Hi Rudolf

Thanks, very helpful! I'm familiar with the lemon detox diet - almost identical to the Master Cleanse - which says this about the SWF:

The salt and water will not separate but will stay intact and quickly and thoroughly wash the entire tract in about one hour. Several eliminations will likely occur. The salt water has the same specific gravity as the blood, hence the kidneys cannot pick up the water and the blood cannot pick up the salt.

That is why the sea salt-water drink is such a great laxative. When mixing the sea salt-water drink (two teaspoons dissolved in one litre of warm water), make sure to use uniodized sea salt and not table salt! You should try and drink as much of the 1 litre drink as possible. Finally make sure you stay near a restroom for the next hour.

Is this what you're referrring to???

Hi Alanabanana

Cool name! Yep, I love that organic place Pure.....but thank you for reminding me to get out in nature and just CHILL sometimes. I am always so driven...but there is a time to relax as well.

And I would love to get details of the Brookvale place??? Never heard of it but would love to go. Thanks!!!

Hi John

Thanks for being so candid. It did make me think!!!

So, here are my conclusions, based on everyone's input (and mine) so far:

1) I genuinely have zero emotional desire for nicotine and alcohol.....but that doesn't mean that I'm not going to experience a physical detox from them.
2) Even though my detox is physically based and not an emotional desire, I can acknowledge that fear/avoidance of some work issues today actually triggered the physical detox symptoms, in conjunction with being too tired. So, this is what I will do next time I'm in this situation:

a) Drink a green smoothie for max nutrition - just one glass that will be 'soothing'
b) Have a power nap (set my alarm so I can surrender to it)
c) Have a shower to refresh myself physically and mentally
d) Take one step towards my goal (whatever I am avoiding/fearful of) and reward myself. Then take the next step. Repeat!
e) Allow myself copious amounts of raw food (try the sunflower seeds too) but seriously intend to avoid the junk "just for today"! I ate junk/non-raw all day today and it didn't help me one little bit. I now have a very hard bloated tummy which looks 5 months pregnant and is very uncomfortable!
f) Get an early night.

I also read Jen's post (Rawsensation) elsewhere about the body needing energy to actually fall sleep. I think I sometimes fall into that trap of being too tired to sleep. So I'll keep 'working' on sleeping more and more for as many days, weeks or months (years?) as my body needs. If I'm really honest with myself, I think that I am long term physically exhausted. So now I'm playing catch up. Isn't it amazing how going raw forces us to rebalance every part of ourselves that is not balanced?

I thought that actually typing up this mini-strategy might help me for the dext detox wave that hits, and I sincerely hope that it helps someone else out there as well!!!!

One more question: is there anyone out there that can tell me they've had rotten detox symptoms but that one day they do just all melt away and then you feel FANTASTIC!~!!! Should I really expect this to go on for 4 years as David Wolfe suggests??? (I don't think I'm strong enough to handle 4 years of detox like today right now!!! Or does it come in waves, just there and there?

Bless you all!

xx

Thanks so much guys! I think the thing that stands out the most, having digested your feedback and comments, is that I am TIRED....and I haven't changed my old pattern of trying to push through it, instead of listening to my body and trying to support it better. Hmmm. I will definitely allow for more sleep and more power naps when I can, otherwise things just start to spiral down, instead of up - which is where I am determinedly heading.

Also, more showers work for me so  I will use that one too. Thanks!  yahh

Rawconnection - I have no doubt that I am a nonsmoker and nondrinker - fortunately something has positively clicked into place there and I know it's irreversible. However, I like that little sunflower seed tip.

Thanks again to everyone and keep the ideas coming!!! God knows, I need them ;-)

Also, I have to say that I actually feel a lot better, just knowing that you are out there and that you understand how it feels and that you care.  That means a lot to me!  :

xx

Hi there

I've been 90ish% raw for about 10 days now and I was feeling pretty smug about managing/combatting my detox feelings.....that is, until today!!! For no obvious reason it all caught up with me today and I have been feeling terrible. I couldn't think, couldn't work, I still have really blurry vision, I'm extremely tired and had a power nap this arvo but that just made me more tired.....and I've been climbing the walls with cravings that unfortunatley have not been satiated, despite me pigging out on non raw junk most of today.  Sad

I have a sneaking suspicion that quitting nicotine, caffeine and alcohol as well as going raw has created this! I've also been training 6 days/week (that's an increase up from 3 days) and, as I said, it was all good until today!  huh

Does anyone have a bright ideas (ideally tonight!) so I can start afresh tomorrow with a clean slate and hopefully be able to function better but still keep going on a 100% (ideally) raw diet? Also, is there any wisdom out there re combatting the added detox of nicotine, caffeine and alcohol? If you tell me there is no escape and I must get through this as it is (ie don't procrastinate the inevitable), then so be it. But I'm not a masochist - so if there's a smarter and easier way to approach this, I would LOVE to know!!!!

All advice and personal experience VERY gratefully received!!! Thank you!!!!!  ohyeah

Hey Freedom

Great to meet you! I've read some of your other posts. I bet you're glad you started so young!@!!

I love that phrase "parallel universe" - it is sooo apt for raw foodism, isn't it? I have already tried to explain how different I feel to some people but words like "amazing" or "excited" or  "lighter" , although accurate, just don't cut it because it is so much more than that!

I have two horses, I'm into natural horsemahip ('horse whispering') and have two very smart and very sensitive horses that are very attuned to energy and emotions. My youngster, Dancer, is so sensitive that it's a bit hard for her to cope wtih the world sometimes so she has been a bit of a problem 'child' (horse). Anyway. our relationship has changed dramatically in the last few days. I am really astounded. I can feel how much softer and more loving my energy is and how much more open my heart is, all without consciously trying to do this. Dancer has responded to  sso powerfully that her training is going through the roof and she is being very affectionate with me for the first time ever. The bottom line is that she TRUSTS me in a whole new way now. Extraordinary and very beautiful.

Has anyone else has big breakthroughs with animals like this, as a result of going raw???

Hi Pea - I'd love to meet, for sure!  yahh Let me know your travel plans and we'll try to work something out. I live in Manly.

Hi Joy - I am super-excited about the Potluck too! It's such a briliant idea to get everyone together like that  and I'm sooo looking forwards to meeting you guys!

Hi Jen - so that's you! ;-) Thanks again for your wonderful help on the phone. I did buy a Sunbeam and am having so much fun in my kitchen mixing things up!  I used to avoid kitchens like the plague.....so it's a brand new experience for me to enjoy being there! I used to think that fridges were solely to keep champagne cold ;-) I had a friend over yesterday, Cindy, and we went shopping for raw organic stuff (and her blender!) then we spent a good while in the kitchen being creative and admiring the lushness and colours of our raw purchases and being very high and giggly and SUPER-excited about life. It really is a brand new world when you go raw, isn't it? I feel very privileged (and proud) that I'm doing this!!!!

A few days ago I was wishing I had started it earlier, which may be true - but is also a bit negative. Now I am just thrilled with myself that I started when I did  and that I have the rest of my loooooong life to be healthy, happy and prosperous. I really do feel new-born - like someone has given me a 'second chance'. Does anyone else relate to what I'm saying?

Hey Raw Green Goddess

It's lovely to meet you! I've read some of your posts with interest - good on you for your perweverence and dedication!!!

I have been feeling very vague today which is rather frustrating as I am highly motivated but my brain is not cooperating very much ;-)  I think I am living in fantasy land today as I would like to be magically transported to Byron Bay (a la Star Trek) with a perfectly detoxed body, a bottomless bank account and a community of gorgeous like-minded people blissing out!  yahh

How is your detox/day going?

Thanks Rawgasm and helloooo Joybell!

Thank you both for the encouragement and I am looking forward to meeting you both at Potluck.

I've just bought my first blender (Sunbeam Cafe Series) and am really excited about what I'm going to create wtih it. My first green smoothie was to die for, with heaps of fresh mint. Yum! The only problem is I ate way too much yesterday as a result ;-)

Have a great day and see you both soon. My name is Sam by the way. What are your names so I can introduce myself to you there?

Hi Rawgasm

Thanks so much! I've emailed Gay to ask for details. Do you know what the exact date and time is yet?

I've just been for a run and I feel FANTASTIC!!!!

I wish we could bottle and sell this feeling. If people could have a temporary hit of what it feels like to be in a raw body, then they would do it!

Hi Michelle

Thanks so much for your response! I am definitely planning on going to some potlucks, they sound great......but I will have to get my skates on if I'm going to take any interesting food with me other than a bag of totally untouched fresh produce.  rofl

Good on you for being brave enough to lead by example with your family and (hopefully) not create resistance with them! I think I'm really lucky to be in this space (ie single), without that additional challenge. That's why I'm genuinely looking for a raw fooder male partner! I reckon I might as well put it 'out there' to the Universe. I've read with interest the posts of couples and think that their shared jounrey is a very beautiful thing. I've been vegetarian for 30 years, since I was 10, and am thus used to being a bit of a social outcast but would really like to share this jounrey with someone like-minded! I truly admire your stength to do it alone and still feed the family. GOOD ON YOU!!!

It's interesting that there are loads of 'young' people (teens and 20s) going raw vegan. Jeez - I do wish I'd started earlier. Still, I reckon that this momumental decision has changed my life expectancy from around 85 to 120!!!  yahh

Arcadia is totaly gorgeous - do you live on acreage and grow yoru own veggies?

Hi everyone

Having lazily toyed with the idea of being raw for a couple of years or more, a few days ago I suddenly decided THIS IS IT! So, here I am, wildly excited and I've been about 85% raw for a few days now, with some 100% raw days. This is no mean feat considering that I was drinking and smoking way too much up until Christmas so all of those yukky poisons are out the window as well now. YAY!!!  yahh

Anyway, I am actually committed to being 100% raw for life. And this is my genuine intention, although if I have the odd fall off the wagon here and there I'm not going to gvie myself a hard time about it. I've been mostly feeling full of energy and light and giggly and fantastic  - which is so exciting  - as usually detoxes send me into a big emotional spin. However, I've done soooo much work on myself for years that I'm really hoping that an easy raw transition is my karmic payback for all that hard work!!!  yahh

I am thrilled about finding so much exciting and inspirational info on the net and this website and forum is FAB.  ohyeah

I would LOVE to meet some Sydneysiders to catch up, chat, compare ntoes, whatever - the more raw friends, the better, I reckon. I live in Manly.  ohyeah.

I'm also going to be honest....I'm single and I would love a partner....and now I'm on this beautiful journey I would really only want (ideally) to be with a raw vegan. So if you are male and with a pulse (only joking  rofl) and around 45ish (I'm 41), I'd love to hear from you!!!!

PHEW. Don't shoot me for being honest.  yahh

Bye for now and  I'm excited about any responses I might  get. I've also realized that I keep using the word "excited"....it must be a raw thing because that is how I'm feeling about this journey!  yahh
