61  FAQ - Check Here for the most common Answers! / Raw Food FAQ / Re: What to eat to warm up? on: Friday 07 March, 2008
If you are overweight , or even underweight , then you can kill 2 birds with 1 stone by eating less and running from room to room and sitting down less .
Endorphins : When exercising more you will feel warmer ,less hungry and happier due to more of the feel good natural tranquilisers called Endorphins . Eating raw and especially cooked food will move more blood from the muscles to the stomach and so you will feel colder.
62  FAQ - Check Here for the most common Answers! / Raw Food FAQ / Re: Durian in Australia? on: Friday 07 March, 2008
...But even the still frozen durian that is thawing out  in the unrefrigerated display area might have been repeatedly thawing out for several days or weeks and so repeatedly refrozen at night when the store is closed. And during this time it will have lost flavour and might even be ready for the circular file.
As mentioned before ,some shops only sell Durian for part of the year when it might be cheaper for them to buy and it can then be retailed for $2- 4 then.
Other stores sell it all year in Australia for about $3kg eg some asian stores.
So...

lovefood :
Back to your original and very valid question about where to buy durian ,you could try looking again for durian during durian season which is May, June July August September approximately.
And watch out for Woolworths etc because they store their durian at airconditioned room temperature instead of freezing temperature. So what you could do is ask the possibly unhelpful staff to go out the back to the possibly frozen durian and get one of the 12-14 kg boxes of durian and so buy the whole box at about $2.50 kg.That way it will most likely to be  more fresh and tasty than the durian sold in the fruit and veges section...
 But...
64  FAQ - Check Here for the most common Answers! / Raw Food FAQ / Re: Seasme seeds for calcium on: Friday 07 March, 2008
lovefood : Tahini is a food that does not need to be fried for it to taste good .
Try cooking only those foods that are rat* raw eg flour and potatoes etc ... or even better , only eat raw delicious foods.
This is a raw food forum.

65  FAQ - Check Here for the most common Answers! / Raw Food FAQ / Re: Seasme seeds for calcium on: Friday 07 March, 2008
lovefood : Seasme , is that the smae fdoo as Sesame ?
Hulled Sesame has only half the calcium , approximately , than the unhulled ,because there is a lot of calcium in the skin/hull .
durianrider: Seaseme, is that the smae fodo as Sesame ?
According to the Tahini manufacturer they do sell their tahini as raw .
                  It doesn't taste rancid.
                  But it isn't soaked .
                  It is delicious .
It is organic by default , because of the lack of any pests , it doesn't need any chemical sprays .
It is grown with no/very little irrigation on the very dry Queensland/Northern Territory/South Australia border area.
Have you tried the delicious ,SOAKED for 12-24 hours, unhulled Samese seeds?
Were the Seasemeaes seeds ,that you ate, the white hulled or grey unhulled or the black unhulled?
Unhulled might taste bitter ,only because of the skins.
So the ,low calcium , HULLED sesame seeds might not be bitter.
Has anyone made homemade Tahini from unhulled Sesame seeds that have been soaked for +12 hours ,and tasted it to be as delicious , or more delicious than the raw, unhulled ,unsoaked Tahini from Coles etc ?

durian rider : Good points about fruit . BUT ! Surely an exception to GRAIN PAIN is the fresh raw sweetcorn on the cob ?! It tastes great and sweet. So do I prove you wrong when you say that ALL grains are bad?
