I think Rawgasm wants you to watch the video... it's a link... maybe not on your page?
Here's the link...

Hi Beauhemian,
If you are out and about and having to eat to be social... I remember I used to tell people that I was cleansing or on an elimination diet for allergies, or not feeling too well... in case they pressed me to eat things other than I wanted to. Believe me, you will find you can  come up with  a myriad of excuses!!
But really, when people question your diet/lifestyle.. it's none of their business and finding the strength to live your convictions will serve you best of all.
Did you ever see a DVD called The Secret?.. it tells about attracting what we are feeling and thinking.
If you perceive anything to be difficult, it will be.

If you approach your diet/lifestyle with joy, good feeling and positive energy.. your journey will be lighter by far!

There are no rules for raw.
Repeat.. There are no rules.. only the ones you make for yourself.

Eat as much as you want whenever you want and if that means a bit of chocolate or cheese now  and again to help you, so be it..... I'm sure your diet is 100 time healthier  than most people.
Remember there are no food police watching, only your inner ones, hehe!

I'm also (or was) a home birthing ,homeschooling , non vaccinating, home birth helper and mother of 3..(.they're all grown up now). It was harder 25 years ago... this sort of stuff is mainstream now and much more accepted so I don't think you will have too much to worry about... I do hope you enjoy your raw journey.

Today I'm going to a raw afternoon tea party with a group of (older) women who are local to me. We get together once a month to share some quality time and a plate of raw deliciousness...who would have thought that this was possible in the suburbs??  Maybe you could connect with  raw others in your local  community and then it won't seem  like you're having to fit in with other's opinions and expectations..

good luck on your new journey,

Dani x

Hey Greg,
Monkeys don't wear socks., hehe!

What a pity that you took it upon yourself to feel pressured here on the forum.

There are so many different points of view here, some 100%, some 50% raw,... we are all different and sharing our experiences and questions.

I have never felt pressured  by anyone or any of the  writings here ...to do anything but what I wanted!!
I am my own keeper!

Some people  on the forum live very differently to me and  more often than not, I learn a few things along the way, start looking at certain issues in a new light or go on to further research of my own, being inspired by the posts here. Debate is good too.. it brings out the devil in the detail... and there are plenty of posts that I just don't read..or topics that don't interest me.

It really is up to the individual...but pressured?? ..never!

The B12 and veganism issue  has been around for at least the last 25 years that I know of... and raw vegans survive somehow...despite being told they can't .

Who knows whatever other factors out there affect our uptake of this vitamin, whether it transmogrifies from other substances or works in tandem with other nutrients.. we don't know the full story ...we haven't evolved enough (sic) to know these things... the way we in the western world do science can be random at times!

You are entitled to be as raw as you want. Good luck in your journey...and to all the other people on this raw journey, in whatever way they choose to do it.

Sorry you didn't like it, Rudolf.
I personally found it very interesting,  especially about surface tension and alkalinity , the yin and yang..  we obviously have different tastes in what we like to read.

Here is some info for xylitol. It's very popular in China and many people buy toothpaste and chewing gum with xylitol as it reduces the chance of cavities... supposedly.

Dried fruit and bananas may be very difficult to use as a sweetener for most diabetics, ..too much of a sugar hit.
Forgive me, but I'm just imagining a herbal tea with a banana stuck in it.. hehe!!

Hi Jen,
All my babies were well over two weeks over their due date.

Damn the Perth heat, though. I feel for you, 40 degrees is not nice for anyone.
Sending you lots of warm wishes, ...I have a few baby things for you.

Hi Jen,
Have you thought about intermittent fasting?

One day on, one day off.. from food. It's not difficult and there's no deprivation...well, not until the next day! You end up eating half of your usual intake, and you can basically eat what you like on the eating days.
Apparently its the episodic gap that's important, not the amount of calories consumed... but wisdom to select wisely prevails.
There are some excellent web articles out there, I'll pm you a few links if you like.
I've been doing a whole heap of experimenting with dry and water fasting  and reduced calorie intake for longevity and mental clarity over the last few months, and have been feeling very energised, clear headed and generally bouncy as well as losing  weight.

Hope this helps.

Just bumping up this thread.
Here's a very interesting article on water , the alkalinity or acidity of it, and what is considered the best drinking water.
It's lengthy and has some basic chemistry (which is easy to understand), and overall a very worthwhile read.

Xylitol is suitable for diabetics.
It's generally made from corn cobs or birch tree bark..and is metabolised differently to sugar..also is as sweet as sugar without any nasty aftertaste, ...dissolves in water.  Available in most health food shops. It's refined, and looks like white sugar.

27  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Re: Divine Nutrition on: Wednesday 27 February, 2008
This is very interesting . I especially resonated with this part:

Man may go about his own daily affairs, but when he feels hungry he can go over to the table and pick up an item he likes and eat it.
It is possible some of the food may be eaten up completely, while the rest may be left untouched.
This means that your personal wise physician and nutritionist — your body — selected for you what you needed at that moment, while what you did not need was left untouched.

I also liked the idea of having a selection of local vegetables, sniffing and licking them before eating!

Hello Cee,
Let the video load first before listening to it... just click on the pause button and it will load... you will see a red line as it  loads. When its finished loading, click the play /arrow/on button... you'll be able to listen without interruption.
29  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / Recipes - Meals & Snacks / School lunch boxes on: Sunday 17 February, 2008
A friend of mine wanted to know what to put into school lunch boxes for raw or raw transitioning children. I came across this website that has a load of pictures with school lunches. If you put your cursor on the picture it tells you what the lunch  consists of... hopefully will help busy mums looking for lunchbox inspiration. It's mostly raw, but not all.... but still very useful, I feel.
