1  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Fitness & Health / Re: T5T or Five Tibetan Rites on: Wednesday 09 April, 2008
Thanks Jennie,

That was a great thread - I read it all and I just realised that the tibetan rites is a form of yoga (insert 'embarassed' smiley icon here)!

Cheers,
Steve.
2  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Fitness & Health / T5T or Five Tibetan Rites on: Wednesday 09 April, 2008
Hi,

I have read a few posts about the Five Tibetan Rites and was wondering if these are in the same category as yoga ie. flexibility (although it didn't look too flexy on you tube - anyone seen that guy in the blue speedos on the beach doing the rites at record speed?  rofl)

And, if anyone could tell me if they need to be done daily to experience benefits? Or can they be alternated with yoga.

Would also love to hear any experiences or health benefits discovered from others who love the five tibetan rites.

Cheers,
Steve.

Sorry, forgot to say that it is free, by email.

I just made a batch and it turned out fantastically. Now if only I could work out how to make dehydrated waffle like cones Smiley

Cheers,
Steve.
4  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Re: Fruit & Veg - organic? conventional? cleaning? on: Monday 07 April, 2008
Hi,

Thanks so much for all of your replies, much too think about.

Do they still use pesticides etc on organic produce?  I didn't think they did, but I was told they use organic pesticides.

Then I saw a post about organic veges saying to only eat organic veges - but to ensure you wash the pesticides and chemicals off them. Huh?

I think I will get into growing some of my own after seeing a website about square foot gardening that was very inspiring.

Cheers,
Steve.
5  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Fitness & Health / Re: Rebounding Questions on: Monday 07 April, 2008
Hi,

My new rebounder arrived today and I LOVE IT, perfect bounce, fairly quiet and so much fun to use - I feel like a kid again. I can see myself sticking with this for life.

Would love to hear what others do on theirs and how often they use it. And if any health benefits were experienced, other than weight loss etc.

I'm not allowed to advertise my other one for sale here, but feel free to check it out on eBay. Hoping that mention doesn't break the rules Smiley

Cheers,

Steve.

6  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Fitness & Health / Re: Green Smoothies/Green For Life (Victoria Boutenkos) with Diabetes? on: Monday 07 April, 2008
Ok,

So I found the answer in a rawfamily newsletter.

Just in case anyone is interested, although probably not based on the no replies, but anyways Smiley it basically said that the fibre in the fruit negates the effect (on blood glucose) of the sugars in the fruit.

So fellow blood sugar challenged buddies, drink up!

Cheers,
Steve.

8  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Water ionizers - alkaline water on: Saturday 05 April, 2008
Hi,

Anyone on here using a water ionizer for alkaline water?

Would love to hear what others think about this water.

Cheers,

Steve.
9  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Fruit & Veg - organic? conventional? cleaning? on: Saturday 05 April, 2008
Hi,

I'm fairly new to eating raw foods and just wanted to check in and ask what others do with their fruit & vege's (I'm eating so much more fresh produce now than I used too, so thought it best to ask);

Is it really better to buy mostly organic? Is conventional really that bad? I have access to conventional produce fresh from the market, so the idea of hunting down organic produce doesn't appeal to much, unless it is worth it?

Any tips on how to wash your fruit & veges to remove pesticides etc?  NB> I can't afford $45 dollars a week on food grade hydrogen peroxide (I read that 1/2 a cup is used for a vege wash, so one bottle at $45 would not last very long).  I was given a water ionizer and have heard that the acid water can clean your vege's - anyone heard of this? I also heard that the alkaline water does the job also, but not really sure on either.

Thanks in advance for your input!

Cheers,
Steve.
10  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Re: Raw almond nut bag on: Friday 04 April, 2008
Hi Damian,

Just sent you through an email with the details.

You can also use a nylon knee high stocking (as long as it doesn't have the thick part at the toes). Shelley Young of the PH Miracle cookbooks recommends this. I haven't tried it - don't want to be caught buying women's stockings, am waiting for my nut bag to arrive :-)

Cheers,
Steve.

Hi

Yes, I know where to buy, I'll try to email you (will have to work out how to send a message first).

Cheers,

Steve.
12  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Re: Teflex/Paraflex Dehydrator Sheets on: Friday 04 April, 2008
Ahhh....Silicon,

I didn't even think of that.  I have some tupperware silicon baking sheets that I could cut to size.

Thanks for the info about that, and the other post about using plates, I had no idea you could use plates in the excalibur.

Cheers,

Steve.
13  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Teflex/Paraflex Dehydrator Sheets on: Tuesday 01 April, 2008
Hi

What is everyone's thoughts on the safety of teflex / paraflex sheets?  They are made with Teflon and according to the manufacturer they have 6 times more teflon in each sheet than the amount used on other products (non-stick frypans etc).

Do you guys use them? Or do you stick with wax paper etc?

Cheers,

Steve.

15  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Fitness & Health / Green Smoothies/Green For Life (Victoria Boutenkos) with Diabetes? on: Tuesday 01 April, 2008
Hi,

I've been hearing alot about green smoothies and have ordered the book Green For Life.

Anyone doing the green smoothies ie. greens and fruit, whilst having diabetes or insulin resistance?

I've always been told you have to have protein with carbs etc so was wondering how green smoothies (with fruit) work for the glucose challenged?  Is it possible? Or just better to stick to green smoothies PH Miracle style (ie. greens and avocado etc no fruit).

Cheers,

Steve.
