256  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Re: chemicals in fruit on TV tonight on: Tuesday 05 February, 2008
i saw the ad but missed it unfortunately so please do fill us in anyone who saw it. i heard about another story on today tonight and basically the food standards in australia are really poor from what i can tell. we seem to catch on late when it comes these things. its funny how the media change sides all the time though. i saw an article in the weekend bulletin (gold coast) talking about how organic is a hoax and a rip off. they said they still have pesticides, how could that be when that's the whole point of organic? anyway maybe two months later the same newspaper and health section had an article about organic food promoting it and talking about how much pesticide australians ingest each year.
257  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Re: Is there any Vegan Raw Foods that produce B12 on: Tuesday 05 February, 2008
i somehow doubt this but a book i have says that bananas, comfrey leaves, sunflower seeds, peanuts, raw wheat germ and concord grapes contain b12. has anyone else heard this? i have to agree that considering that b12 is an organism, eating sterile diets ie eating lots of processed dead foods would probably be a cause to low b12 and that maybe eating unwashed organic foods could be a source of b12. either way we've lost touch with the way we used to eat and that therefore could be reason for something to be lacking.

i have a question though: does anyone know what the ideal conditions b12 live in? i've heard long term raw foodists have no parasites or disease beacuse disease breeds in filth and waste like that which comes from cooked food so i imagine naturally b12 would probably survive in cleaner conditions? even that inner health plus add that sells good bacteria says that stress and alcohol upsets the balance of bacteria.

i like what harley said about being "clinically" underweight. who cares what doctors say. i think the best health test is to look within. on raw food i feel healthier, when i eat raw food i get results that i can feel, and i don't need a doctor to tell me otherwisein my experience with raw food. my friend said i looked sick when i was eating alot of raw food a while ago and she couldn't even tell me how or in what way when i asked her. i got really ticked off  but then i realised that it doesn't matter because i know how i felt and she couldn't feel that and she probably said that just because she's been fed crap all her live about the need to eat meat and that vegans and vegetarians are deficient. i think she was jealous too because i'd lost weight with no effort or desire and she wants to loose weight so bad.
258  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Re: Do I need more vegetables in my diet... on: Friday 25 January, 2008
i worried about the same thing too but then i learnt that greens are so nutritious so i'm not too worried. i have to admit i hate raw veggies mostly that's when you consider that bell peppers are fruits and same with cucumber ect and i love those but when i was eating alot of raw i couldn't handle carrots and brocolli and all those veggies. i used to always have grated carrot in salads but i leave it out now. does anyone else not like veg?
259  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Re: Raw Goat Dairy on: Friday 25 January, 2008
very interesting freedom. i wonder if there are many on raw who have raw dairy. it'd be interesting to try it maybe once. i've seen an american website supporting it. i read a book and the author says that if you have only raw organic milk without the use of agricultural medicine ect that it can be really healthy but only for people who's ancestors drank milk.

261  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Re: Where to get Extra Protein... on: Friday 25 January, 2008
if i wanted to bulk up i think i'd just eat more. more fruit and greens that way you'll have more calories to burn for your workouts too. more food equals more protein. like brett said, i think it's almost clinically impossible to be deficient in protein. i have read that plant protein is actually better and you need less of it but also i don't think it's all about protein because we are made up of so much more. minerals are important for muscle development too. anyway good luck with it.

hi greenum. good work on eating 100% for a week. i just saw your post on my journal and replied there. i noticed you said you think you weren't eating enough. i think alot of people new to raw don't eat enough. it's difficult when we are so used to our 3 meals a day of cooked, to imagine eating huge amounts of fruit but you can. I love the way i feel after eating a huge amount of bananas or watermelon. just wondering, what benefits have you noticed so far? i am assuming you arent feeling really energetic yet because of your question about how long it takes for some people but have you noticed any other changes? anyway good luck with your raw journey.

hi greenum. i really started to feel energy after a week of eating mostly raw. before that I was doing maybe 2-3 days of mostly raw food and then one day it seemed to click when i was having alot of raw. finding out that i can eat as much fruit as i want really heleped. before reading more about raw on these forums i was having more vegetables and not much fruit.

i have been up and down since but i find after a day on raw i feel like i'm more in tune but sometimes i feel lethargic and i really need to sleep, maybe my body is cleansing itself or i can feel like this when i eat when i'm not hungry, that's bad even on raw. overall though i find my body will sort itself out and start feeling energized on raw food. i also found that for me overeating zapped my energy and certain eating patterns would make me feel lethargic. when I eat light raw food i start to feel more energetic and want to exercise. i don't eat as much but i think the food i do eat is more dense nutritionally. sometimes i even find if i starve a little in the morning and do some yoga and just drink water in the morning and let my body rest from digestion, i will have more energy by doing this. i read that undereating can be good for your health in a book called how to get well by pavo airola. (this isn't entirely raw but he does  recommend at least 70% raw food and talks about fasting)

i think it really depends for every person though it may take longer for some people. i just ate a big serve of watermelon then and feel like i have more energy now. make sure you have plenty of fruit and greens and try to eat simply and exercising helps too even if its light like yoga or walking. i still get tired but food usually isn't the cause, while i feel more energetic on raw food too that doesn't mean that overworking and other stress won't make me tired.

266  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Re: Aaaaah the embarrassing moments.... on: Monday 14 January, 2008
that's hilarious. it happens to us all. when i used to do kung fu and we were warming down once somebody next to me farted and the whole class couldn't stop laughing. i just thought of one embarassing moment. i used to do outrigging (those hawaiin boats with the thing on the side) and i had to call when we the sides our paddles are on and I had a huge blowout and we all stopped paddling and laughed.

268  Go RAW! The Testimonial Section! / RAW Journals - Your RAW Experiences / Re: travis' raw adventure on: Monday 14 January, 2008
just thought i'd pop in. been a while. i feel gross. since begger's can't be choosers i've been so un raw while not working. it's almost a good thing because it really reaffirms that i want to eat alot of raw food and that cooked food and especially having so much grain and milk is not good for me. plus i've realised that eating as much organic food for me was way too expensive so i am learning to make do when i do have a dollar to spare.
at the moment i am plagued with big lumpy pimples and i haven't felt like this in years especially mentally. the food i am eating at the moment reminds me of high shcool times, lots of grain and brain drain. even before i started eating more raw food i at least made good choices in cooked food. maybe i should just eat the grass outside and fast till i get a job. it's probably not a bad idea since i'd probably feel less groggy from eating refined carbs.
269  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Re: Yellow Skin on: Wednesday 19 December, 2007
i've heard of this before. my mum said that a friend of hers in school turned yellow because she was drinking so much carrot juice. I think it was Victoria Boutenko who said she turned yellow after eating dandelion because it helped clean out her liver so much.

what a late post but i need to vent. i have no job as of today. me and a friend i've had since school were fired together. through investigation with other staff members i think it's because the manager resented my friend and i for being friends with all the staff. apprently she wanted to make an example out of firing her two longest lasting employees for the new staff. i don't get some people. she could do with some raw food.

immediately after my first thought was "finally!" soon after came worry and a feeling of shame and dirtiness. i never imagined ever being fired before. apparently it was just written on my face that i hated what i was doing. i was told i obviously don't want to be there anyway and she couldn'tve been more right. what an abusive relationship it has been working for warner brothers. working every weekend for nothing no extra pay, doing manager duties, being called in a accepting shifts to the point of it being detrimental to my health, happiness and study. i wish i got in first, i was thinking of walking out the other day because i loathed that place with every ounce of my being but was hanging on over christmas. my new philosiphy now is if it feels good just do it. go with my gut and don't listen to what others say i should do.

there was so much negative energy in that place and i'm finally free from it. tomorrow will be a super 100 percent raw day to get me feeling good for job hunting on thursday. does anyone ever do  tai chi? just started practicing it again. i used to when i did kung fu. a good way to chill out.
