol.. Okay! last night I ate, a small handful of nuts, some dried fruit - cranberries, 1 banana, cabbage. BSL = 8.9 (I think two hrs later, can't be sure now, see you should have yelled at me yesterday lol) This morning before breakky, BSL = 8.1 breakky GS, 1 apple, 1 orange, 1 pear, 2 1/2 bananas, mint, basil, silverbeet, bok choy, celery and water, really yumm!! which I'm still drinking and when I finish I will wait the two hrs before taking my BSL.... Once again you are right lol, I do need to give raw a chance to work, and I am sure that in time my BSL will be down forever... I'm currently eating an Avocado a day,and according to my BSL yesterday, after my lunch of avocado, it was lower than when I ate fruit and nuts... I don't mind writing everything down in here, because someone else might read it and be going through the same problems, and this way by the time I workout what is working for me and what is not, it could be extra beneficial for that someone else, and all of this with your help, cause I really cannot do it on my own, never could, it's just nice to have that support, and someone to actually know what they are talking about when it comes to foods etc. Pinktulip, you have been more helpful than any doctor has since I got diagnosed lol.. Your an lol with love C

Hey pinktulip, Wow! Okay I definetely know what you are trying to tell me lol... For the last two days I have been eating. For breakky, GS. For lunch and dinner, an avo blended with tomatoes, garlic, onion, parsley, coriander, chilli and lemon and spread on lettuce leaf or silverbeet or cabbage. Snacks in between, sometime nothing, other times handful of dates and/or nuts and apple. The days before that, I was consuming lots of bananas and dates and nuts, and in the mornings my BSL was high so I changed to the diet on top, and my BSL now has slowly been reducing, since the change. It was a little less this morn it was 8.1 yesterday it was 8.4 and the day before it was 8.7 phew!! lol... After chatting earlier I took your advise, see I'm a good student , and took my BSL 1 1/2 hours later after a meal (late lunch again) and it was 7, I nearly fell over with happiness ... I have tried those things raw (potatoes, corn, bananas, grapes etc) just had not taken my BSL afterwards to find out what it does to me. Doctors!!! When I first diagnosed with Diabetes 4 years ago my doctor of then, told me to control it with diet, but could not tell me what to eat or not to eat and said eat weight watchers food, so I did, did not work. However,I did manage, at the time, to keep my BSL down by eating, two slices of toast in the morn and a cup of soup and sandwich size tin of salmon for lunch and salad for dinner, every friggin day, got to be really boring and I could only put up with it for 9 mths... Then I went on to just normal food and (my fault) couldn't be bothered going to see a doctor about it (I have reasons to long and drawn out to tell) anyway, finally went to see another doc and he put me on this medication but he too could not tell me what not to eat or eat, just said excersise that will help.. So here I am today, trying raw 100% this time round not just 40%, I figured if they can't help me I wil help myself and show them what's what lol One thing I realised only today is that I have not been craving sweets for the last few days, now that is really something cause when eating cooked food I could not stop from wanting, craving anything sweet, sometimes I would eat a tsp of honey just to get rid of my craving. It was bad sweet things began preoccupying my thoughts, choclate, cake, cheesecake etc ets... I'm writing this and it doesn'taffect me one little bit thinking about them, now that's progress lol... see ya with love

Hi Pinktulip, Yeah! I know that I have to excersise, must find some form of motivation to do so. I think it's like smoking, you know it will kill you one day, but because it's not instant you tend to put it off. You asked about writing what I eat down, did you mean privately, or did you want me to write it in here? I only take my sugar in the mornings and it sit's around 7.5 to 8.5 and that's before breakky. I'm to scared to take it 2 hours after food, cause I figure if it's high after fasting all night what is it going to be after food!! So I think well if I can get it down in the morn, then it should be okay for the rest of the day, and what I eat the day before usually shows up the next, besides those needles hurt . What sends my BSL high is carbs and sugar. When I eat cooked foods what really sends my sugar sky high is rice, pasta, potatoes, sweet potatoes, pumpkin, bread, beetroot, carrots, corn, any starchy or high carb food. In fruits, watermelon, grapes, mango, banana, apricots, any sugary fruits. I don't know about you but me, I find eating a mono type of food like apples, oranges, pears boring and unappetising. I really like variety unfortunately we are limited in bundy, unless I'm shopping in the wrong places, that's a possibility lol... Actually we don't even have organic, apart from the limited few things at woolies and coles, like pumpkin, corn, sometimes zuccini, apples and carrots.... I will try to be more motivated!! with love
