1  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Re: Your top 3 - books, gadgets, recipes, tips on: Thursday 01 May, 2008
Books

Leslie Kenton Raw energy bible, ani phyo and RAWvolution

Gadgets

All I had for a year was a £10 blender, knife and board..served me very well

Cant say..anything is better than my hands, a knive and a good blender!

Tips to keep on track

Be overprepared-- if this means hauling 3kg fruit to work..do it.. better to have MORE than enough than not enough. Be overprepared!!

Dont be hard on yourself or Punish yourself for slip ups.. all a learning curve

Have fun..enjoy the new energy..and doing things you enjoy..dont make it all about RAW!

2  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / Recipes - Drinks / Re: 92 days of Juice feasting/fasting on: Wednesday 23 May, 2007
Thank you for the help Ivan

Yes I am considering all options, someone suggested to me feasting on juicy fruits during the day but this seems to ruin the whole concept of it.

Will do a bit of shopping around for a decent ice bag next week, walking with 3litres will certainly do the trick!! lol

Onwards and upwards!  cheesy

This thread is wonderfull, after reading most of angela's blog (yes its taken me many many nights lol) very inspired.

A feqw questions though,

Can I make and carry juices if I have to travel/ work where I cant take my equipment??

It can be difficult sometimes, obviously easier if I am at home or stopping by at friends etc. But day to day I often am not anywhere near a kitchen etc..

Any ideas for making it travel/work friendly would be wonderfull

I dont want to end up loosing all the effectiveness from having "dead" juices.. if they have to be stored etc.. any suggestions would be ace!

Thank you
5  FAQ - Check Here for the most common Answers! / Raw Food FAQ / Problems with western doctors.... on: Monday 30 April, 2007
Okay I am having nothing but problems with my doctor. I genrally see mine once a week or one a fortnight as I have only recently gone into remission with my crohns, so they are eager to keep a close eye on me etc.

More and more they are questioning my diet and calorie intake, it is really starting to bother me

What is the solution? To avoid seeing a western doctor?

At the moment I am managing without steroids or painkillers for the first time in years. Even then I felt ready to come off the steroids so I did, my doctor is insistant I should still be taking a low dosage daily- why? when I am managing fine without them, havent had a flare in 4 weeks which is unheard of for me.

So its just for monitoring more than anything. I am happy and pain free for the first time in year. Why does it have to be such an issue over lack of calories, weight loss and choosing to only eat living fruits and vegetables??

Any ideas would be most welcome.

Thanks in advance!
6  FAQ - Check Here for the most common Answers! / Raw Food FAQ / Re: Calories?? on: Saturday 21 April, 2007
Didnt want to create yet another thread so just adding onto this one, hope thats okay.

Am having such a problem at the moment just have no appetite, I can manage a small amount of food once a day and then I feel so sick, I am still having mint tea as its the only thing that eases the nausea after eating.

Any ideas what I should do? How do you manage to eat enough?

I feel so full after having a bannana or salad I just cant bear anything else, I feel okay in myself otherwise but weight is starting to come off a lot faster, just a bit confused, could use some help!

Thank you in advance

9  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / Recipes - Meals & Snacks / Wild Rice/Brown Rice on: Saturday 14 April, 2007
I have read confilicting articles about eating both wild rice and brown rice raw, just being soaked for 12-24 hours and then eaten. Or others saying they shouldnt be eaten raw at all  huh

Any good ideas for preping these or are they best left alone??

Thank you
10  FAQ - Check Here for the most common Answers! / Raw Food FAQ / Re: Calories?? on: Saturday 14 April, 2007
is this 2 meals of raw?or cooked?

are you needing to detox alot?this could explain the lack of appetite..how is your energy?are you losing weight...how does you face look, how do you feel in yourself?

I havent had cooked meal in about 6 months, two raw meals - 1 around midday an orange, and then either 4-6pm or 7-8pm another- two bannanas

I have been juice/water fasting on and off the past few months, did a 40 day fast, then since then been mostly having juices.

Have good energy, better than normal, dont feel tired at all compared to the fasting

Loosing between 3 - 6lb a week at the moment- varies if I am unwell or have to manage on water etc.

Skin clear, face not puffy..

Any.. ideas.. huh

Is this okay.. I worked it out to be 300-450cals...??

confused!

Thank you

Thank you for the reply.

5 meals a day seems a lot to me, 2 meals and I am awake for about an hour trying to sleep before I drift off. Have normally an orange around 1pm and a bannana or two between 7-8pm, otherwise lots of water. I have been able to manage that quantity of food without needing painkillers.I am completly stuffed and dont feel like I am deprived

Is that okay for a start?

 huh

13  FAQ - Check Here for the most common Answers! / Raw Food FAQ / Calories?? on: Friday 13 April, 2007
Right, do you all stick to "conventional" calorie recommendations?

go on instinct?

Just very confused, after a long time of fasting on and off, I really cant manage more than 400cals tops, I know I can add nuts etc to bump things up, just taking it simple at the moment and eating what I can(stomach problem means I am taking this slow)

Anyways, any feedback on what you guys do or ideas would be welcome!

Thank you

Thank you all so so much

Have had an amazing week being 100% raw for the first time, just feel amazing, energy..training harder..so yeah all going well.. just trying to vary things a bit without upsetting myself but so far fine.

Have only got a juicer, basic kitchen tools at the moment, be glad to get a blender in a few weeks but can certainly manage without for a while.

Thanks again for the warm welcome
