PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / Off Topic Chat / Please do help

Dear rawfoodists Our destiny is in our hands, but our government is not quite willing to help right now. So it has to start from grassroots and spread the word. Unfortunately many people believe in our government and the media, who say meat eating is good for your health. Now we have global warming and many cyclones and giant storms are already strucking us, our properties, and we have tried our best to inform people that a plant based diet is good for you, good for our earth and save resources. But how many people listen. That poor God can't do anything if we humans don't want to save ourselves......We need a lot more conscientious people to help spread the word about veganism and global warming. A less carbon intensive diet is the only way now to save our planet and ourselves. Other methods take too long, and our Aractic ice can't wait. FAQ - Check Here for the most common Answers! / Raw Food FAQ / How to raise cholestrol
|
on: Wednesday 05 November, 2008
|
|
Hallo everyone
Does anyone know what to take to raise cholestrol? I guess there must be something in the plant kingdom to help with this. Even though doctors told my father to take more eggs, I still believe eggs are not the way to go if they ever know how the chickens are raised and treated in farms.
It is quite challenging for me now as many people would concern about lowering their cholestrol, while I want the opposite? I welcome all feedback.

PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / Off Topic Chat / Love Earth gatherings
|
on: Wednesday 17 September, 2008

Dear All, The Love Earth gatherings are our opportunity to get together and encourage the world to adopt a vegetarian/vegan lifestyle so we can drastically reduce greenhouse gas emissions and save our planet. If all people in Australia could adopt a vegetarian/vegan diet we could reduce greenhouse gas emissions by almost one third. * 31% of total greenhouse gases in Australia are caused by animal industries – from A Balancing Act (2005), a report by CSIRO and The University of Sydney. It is a simple inexpensive solution that everyone can do right now and it will buy us more time to wean our civilization off fossil fuels. As part of National Vegetarian Week, Love Earth Gatherings will be held in the major Australian cities on: Saturday October 4 at 11am. In Brisbane we will gather at : Reddacliff Place, top end of Queens Street Mall and at midday (12pm) we will be observing one-minute of silence for all the sentient beings harmed in the world due to our actions. Guest speakers will be Andrew Bartlett, Marayke Jonkers and Leigh-Chantelle will be singing for us. We want to bring the vegetarian/vegan diet into the forefront of climate change political agendas worldwide and let our politicians know that it is a viable solution to end climate change. Because it is the quickest most effective way to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions. So come along and show your support. Wear colourful clothing, bring your colourful pro veg banners and signs and let's get as many people there as possible! All veg friendly groups/individuals are invited to participate. Spread the word! For venue details and the activities being held in each city please visit: www.loveearthgathering.comLF

Basically the root cause of global warming is lack of love and the only solution is Love, nothing else. We need to start respecting all lives, treat them as equal. Then and only then can we stop creating bad karma. As long as there is killing, will any good come out of this cause?

Hi everyone It is interesting to start an exciting topic and it suprised me as well. I agree with FreeleaRaw that it is not about pointing fingers, but asking individuals to be responsible for their health. The advertising media can say what they like, and as consumers it is best to equipped ourselves with discretionary power to discern the applicability of information. In the end , we are responsible for our lives and no one else. Sometimes, it is addictive to blame someone for my pain, but after doing it, I did not get anywhere. So, now I am showing another link about methane being 25 times more potent than CO2: http://www.theaustralian.news.com/au/story/0,25197,23757869-12377,00.htmlActually some people akin methane to an atomic bomb for our earth. Another interesting point--go veg can reduce 80% of greenhouse gas emissions, because the total greenhouse gases from agriculture is more than all the planes, trucks and vehicles combined on earth. More info at-- http://www.askmorenow.com.au/be-green-go-veg.htmlGiven that our time is only two years to roll things back, which is extremely urgent, and our government is not including Emissions Trading Scheme for agriculture yet into the 2008 Federal Budget, the fastest, easiest and most efficient way to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in order to save our planet is to go veg. No other alternatives which will take too many years to implement. We have no time to wait. Hopefully these pieces of information will get to more people, becasue at these times of our earth, we really need to unify and work together to create a new better world. BTW, if mass media can help with the go veg message, we may have more hope: http://suprememastertv.com/bbs/board.php?bo_table=featured&wr_id=115&url=link_0

Oh, thank you so much, Saltwater and FreeleaRaw and all others posts. I feel more positive now. I really need the encouragement. Sometimes I feel people are not responding to any cruelty free news or videos. Even with data from UN about meat meating and global warming ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VRyfVhawjvU) people are still not moved... It could be frustrating at times when people turn away and not even care about their own health. Now, we are talking about the survival of our planet. If most people continue their habits like now, not wanting to change because of taste or inconvenience, then we will have even more severe climate change until such time when earthly people wake up before time runs out. In fact, scientists said we have only max two years time to roll things back before climate change becomes irreversible. Livestock industry is the # one culprit in creating the deadly methane gas which is 25 times more potent than CO2 emissions. Our government has not yet taken into account the agricultural sector into the 2008 Federal Budget in drafting the Emissions Trading Scheme, which is vey disappointing. So, before waiting for the government to do something for us, we individuals can do something for ourselves before it is too late. Therefore it is urgent and our government must listen.

Thanks for all comments. I am thrilled actually, and I am shocked to hear that animals are "stupid" !!! They are even more loving and gentle than some human beings. I am now reading a book called "Noble Wilds", anyway people can find this book on www.amazon.com. The book is not for sale in Australia yet. It is soooooo loving. It has got numerous beautiful pictures about wild lives. I like one series of them very much. They are two parent white swans rearing five little new born swans. Very loving and cute. Not less love than we humans offer to our kids. My heart melts when I read the story and see the beautiful pictures. I feel so peaceful, and I would not take in any words offered by some ignorant individuals about our animal friends. Sometimes I wonder by how much is it enough to tell people to change their diet, to be more loving because not only do they need love, our animals need love, our environment needs love, our planet needs love... It is frustrating at times when there is a long way in front of me. See, if more people can be vegan, then our world's atmosphere will change. Our world will be more peaceful, and more talented people can be breeded, more new energy technologies developed, new system of medical care and so on.
