1  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / Off Topic Chat / Re: Im having my mercury fillings removed FINALLY on: Tuesday 21 October, 2008
Can anyone recommend a dentist in Adelaide (preferrable inner north eastern suburbs) that has knowledge of safely removing mercury fillings? My husband has many of them and is in need of more fillings. He's due for a dentist checkup, but we don't have a regular dentist as we have not been to one since being married (3.5 years, naughty I know!).
2  Locally RAW / Australia & New Zealand / Anywhere to buy a green smoothie in Melbourne? on: Tuesday 22 July, 2008
Hi all

I'm holidaying in Melbourne from Adelaide for 2 weeks and I don't have my blender with me! Is there anywhere I can buy a green smoothie in Melbourne? Anywhere within a Zone 1 ticket is good!

Thanks
Heidi
3  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / FoodMatters DVD group buy on: Sunday 06 July, 2008
Hi all

I just saw the FoodMatters DVD last night and I defintiely want to buy a copy to show family and friends to encourage them on their paths to better nutrition.

Buying a single copy from www.foodmatters.tv would cost $35.75 USD / $37.22 AUD.

Buying 10 or more copies would work out to cost $25.51 USD / $26.56 AUD, because they have discounts for bulk buys and the postage per DVD would work out less.

Is anyone interested in doing a group buy? The minimum would need to be 10 people.

Failing that, perhaps Raw Pleasure can buy them and sell them at RRP of $29.95 AUD? It's not a movie specifically about raw food, so it's understandable if they don't chose to sell it. There are greater discounts for buying larger amounts.

Ciao
Heidi
4  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Fitness & Health / Re: I want to start running, but how? on: Tuesday 01 July, 2008
Well, I've been out for 4 runs over the last two weeks and it has been good. 3 times with my son in pram, which is definitely harder to do and I guess my form wouldn't been so great. I'm not pushing myself too hard, so have only been sore after one of the runs. I'm doing 1 minutes runs, with 2 minute walks. It is a bit of a push to keep running near the end of the 1 minute.

I saw the weirdest thing today. I was walking home, after a run and a guy ran past me on the road and he had no shoes on, totally barefoot. It looked so bazar to me. Anyway, I guess it makes sense from raw sensation's big thread about running.
5  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Fitness & Health / Re: My 2 year old has asthma - foods to avoid on: Sunday 15 June, 2008
Thankyou for your response Jo. It is very useful. I have been working on getting him to have some green smoothie - casually offering when I have them daily. He often drinks half a cup now, which is an improvement from not trying them at all.

I'm not worried about him. He only has the asthma when he has a cold, so it's not all the time.

I've changed to unsulphered dried fruit at home. Still trying to convince hubby that milk is not good, but he rarely has it. He does eat a lot of commercial bread though - I have to get on with making dehydrated breads.

We are making progress slowly.

Thanks guys. Those links have some great stuff.

I will definitely get some better shoes - I wear my current sneakers almost every day.

Hi all

I think I'd like to have a go at running. I think it would be fun.

Do I just put on my sneakers and go? On the lumpy bumpy footpath? Or do I go to a track somewhere?

Should I warm up first? What about stretching?

Where do I carry my water bottle? Do I carry a bag?

I think I'm about average fitness. I'm 24 years old. I currently do moderate intensity weight training 3 times a week (Curves). I'm somewhat overweight - 165cm tall 76kg. Weight is very gradually going down, eating about 60% raw.

Any advice on starting running?

Thanks all
Heidi
8  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Fitness & Health / My 2 year old has asthma - foods to avoid on: Thursday 05 June, 2008
Hi all

My 2 year old son has asthma occssionally when he has a cold - not everytime. He currently has it and wheezes a lot and coughs a lot in the night. I do not give him anything for it, as when I went to get the initial prescription filled it was some hugly expensive amount for all the gadgets - this was about a year ago. He only seemed to have it a couple of times since then. He has had many colds since then.

My son is not raw, as it is very difficult for me to get him to eat raw in the current environment. I want him to be able to enjoy the lack of having colds, and asthma too, that I do, since being mostly raw myself. I'm trying to get him to eat more raw - he won't eat vegetables though. Fruit he loves.

Anyway, are there specific foods to avoid with asthma? I have read to avoid cow's milk and dairy products, which I don't give him at home anymore, but they do at childcare.

I am quite concerned now as he wheezes quite badly. I prefer to avoid doctors totally now.
Thanks
Heidi

9  Locally RAW / Australia & New Zealand / Any Raw books in Adelaide libraries? on: Saturday 09 February, 2008
Hi all,

I'm trying to find some books on raw food that I can borrow from a library in Adelaide. Cash is tight right now, otherwise I would buy one or two from the shop. I can't seem to find any in my own local library.

Does anyone know of a library that has some?

Thanks
Heidi
10  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Re: New to raw food and intro on: Saturday 09 February, 2008
Thanks for the welcome guys. It has been very exciting reading all about raw and interesting to try foods and dishes I would never have dreamed of eating!
11  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / New to raw food and intro on: Thursday 07 February, 2008
Hi all

I am in Adelaide and I'm quite excited to find this forum. I've just been discovering about raw food the last few days. I first herd about green smoothies, which seemed like a great idea, because I don't usually eat enough vegetables in a day. Further research revealed that there was so much more to it.

It has been exciting to learn about this new way of eating. I'd definitely like to try eating 100% raw for a period of time. I'm not a vegetarian, but we don't eat much meat at home because hubby doesn't like read meat.

My 2 year old loves fruit, but he isn't into a lot of vegetables at the moment.

I have so many questions about things, but am gradually finding answers through the net.

OH! I can't believe it. I've just been discovering "raw" the last few days. This talk was in walking distance from my house and I didn't even know that "raw" existed when it was on. I would have loved to have gone.

Are there any more talks like this happening in Adelaide anytime soon?
