1  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Re: Visible / external physical transformations (for the better) on raw... on: Saturday 08 September, 2007
on Dr Mercola's U.S. website (he's into health to some degree) - he said he'd brought up the subject about nail fungal infections and had been inundated by people emailing him saying vix vaporub cures the fungal infection.  Maybe it has to be rubbed on the nail each day.  worth a try.... it's not dangerously unnatural is it?Huh??
2  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Fitness & Health / Re: Another Epic Adventure...by Raw Aussie Athlete on: Saturday 08 September, 2007
wow.... great results RAA.
I'm no athlete, my exercise is running a household and looking after children.  But the other day I had to run across a sporting field (don't laugh  rofl  ) to retrieve a child... it was sooo easy compared to the old days... that I kept running and running there and back ... it was great ...didn't get puffed..felt so light on my feet....felt so good.... definitely my cardiovascular is in great condition...
if only I had time to work out " under the light of a large moon"  ...sigh  ..... yeah but I wouldn't give up my children for the world.   yahh

3  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Visible / external physical transformations (for the better) on raw... on: Friday 07 September, 2007
I've seen (and experienced) people's great internal   transformations - getting off prescription drugs, videos of people being cured of diabetes... and have seen/ experienced great energy / clarity, etc. on raw.

BUT.... I read in the past about raw people experiencing 'visible' miracles... such as having their hair change from grey back to their brown colour, people's warts and skin cancers falling off (mine didn't   cool  ), people passing huge tumours (out their rear end **), people growing new teeth, etc....

hey... have any of you guys experienced huge VISIBLE transformations for the better (apart from losing masses of weight).... not talking muscle tone here.

thanks May   laugh

some people are hard to 'shape' though especially if they're made of cement.... and in my case (after 1 short violent marriage and 2nd one - not violent - but still unloved...) it's taken a nervous breakdown, 2 stints in hospital with depression, years of antidepressants, then intense weekly counselling for 15/16 months before reaching a stage where I realise I'm 'okay' - and I can be happy regardless of how other people treat me.
I've a similar childhood story (but more traumatic) and family so relate to your experience as a child May.

Thank goodness for good friends though - a listening ear and kind words are balm to the soul.

Hey... and May... I remember your husband is a comedian as well as a fantastic 'love-r' (in a true sense of the word).  It's great for your children to have the example of a good man - how else can they learn how to treat and 'love' a woman/others.

There's always someone worse off or better off....that's what I always think to myself.

Those that come from a loving family ...
or those that have a partner that really loves them...
are so fortunate.
Yes it's great to forgive and forget (even if you have to distance yourself from those that've hurt you).... and it's great to be able to give, give, give love without expecting return.... but it'd be so wonderful to be truly loved.  Of course  children give so much fulfilment and love... but to be really loved by another person/adult just for who you are.... would be so wonderful.  Sigh.

If you have a loving partner or loving family - count your blessings  (you lucky duck).

My 2 and 3 year old girls sip my green smoothies.... but my 4 year old wont touch them.
My children will eat most fruits - but will spit out carrot (even grated), tomato or any other salad vegie.  (obviously didn't start them early enough on raw salad vegies).
8  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Re: what happend to ross horne? on: Wednesday 05 September, 2007
After " Health Revolution" he wrote "Improving on Pritikin" in which he had admitted the Pritikin diet had its faults... he then advocated a raw fruit diet as the ideal ....then  "Health and Survival in the 21st century" reinforced this.

He definitely recommended a raw diet - preferably fruit only - when he spoke to me....after writing the later books.  No doubt since writing Health Revolution he'd found that there was still room for improvement.
9  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Re: what happend to ross horne? on: Tuesday 04 September, 2007
After reading his book, "Survival and Health in the 21st Century", I rang him a couple of times to ask him things.  He didn't let on that he didn't practise what he preached.... in fact the last time I spoke to him he was saying how nearly all his male friends/peers had developed prostate cancer and he hadn't.  He was writing another book (his last) about surviving without cancer.
why on earth wouldn't he have gone raw cold turkey once developing raw?  He sounded such a knowledgeable author about raw - he convinced everybody .... except himself.

10  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Are "gourmet raw" eaters as healthy as ..... on: Monday 03 September, 2007
Just wondering if people who eat "gourmet" raw each day are just as healthy as those eating just fresh fruits, salads, vegies.  Obviously it's better than eating a western diet - but are gourmet raw diets as full of antioxidants and vitamins that those eating them are as full of health and energy as "fresh" raw?   huh
The gourmet raw recipes look fantastic - but time-consuming and not as fresh as cutting open a melon.
Any reknowned "gourmet" raw people with amazing health?

thanks in advance.

11  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Re: Loosing too much weight!!! help.... on: Wednesday 22 August, 2007
this is an interesting thread.

I always had problems with finding a rich enough moisturiser until I started using almond oil.  Now I have no problems with dry skin.  I often cleanse with it too.

Thanks very much for your advice Brett.   laugh  I'll pass it onto my mother.

Has anyone else anything to add?   cool
13  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Advice please - regarding my 'elderly' raw mother's blood test results... on: Saturday 18 August, 2007
Hi everybody.
My mother who's 83 went raw about 4 to 5 months ago.  She has extracted juices, green smoothies, salads, sprouts, some nuts, etc.

She hadn't had good health for some time (having recovered from bowel cancer a couple of years ago) and she normally has an abnormally high platelet count and is on strong medication for this.

After a month on raw she felt so good she took herself off cholesterol drugs and some minor drugs but kept on the hydrea for the high platelets.

She's generally feeling much better but not as good as she was during the first couple of months on raw.

She has just had a blood test and the doctor isn't happy about her results.
Her haeomoglobin is down from normal to 103.
Her B12 is low (I realise this is common in raw vegans).
She has developed macrocytosis
She has developed paraprotein anaemia.

The doctor has advised her to start eating meat (!!) and go onto iron supplements, B12 supplements and undergo further blood tests.

Obviously if she'd been on raw for years things'd be much better...

I've been trying to understand the macrocytosis and paraprotein anaemia on the internet.
Is there someone who understands these conditions and how raw can impact on these results?
I told my mother that I'd ask on this forum about these conditions.

Thank you for your help.
14  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / Off Topic Chat / Re: Xylitol sweetener - internet says it remineralizes teeth and... on: Saturday 30 June, 2007
yikes!!!

I got that info from the bodyecology site.... you know that lady that looks so young and is into fermented food (yuck).  not very well-researched site if it gives out such misinformation.

I'd  love to be able to have huge amounts of sleep and massive amounts of fruit in season and to swim in natural springs...etc.... sigh.
....but even a life of hard work and night's of disturbed sleep due to young children - has its rewards.
15  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / Off Topic Chat / Xylitol sweetener - internet says it remineralizes teeth and... on: Thursday 28 June, 2007
I was reading on the internet:

Xylitol

Also healthy and natural, xylitol sweetener is extracted from birch cellulose. Xylitol does not feed candida and has these benefits:

    * It has been clinically proven to fight dental cavities, and to facilitate the remineralization of dental enamel.
    * It tastes similar to sugar, with 40% fewer calories.
    * It helps stabilize blood sugar.

It REALLY??? remineralizes dental enamel?Huh
Does anyone use this sweetener? any pros/cons you know about? is it raw?  if so, where do you get it?
