Sanga, hi! I read your comment as in Tassie being lucky to have the Goddess here...very true!

chai seeds could also be made into spouts like alfalfa, I think they are easier to chew this way - a bit slippery when just soaked. I have been experimenting with a higher fat diet for a variety of reasons (quicker, cheaper than fruit) and 'tis interesting...I do feel more grounded but also a bit flat. Love to experiment though! An open mind and heart are the most important factors in health I believe xoxox

I prounounce the name purse-lane too! I read up on purslane in a Tas-specific book and it dislikes winter here and thrives in summer, but seasons here are different to most of mainland Australia! It does come in different varieties melb. Steve Solomon in said book reccommends the Giant variety. More leaves=better I guess! Probably bred to be tastier too. I haven't found any yet but that's okay becuase greens are coming out of my gardening friends' ears!

ooh, a vacuum of raw-pleasure-free time...

A chunk of indoor activity has me craving the intricasies of ants, dirt, wind, weather, trees, wildness. Wildness...so scarey because it offers me freedom and true happiness. My heart and soul yearn to be free and it is possible if I let go and lean into it. Alive in the garden, bushwalking, communicating, loving all beings without limits. Whoa!

We're pretty attatched to each other Gos, we could have a holiday together though...I heard you're dreaming of a holiday to north Qld Wink Sounds lush!

Or perhaps there are many goodies in the outer layer of chia: the mucus-like membrane that surrounds the seed when soaked.

Oh, I was reading info of chia in the local healthfood store the other day and learned that traditionally chia seeds soaked in fruit juice or other liquid was known as Chia Fresca!

Sounds like a fun time in the garden with the guy that's so special to you. Your work will be rewarded if the satisfaction following exertion wasn't already a fine enough reward! Gosh, what a life!  xox

looks like the article is now unavailable

The sniffer dogs and security flocked to me because my bub was eating strawberries on the plane and was covered in red juice...that's one way to get through without being checked!

Thanks Rudolph. Are you concerned about fats like tahini being rancid? I do not know of a raw tahini in Oz as much as I would like to. A spice/coffee grinder or mortar and pestle can be used for grinding seeds. What do you think of chai seeds' tendancy to move through the body (and appear in poo whole)? This gets me wondering if they are an empty food. You have an interesting mind Smiley

Heya, I've been reading about this nutritious wild green many places so finally am identifying it. Here is a link to Wiki's photo...

I now realise I see this plant often. The seeds were used by Aborigines to make seed cakes. Its leaves also have mucilaginous qualities so could be useful to set or thicken. Who else wants to collect this on their wanderings?

Rudolph, I don't have internet patience to read this whole thread but am interested to know what you eat on an average day (if there is such a thing!). That'd be great to know Smiley

Grated raw pumpkin makes a yummy salad base, adding tomato, lemon juice, coriander, parsley, maybe cucumber. A friend made this for me and it was really yummy.
