I am keen to join in too... My blender is broken at the moment though - I have ordered the new part and am expecting it any day so I will jump on board as soon as it arrives.
Great idea, thanks PB!

19  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / Raw Pregnancy and Kids / Re: Feeding on demand? Or by schedule? on: Friday 11 May, 2007
Have just discovered this post and finding it all fascinating... I am surrounded by scheduled feeders and it is only through the 'raw world' that I have even heard much on demand feeding. So this thread is a good balance for me as all I ever hear are the arguments for why you should schedule feed.
Why do so many people still scheudle feed then (at least that I know!) Is it just midwife/mother advice? Is it easier? Is it just society?
Hope you don't mind all my questions, I just find this all really interesting. As a woman of child rearing age  cheesy I guess I am just starting to question what's going on around me...
Ok, enough rambling!

Hi fruitypie

I have been to Cambodia a couple of times and probably the best insurance is a very good mozzie net (one with small holes - their mozzies are smaller than ours) and some citronella oil.

Plus bottled water, which you can buy everywhere.

Will you be in Phnom Penh or out in the provinces?

You will love Cambodia - I have so much respect for the resilience of the Khmer people who have such a tragic history.

Plus there's logans and jackfruit and lychees and rumbutans and.......

Thanks Sheryl..

Bit of a set back today, hubby has said that he's going to have to go back to half raw/half cooked as he's dropping too many kgs.
He's a really lean guy as it is and has a very physical job and exercises a lot on top of that. He's not keen to drop too much more weight (think he's already lost 4kgs)

I know he just needs to consume stacks more fruit & greens but he's sort of used to only eating 2-3 times a day as he's quite busy and he needs to eat far more than that if he's going raw.
I am off work for a week and a bit as of Friday so I might focus on making him stacks of bulk foods (noticed a suggestion for blended raw foods on another thread) while I've got the time and see if that makes a difference.

Had a bit of a yukky eating/emotion day today but tomorrow is a fresh raw day!!!

I wish I had thought of this earlier... it is really motivating me. It is keeping me accountable as well...
I am trying to keep the menu really varied at the moment.. so running out of ideas today! Will have to browse through RP's raw food recipes to get a bit inspired again.

Made raw soup for the first time last week - cucumber and avocado... yum!

Have a great day everyone....

Hi RGG

I am a bit of a teeth clencher too - I find it really helpful to put a heat pack on my jaw before I sleep to relax the muscles and hopefully set them in relaxed mode for the rest of the night.

My mum is super fit but is yet to find a way of eating that really works for her.
Have been talking to her about raw (even thought I haven't been 100% of late) and told her that if she gave it a go, I would 'cook' her gourmet raw dinner every night that she could pick up on her way home from work, she just has to look after her breakfast and lunch.

I just gave her some rough guidelines (stacks of water, fruit and greens during the day) and told her about green smoothies - which she's been having daily.

So then hubby jumps on board and says - I'll have what you're having.

Then my sister-in-law wants in on the raw dinner action too as she is breastfeeding and has really low energy.

Then my boss asks - how can I get in on this?

So, it has given me a great inspiration to make yummy raw gourmet dinners every night for everyone (me included) and to eat as raw as possible for the rest of the day as I don't want them all taking off on raw and leaving me behind!  cheesy

Mon night it was zucchini pasta with tomato sauce and fudge balls for dessert, tue night was raw nori rolls and banana 'ice-cream' for dessert, last night was raw pizza and cucumber soup, tonight is a raw antipasto plate (dips, vegie stix and flax seed crackers) and almond/date/orange cookies.

Normally I wouldn't have dessert every night but it has been fun to show them all (and myself I guess) how indulgent raw can be.

I've been trying to keep it pretty simple for the rest of the day with fruit and salad.
I also started hitting the gym this week and just signed up for 10 sessions of yoga - so I just know the momentun will keep building. 100% raw in no time, with family and friends on board. I took a before shot a few months ago and can't wait to see my body change and feel even more increase in energy.

Afteral, I better start walking wht I'm talking now that my take-away raw gourmet dinner service has started!  cheesy
27  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Re: fresh Durian in my woolies!!! on: Wednesday 28 March, 2007
I live in Wollongong, south of Sydney and can get frozen, defrosted durian at my local woolies. Chatting to local thai people is normally a good source of info.
Ihave only ever tried fresh durian in thailand but am needing a 'hit' and so am thinking I'll try the Wolies stuff.

29  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Re: Disturbing side effect of being non conventional on: Monday 19 March, 2007
I went to some personal development training a little while ago and the speaker said something interesting that got me thinking...
He said that when we're secure in our beliefs we can share them with others ina  way that is not aggressive or pushy but still very passionate. When people still aren't sure what they believe, they often preach the loudest, oftem beacuse they're still not sure what they believe themselves and are desperate to have others believe the same to validate their own choices.
He said it in a much more succint way than that!  smiley

It really got me thinking... I want to love more and judge less. Some of the most amazing people I know who live lifestyles I admire have so much compassion for where others are at and such lack of judgment that it draws people towards them more.

I like this thread............. I don't have any answers but its great to think about these things...

On a tagent... I thought I didn't like figs, but after just having some for breakfast I have decided I LOVE them.. Yay!
30  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Re: A bad durian... on: Thursday 08 March, 2007
I'm like a spoilt durian brat! I have only ever had the fresh stuff and now I'm too scared to touch the durian in my local woolies as I think I've had it too good and can't go back!!!
But I am missing it too much and am thinking I am going to have to give it a go.........
