1  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Re: Raw Food Recipe books by Australian Authors? on: Tuesday 07 October, 2008
Oh good luck with that!

Take your time and do it well I say, no sense in rushing creations. But please let us all know when you do have it complete!

Why thankyou FreeLea, I would love to receive your ebook! I will PM you.

I do hope you get it printed, we need more local talent getting their creations into bookstores across Australia. I know we have so much of it here.

Thanks you RGG, much appreciated!

I'm looking for recipe books mainly to help promote raw to mainstream people who are into recipe books for instructions, pics and ideas.

It seems that many won't even give it a go until they have one or two books that set it all out rather than them having to search on the net.

Personally I love collecting recipes from the net and experimenting on my own in the kitchen, lots more fun! Smiley

p.s. that was such a quick reply!
4  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Raw Food Recipe books by Australian Authors? on: Tuesday 07 October, 2008

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if you all could help me out. I'm seeking raw food recipe books by Australian authors.

I'm not sure if there are too many out there, I know of *'s * but that's about it. And didn't  Sheryl do one too?

Any help in finding Australian raw books would be greatly appreciated, and if you've read any of them, let me know what you think of them.

I'd really love to see more local authors come out with books detailing their wonderful creations!  yahh
5  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Raw Retreats and places to stay - Cairns on: Thursday 17 July, 2008
Hi there people,

my partner and I will be heading up to Cairns after Christmas for several weeks. We are looking to check out some raw friendly retreats or accomodation and I figured this forum would be the perfect place to ask about this.

Even if it's not necessarily raw friendly, just self contained so we can prepare our own food.

EDIT: I forgot to ask about veg or veg friendly places, especially if there are shared kitchens.

Also, I'd love to hear from people where to get the best fruits and veg there, where raw friendly healthfoods stores if any are and whether there'll be any raw events happening in January.

Any help is greatly appreciated! Smiley

Hehe,

I must admit I'm not a green thumb. I haven't really grown plants from seed before, but if I'm going to be trapped in an office, I'd rather be growing something and seeing life than sterile work units.

My son's school already has this in place here in Australia!

They have 'Fresh Fruit Tuesday' every week, its a free program, I actually thought it was available as a government initiative, perhaps it's the Victorian government.

The kids love it!

The school also has a great policy where the kids can eat from their lunchbox at any time of the day, as long as it's fresh fruit and vegetables.

I'd love to see this sort of thing in all schools. Smiley

Wow, this sounds like a great idea!

I'd be really interested in growing fruit trees from seed. I don't have a lot of time to tend to other types of food plants, and fruit trees tend to need a lot less care when grown.

I figured you guys would get it. Smiley

I'll be waiting for that listing!

10  Locally RAW / Australia & New Zealand / Re: Melbourne raw food restaurants?? on: Wednesday 16 July, 2008
WHHAAATTT?Huh??

Please someone tell me this is true, even if it's just one, even if it's juts SOME raw dishes at a restaurant!

Anyone know ANYTHING?

I live in Melbourne and I've got my ears and eyes out for ANY raw meals served anywhere and I haven't heard anything at all about raw restaurants opening.

Excellent idea rawconnection!

I too am thinking it'd be great to have something like that locally as well as the oxfam one.

Wouldn't it be great to gift some lovely heirloom fruit trees and maybe plant them where people (especially those on a low income) frequent wherever we live?

Have you ever heard of geurilla planting? People go and plant local native plants in public areas without council permission, helping to keep endemic native species alive in the area.

Currently I'm growing some calistemon seedlings on my desk at work. I'd be happy to swap these for some heirloom fruit seedlings from seed when they've grown.

I was thinking of something along the lines of continually growing seedlings on my desk (it makes me happy to see something living there) and placing them outside my house on the nature strip with 'free to good home' on them. Wouldn't cost me much at all... Smiley.

12  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Raw documentary finally completed! on: Tuesday 15 July, 2008

Hi everyone,

I had a quick check and couldn't find any posts about it, but the guys at Raw for Life have completed their much anticipated documentary, now called Simply Raw - Reversing Diabetes in 30 Days.

I've been waiting for this documentary for SO LONG with SO MUCH anticipation. I saw the trailer on youtube and was hooked.

I'm thinking of getting the dvd and organising a free screening of it here in Melbourne. I want to get the message out there so much! It looks like this doco will be the one to get it out there effectively to the mainstream.

You can watch the trailer and read about it at the link below, I'd definitely recommend getting a copy.

I'm so excited!  ohyeah

Hey there Jaydubs,

saw your post and thought I'd give you a recipe of mine for chocolate crackles.

there's a photo of them on flickr, link below:

http://flickr.com/photos/jefah/2456028985/

You might want to play around with the amounts, I only made these two or three times as I don't have much time at the moment. I'm hoping to do some more gourmet stuff  and perfecting recipes soon as I'll have some time coming up. Exciting!

Sprouted dehydrated buckwheat is very 'crackly' like. Smiley

Meg's Raw Chocolate Crackles (nut free)
All volumes are approximate as I'm not big on exact measurements... sorry!

Ingredients:

2 tablespoons of coconut oil
1-2 tablespoons of agave nectar or other sweetener
2 tablespoons of desiccated coconut
1 tablespoon of cacao powder (or more if desired)
1 tablespoon of sprouted dehydrated buckwheat (more can be added)
Pinch of salt dissolved in minimum of water

Melt coconut oil by immersing the bowl in a larger bowl filled with hot water.

Add sweetener and stir, add cacao powder and salt water and stir until thoroughly mixed.

Add coconut and buckwheat and mix completely in.

Place mixture into medium to small paper muffin trays and store in fridge or freezer.

Enjoy!

I'm really happy someone is taking this on as a project!
