Tracey, i'd love to get her dvd, as well... been spending a bit much lately and need to stop as we're heading off to the in-laws (wishing for some place more exotic but... lol!) this coming weekend & our eldest will be 6 this month (wiping away the tears that come with the years!). i cannot believe it...
you know, typically these guys are all very healthy- Sam was ill friday morning but was back to his usual self by noon. i was proud of him- he let himself rest and only consumed water until he felt he was ready for more. wonderful  smiley
carob fudge... oh- it's supposed to go in the freezer? hee hee hee.

finally made those cookies- coconut-lime was too divine!
turned out wonderfully- the boys loved them and were sorely disappointed once they were gone. except Ry... didn't try them. i'll post the recipe.
had the most delicious navel oranges today! they are large (like a small grapefruit!) and incredibly juicy- made a complete mess! just awesome. followed up with 2 nanas and a handful of macs. then came home and had a couple salads with a spicy, garlic-y dressing and some cherry tomatoes. then i had the sliverest sliver of the cake that hubby made for he and the boys- not as good as i remember cake being so i'm soaking dates to make a torte.
friday i ordered 2 samplers from diamond organics and had them delivered saturday. rather expensive but made everyone feel like it was christmas- hubby made a lovely fruit salad with some of each (one sampler was all fruit, the other was fruit, herbs and veggies including the sweetest little baby zucchinis! so cute...) went to the hfs yesterday and stocked up on nanas and such. you know what i like the most about having a full fridge? not being able to decide on what to have for supper but knowing whatever i do wind up having is only waiting for me to decide... lol. wow, that made a lot more sense before i typed it out. LOL
trying to decide what to make for m-i-l's party coming up. maybe a salad and dessert, but what? hmmm.... i'll ask hubby's advice.
okee, must get out there and eat a piece of fruit/start the torte/nurse the elder nursling/switch out the laundry...

thanks, Tracey.
you know what they say about "hindsight"!
i got the cheese and crackers recipes from alissa cohen's book. all the boys gobbled them down! poor Sam seems to have overdone it as he is sick today Shocked( requesting water... he was very crabby to me so i told him "you know, i'm just trying to help" & looking quite miserable he reached out and hugged my waist, poor guy. it must've looked funny tho, as he was just finished going to the bathroom and still had his pants at his ankles. lol
oh, i hate when they get sick! helplessness...

made what was supposed to be coconut-date ice cream last night. hubby and i were impatient and only let it get cold in the freezer.
wrote a rather angry letter to hubby yesterday. he read it but didn't talk about it but we managed to be civil before he went to bed.
the boys had raw pesto on their pasta yesterday and Ryan has revisited his aversion to all things green. wouldn't even touch his noodles! has even stopped eating green peppers.
my supper was awesome (and shared w/hubby). made a salad w/bibb lettuce, tomato, purple cabbage, mushrooms, cukes, green pepper, and a handful of baby chard shredded. topped mine w/raw ranch dressing while hubby used his bottled cesar. afterward he said he'd wished he'd used the ranch...
things are getting rather sparse in the fridge. i will make the boys yogurt and berries for breakfast... maybe chop some walnuts into it as well. Ry will probably not eat until later. i will have my last galia, blended.
am going to check on buying an organic apple tree and some fruits bulk.
still plan on making those cookies! have to find the kitchen again *sigh*

411  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / help for new dehydrator- questions on: Friday 30 June, 2006
so, have used my new 9-tray excalibur but was wondering...
does it increase the air circ taking out the trays that are not being used, thus decreasing drying time?
anyone have any easy-peasy dehydrator recipes?
any other tips for someone new to dehydrating?
thanks all!

Rainbow~ i have met a couple people who were "allergic" to nanas. how strange that a potassium supplement would make it easier for you to digest nanas! being that nanas are rather high in potassium anyway... did yr naturopath give you any reasons for it? just curious smiley my wee-est is 5mo. he is so into our dishes at mealtimes but i just cannot bring myself to give a child under 6mo anything other than breastmilk! probably because of my bottle feeding my first 2... making up for lost time & such. if only if only if only, eh?

hubby's been a nightmare the past few eves... last night the boys were driving him nuts and he and our eldest (not quite 6, mind you) got into it & hubby comes out & looks at me and says, "i can't even do anything..." because my parents were home & all i could think was, "what is this 'anything'? why in the hell can't you parent w/o violence or degradation???" i am so annoyed w/his refusal at being an equal to the boys. and he wonders why i'm not in the "mood" since Will's birth... we are growing apart and the lack of communication is not helping matters.
made cookies, potato chips, crackers & cheese in the dehydrator. the cookies were gone before they even completely dehydrated and Ian and Sam really liked them. i ate most of the chips as they finished drying- there's some left but those will probably disappear tonight during CSI- lol. the crackers and cheese took much longer than expected to dry fully but have turned out nicely. this will probably be much easier when the teflex sheets arrive! i had to use plastic wrap... not the easiest thing to spread batter on.
made myself a chili last night- would have been better w/slightly less chili powder... or none whatever as i think it is past it's prime.
thinking of making coconut-lime cookies today. if i do and they turn out nicely i will post the results. if i never mention them again you will know how they came out! LOL
Kim has started her anxiety meds again. rather disappointed- not in her- just in the fact that the pharm industry has their claws in her so firmly. we women are so inferior and weak- thank goodness we have such strong, intelligent men watching over us. BLECH! oh, it sickens me...
maybe i'm just tired of my dependency on hubby.
the house is now devoid of fruit that the boys will eat. there's still some young cocos (many of which are just meat), limes and 1 galia melon.
i think i may have a salad today...

so true Gurl & Joss! i've read the same info from Dr. Graham. he writes so informatively but plainly so even i can understand it- lol...

i did rather well with my decreased fat intake all day yesterday. then i didn't have my carrot juice so i was rather hungry for supper and wound up having 2 nori wraps of mock turkey salad w/tomato and lettuce. the salad was made of brazil nuts- at least i'm stocked on selenium! lol... i don't feel too bad today though as i was able to do 45min of yoga w/Will yesterday! my limbs are a bit rubbery as i'm not used to such intense phys exertion but i can definitely feel it in my muscles which is awesome cheesy
before i go to bed each night i do some visualizing of what i want my body to be & i think that will help as well.
received my dehydrator yesterday- hubby was shocked by the size of the thing... i don't know what he was expecting exactly! he was pretty crabby anyway i finally asked him what his problem was and when he wouldn't answer i couldn't help but tell him how great it was that we communicate so well. i'd had such a good day w/everything then he comes home all *y and refuses to deal with it- just drags everyone into his negativity. arse...
uh, back to the dehydrator... lol
i'm going to try to make "crackers & cheese", cookies & potato chips in it today! all junk food that i have had the fleeting craving for lately (stress does that to me too easily! yet another thing for me to conquer or accept...)
i'm off to make berries and cream for the boys and my blended galia for me. mmmmmmm.......

whew, boy... i need to stop eating so much fat. i ate lots o' nutso yesterday- but in disguise... crepe filling and cheese sauce and avo and oil and... too much fat!
so, today, so far i've had a few Tbl flax meal & 1/4 avo as far as fat (also had the water of a couple cocos... which i'm sure has some fat but most of the fat is in the meat which is chilling in the fridge awaiting it's demise  evil)
i am going to go make a gs... they've been simple lately- greens/water/nanas. haven't wanted any complicated ones for some reason.

ooooo, luvin' raw!

went shopping yesterday while hubby took the boys for pancakes (they were too late so wound up w/other stuff- hubby told me all about it and made me feel rather ewwww...) and got a new melon! well, they smelled so good i got 2... heh. also picked up a couple more canary. no more cantaloupes, poo! should get on planting those seeds i have but it's rain rain rain all week! so much so there's been flooding all around- worried about hubby out in this on the roads. he shouldn't have too much probs being in a big tractor & trailer, as long as he takes it easy...
anyhow, got bunches of nanas, babe spin & spring mix, carrots, 1 wee orange capsicum, couple cukes,, a zucchini, a summer squash, baby bellas, tomatoes, dates, tupelos, grapes, strawbs, celery, and a few other things. oh, and a CASE of young cocos!!! mmmmmm, yeah... hells yeah! hee hee hee  cheesy
i made another cohen recipe yesterday for my supper- broccoli w/cheese sauce (but not dehydrated since the dehydrator hasn't even had the chance to arrive yet). pretty good...
trying to not eat all my avos and corn in one sitting... but my fave salad currently is:

Mama's Rainbow Salad
1 avo, diced
1 tomato, diced
1/2 each green & red (or orange or yellow) capsicum, diced
1/8-1/4c red onion, diced
kernels from one ear of fresh corn
olive oil
celtic sea salt
black pepper

mix/toss all ingredients in a large bowl. gobble joyously!

it is a variation on a variation of a salad by Jinjee Talifero. beautiful colors and delicious combo! ugh, i may not be able to stop myself today- looks like it'll be lunch. BUMMER.... such a disappointment- NOT... lol.
the raw life is rather delicious, dontcha think?

oh, i'm not worried at all smiley he's 100% bf, so i am 100% responsible for his pinchable plump! i think babies, in general, are absolutely gorgeous regardless of their roll-factor... i just wouldn't know what to do w/a skinny baby!
he's already grabbing at table foods. pretty soon he'll be enjoying avo!
