This is a bad thing.
At least the though of it makes me want to chuck.

However - it might save animals.  Hard position.
Something inside me is very against the idea though.

Great to hear that you are doing so well on the Green Smoothies.
I have just started reading Green For Life as well and I am totally inspired.
I drink 1 litre of GS each morning.  I am thinking of having nothing but
GS for a few weeks to kick start some of this energy and healing.

Great to hear that your mother has started as well.

Berry - those chocs look amazing!

Question - some of the chocs looking darker then the others.
Did you do something different to get the lighter looking chocs?

Loving your recipes - keep them coming.

Speaking of vomiting in Sydney CBD - gosh is must have been around 10 years
ago for me too.  I went to work feeling a bit off but ok enough to get through the day.
Unfortunately I got steadily worse until I just had to go home.  At the time home was
via the train.  I was in the shop arcade underground townhall station outside a
newsagency.  I was desperately trying to make it to the ladies room but just couldn't
get there.  Vomit all over the floor.  Most embarrassing.  I was so sick.  I don't think
I will ever forget it and I am still blushing talking about it.

KittyK - you are not alone in the world on this score.

Morning All,

Yesterday went well.  I had lots of juice and avocado and tomato wrapped in
cos lettuce leafs for dinner.  I also made some raw fudge (so yummy).  I am
so going to have to get myself a bigger food processor!  Another thing to add
to my "must purchase" list.  Smiley

Lots of my friends at work are getting curious about my diet.  So much so that
I am now bringing food in for them too.  I don't mind this - I just have to make
a lot more (the fudge and even the GS).

I went to the fruit and veg shop last night and asked for a box of spinach.  The
guy gives me funny looks and almost fell over when I explained that I get through
the whole box within a week.  So funny to see peoples reactions.

I have weighed myself and am happy to report a weight release of 2kg.  This is
really good for me as I haven't had a weight release in ages.  I am still around
10kg overweight - but just the fact that things have started heading in the right
direction - I am thrilled!

This w'end I am planning to make the raw carrot cake that BerryBliss posted
a while ago in her reciepes section - it just looks so divine and so yum!

Group Hugs,
S.

Oooh - loving the look of those dates - count me in if there is a bulk buy.
I could take up to 5kg depending on the cost.  Let me know.

Thanks,
S.

Wow - so good to hear about everyones experiences so far and I just love the warmth and support from everyone here.  I am happy to say that things are going well for me.  I am feeling awake and energetic today.

I have run out of spinach so I have not had a GS yet this morning and I managed to leave my wallet in the car.  I will have to go to the bank today and try for a manual withdrawal of monies without cards - haven't done that in years.

I have plans to drink a lot of juice today - just feel the need.

Big warm welcome to Narnas - happy to have you aboard.

Congrats on your excess stored energy release eve (weight loss).  I suppose I should start weighing myself too but at this point I am too afraid to in case there is no change.

Have a fantastic day everyone,
S.

*e no - not just fruit.
Huge amounts of green leafy veggies as well.

You might want to check out a few websites.  Jim and DurianRider
can help you.  Search for raw vegan athlete and the like on google.
Look for a website by a guy calling himself fruitarianone - he is body
builder that is raw vegan.

Goodluck,

Speaking of highlighting certain areas - I had a major stuff up.  My friend and I go to lunch every Monday.  She had a veggie red curry and rice.  I used to eat this sort of thing and when she offered for me to try some I couldn't resist.  Biggest mistake.  It was great for the first hour.  Then my stomach had such horrible cramps.  I didn't eat anything after that until the next day - just felt terrible.

So for me I need to be stronger when in the company of friends and family - or maybe when going out for lunch/dinner.  Anyway - I never want to see another curry again.  It was so nasty.

I guess that takes me back to today being day 2.  Sad

On a more positive note I have noticed that the darker colour patch of skin on my forehead is starting to lighten.  I don't know what this patch of darker skin is called or how it got there.  Has been there for at least the last two years.  I am so pleased that it is starting to lighten - I really hope it goes back to my normal colour skin.

Today - GS with spinach and rockmelon.  I will also munch my way through a dragonfruit, some cherry tomatos, 4 passionfruit, 2 apples, 3 bananas and some grapes.  I am finding that I eat all day at work and then eat very little or nothing when at home.  (Usually a little raw choc).

I am also really feeling the cold.  The temp in BNE has dropped a lot these last few days and I feel constantly cold.  I am sitting at work with a polar fleece on and I still have goose bumps.

Oh Eve - I would love you to post the brownie recipe (or let me know which raw cookbook it has come out of).

Love to All,
S.

Damian,

From everything I have read about raw diets (and diet in general) it is not really possible
to loose muscle from eating raw diet.  What you do loose is all the fat around and through
the muscle.  Think of a piece of meat in woolies that is marbled with fat.  The fat in the
muscle is what you have lost.
A couple of raw food books go into this in greater detail if you want to read about it.
In particular is you can purchase or borrow a copy of the 80/10/10 book by Dr Doug
he explains quite well - here is a small piece from his book page 148 Chapter 9 "Stabilizing Body
Weight"....

"Most folks, after a few weeks or months of raw eating, are certain that their diet is causing them to lose muscle.  They have never seen themselves so thin.  What actually happens during weight loss is that we lose much of the padding (fat) around our muscles and also the fat marbled within our muscles.  In addition, on a raw diet, we begin to lose the water that we once retained to dilute toxins.  This water also added to the appearence of inflated muscles.  Many people mistake this excess fat and water as part of their muscle."

It goes on to say that muscle is only lost or gained as a direct result of training.  It goes on in great detail - so like i said might be a good idea to read some books on this stuff.

Goodluck,
S.

Hey Thanks Love Spirit - I will try adding a little warmth to my evenings with
a shower and some fluffy slippers.  I have a blanket that I use in winter to throw
over me when reading or watching TV of an evening (winding down before bed).
I will have to try these ideas.

I totally agree that the need is more emotional then anything else.  I don't feel
hungry and I know I don't need food.  And you are right about previously eating
cooked food until I get that stuffed feeling.  Really just a way for me to drown out
emotions.  I think dealing with the emotional will be the largest hurdle for me in
this raw journey.

Thanks Again,
S.

DurianRider - I think I find it easier to stick to raw 100% if I can see a light at the end of the tunnel.  It is only for 60 days - I can do just that.  Of course at the end of the 60 days I fully expect (and will be disappointed if this is not the case) that I am loving the changes and the new diet so much that I choose to extend it for another 60 days, and then another, etc.  But for now - small goals.  Small goals are easier to reach.

Yesterday for me was interesting.  I made some chocolate and just grazed all day on grapes, dates, bananas, and chocolate.  So really - a very raw fat day.  Today I am back to my usual GS in the morning.  I will head to the cafe down the road at lunchtime for a juice - all this talk of juice has got me wanting some.  I don't yet have a juicer at home.

I am finding that in the evenings I start pacing around the lounge room and kitchen.  I am searching for something.  Usually I would go and eat something or cook something.  Now I just pace as I don't have that ability anymore.  Of course the fridge and pantry is now full of raw food but that is not what my body is looking for.  I don't know if this is just a part of the change  process.  I don't know why this is happening - just very restless and pacing.  Only in the evenings though - I good for the rest of the day.

Cheers,
S.
