16  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Re: Adjusting Socially on: Saturday 14 October, 2006
I use to have an extremely social schedule, out and about hanging with friends, usually at pubs.
When i started eating to be well, my whole life changed 180' ... slowly all my past habits were questioned, and i started to want other things., hence started attracting different people (its the vibrations!) I share a big pad with 3 others, new flatmates who jumped at the opportunity to learn about eating well -its not a suprise to see a queue for the juicer here.... and everyone knows about the magic of greensmoothies ... how lucky am i? we are very busy people, with projects, dreams and ambitions... and what we eat seems to propel it - its true!

My parents have jumped on the wagon too (we use to be high raw when i was growing up) My sister is loving the discovery too, she's just returned from NY -  with delectable stories from the Pure Restaurant http://www.purefoodandwine.com/
I think in general ive had a great deal of influence over friends, (ie social circle) and people I meet ... So this part is easy – be the change you want to see the world… and the world starts changing around you  for me the social scene has changed accordingly

I randomly eat cooked dishes... this doesnt bother me at all, and if i dont have a choice i choose not to fuss and will order from the menu. there is no guilt ... its just the world i live in. i dont want to make it hard. Like star1919, I too usually jump the gun and offer to whip up a salad for groups ….i always try to out-time everyone elses food thoughts   … a big salad always buys time   its also about sharing too.
Im still working out how I inform people of my eating choices, and learning how to honour others as star1919 also mentioned .. I think this is important. Its about acceptance too, and not about being opinionated. I think slowly my friends are coming to terms to the fact that this isn’t just another oksy-fad … this is the real thing, and this makes it so much easier. How lucky is that!?!?!

swamp power .. pond slime ... you guys make me laugh!!!!! LOL
now back to the serious stuff.....

Sunflower Pesto:  a dip, a spread or dressing, an all round favourite - especially if people are coming over!

soak sunflowers
blend with garlic, lotsand lots of basil leaves, squeeze lemon juice, pinch some salt, then pour a little sunflower oil as its all blending to get a really smooth consistency. Too easy

ps. stuff small mushrooms with this for a great appetiser

25  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / Recipes - Meals & Snacks / How to make a real quick salad on: Friday 29 September, 2006
1) Take knife and go to fridge

2) Open door & cut off slab of cabbage, take a cucumber, handful of dill and shallots (go to garden to take latter if applicable)

3) return to bench - chop like mad ... throw everything in a bowl, crunch cabbage with hands (it becomes softer) season and eat.

**special treat: add dollop of any dip, pesto etc

Fade away? heheheh
I dont think so .....
You will glow, and bounce with energy and be bigger than life with happy and positive vibes..... fading away is when you numb your body, your mind & your soul with crap, so no need to worry about that Smiley

Reading Joss's message reminded me of a photograph of me making smiley faces out of my salads when i was ~7 ... I will have to find and post it!!
happy days Smiley

29  Locally RAW / Australia & New Zealand / Re: Raw Honey on: Sunday 24 September, 2006
raw honey is also a great antiseptic ...
"Honey is a traditional topical treatment for infected wounds. It can be effective on antibiotic-resistant strains of bacteria"
jars of honey have been found in 3,000++ year old ejyptian tombs ... with all the properties still in tact
the real nectar of the gods!
