John I don't believe that at all. You are very welcome here.

Steve I make almond milk by soaking and blending almonds and straining though a nut milk bag, which is just a fine mesh bag to strain the liquid. I did see a video of a girl making almond milk and she didn't strain it at all. I am going to try it that way next time I make it. Add a couple of pitted dates or honey to sweeten the milk. You can make it at any time and even use other nuts too.

I managed with just a fruit plate on a 3 hour trip back from Tasmania.

Its only a 2 hour inflight trip to Adelaide. Take some fruit and other food to eat enroute.

Steve you will not die on this diet. However you will lose weight fast and your friends and family will tell you that you will die unless you eat normal food. However you will bottom out and start gaining weight again I promise. You are not silly at all.

There are a lot of people living well after years of raw eating. Look at how the wild animals eat raw foods and they remain in peak condition all their lives. Have faith and go with your instints. They never fail you.

Steve there is a whole world of variety just waiting for you. Having a green smoothie is like drinking a fresh vitamin pill. You can eat gourmet recipes and plenty of vegetables. Or you can eat a high fruit diet. Better still is a combination of both of these. Just be guided by what your body is asking for. There are a lot of recipes here.

There is also raw chocolate powder available from this site, which can be added to drinks, recipes and you can make a fair old chocolate too. Don't forget yummy coconuts, durians, bananas and much much more.

There are plenty of videos on You Tube to help you get started. Ami Phyo and Jingee are too names to look out for.

Welcome to the wonderful world of raw.

Yep the new theory is that we should eat the best food available as then the body can extract what it needs at any given point. Why are we still quoting Howell after 50 odd years beats me.... .. I prefer to believe in the bodies innate intelligence and leave it at that.

Just ask your friend why the government is trying to get people to eat more fruit and vegetables. I never argue with professionals. I just tell them to look at my skin and compare it with other 65 year olds they know.

I just love growing them. I pop them in the fridge and if they go off I feed them to the worms. They have to eat too!

For people like Jennie the kids could help grow them. I remember sprouting stuff on cotton wool when I was a kid.

Gosia I think that we do need a heavier diet in winter, especially in the Southern States. I went from Hobart to Qld in August and it was like a Tassie summer there with a wonderful array of fruits, fresh avos and nuts. Down south I feel the cold and I would to be able to dehydrate stuff.

How about making some muesli for early morning starts and something for their lunchboxes? Sounds good to me.

Thanks Annette this is a raw food forum after all and in my opinion most posts should reflect that.

Rosal when I was a kid, if the movie was boring, the boys used to roll Jaffas down the uncarpeted sloping floor in the stalls. Only the lounge area was carpeted in those days.

Jaffas were a darkish chocolate ball, dipped in an orange flavoured crisp candy shell. Imagine marble shaped m&ms, only orange flavoured. I Really liked the whole orange blended (minus the rind) as it has an intense orange flavour and contains the pith and fibre of the fruit.

If you are truly not hungry then I would not advise you to eat anything at all. After all most of us could last quite a long time without eating much. Your system is not used to getting food that is packed with nutrients and it is satisfying you at the moment.

I actually don't feel good if I skip too many meals.

Chelle you have such a wonderful talent for drawing. If you ever do any postcard size one I would love to buy them from you.

I am glad you're back posting on the board and yes everything seems much calmer now.

You are such an inspiration to me, turning your life around must have been so difficult. Thank you for your friendship when I needed it most.

Hugs, Joss

Now summer is past I am back to sprouting. I am going to teach my daughter how to sprout as she breeds show budgies and they love sprouted seeds. One thing I did not know about budgies is that they can survive for up to 8 days without water, but die within hours without seed. They just gotta keep the old crop full.
