yeah, i thought more people on the forum could appreciate such an awesome idea! hubby said i'd be perfect at something like this but franchises run over $100k here
we're going to try to make one to take to his family's party in july...

Neet, i'm okay. stressed but that's not unusual (and boy howdy! lol). the good news is my butters order arrived so i have plenty of tahini & cashew butter to last me for the time being. you know, my tahini cheese usually does the trick as far as the cheesey cravings but i made it w/a different tahini then usual. come to find out it's calcium is 2% & iron 10% whereas the usual one (that i received in my order) has over 20% per both! i really think that's part of the problem... told hubby and he said that it's probably due to the soil (tho both are organic...) and said if it gives me more nutrition he doesn't mind the higher price... yay smiley

today is the last day for strawberry picking so, big surprise, we're getting ready to head out with the boys' new berry pails. this is their first time using them so they are really excited. june opens the blueberry season so i'll be calling the pyo farm south of us to get the schedule.
yesterday we had a great letterboxing adventure at kinder farm park. wonderful hike- even got rained on a bit. saw lots of squirrels- one was eating nuts in a tree while Will nursed under it; thought that was pretty funny... all i heard was "chisel chisel slurp slurp" lol- a very waddly ground hog and some beautiful birds (including a finch which i hadn't seen in years). there's a 4-H farm at the park so we got to "ooo" & "ahhh" all the chickens, sheep, goats and piglets (one of which was stolen over the weekend but returned recently... told them i would've stolen it too if i could have figured a way to get it home w/o hubby noticing). the boys thought the cows were too lazy. it was a blast- the boys didn't even mind leaving the playground behind. good day.
ok, better run to get berries!

i am exhausted. just wrecked. i finally got to bed at a decent hour only to waken every hour thereafter!
been horrible diet-wise lately. cheese! the thought of cheese makes my stomach turn but the taste is another story... ridiculous. yesterday went completely raw- there's a plus.
this morning (ugh, of all things....) i've had a 1/2 a blended honeydew, 2 cheese and mustard sandwiches (Huh), and a half-pint of blueberries. my days are usually great- smoothies until 10am, fruit until noon, raw creations until about 11pm- then the cooked crazies get me. ate 7 (eek-7!) stuffed shells the other night after all had gone to bed.
obviously, i have a lot more work to do on my food issues.
yesterday, hubby called me out on the shells. we discussed a bit during supper (i had tahini cheese w/diced tomato stuffed into an orange bell pepper/capsicum- org are my faves!). i explained that i didn't know what the hell was going on with my cravings; that i really thought that my body simply wants the calcium. he said that i shouldn't have to keep myself from a food/dish. that i should be able to eat whatever i want. so i explained to him that i thought i would be better off if there was no cooked in the house whatever but that wasn't poss. tried to explain to him that the usual deficiencies weren't found in the raw diet.
ah, funny how clearly one can remember how well one was doing on the raw- sleep, patience, planning, mentality, thoughts, esteem... everything runs better on raw for me.

made a key lime mousse tart for our dessert yesterday. even Ian liked it (he claims to despise avos). had hub take a pic & all.

had to tell about the ad in the paper, www.ediblearrangements.com. very cute!!! i would love to run one of their franchises... hub would say, "too unstable blah blah blah". i wonder if i could get a small biz loan...
ah, there i go dreaming again.

a couple states, Per... no more than a day's drive w/the kiddos in tow. it is so hard for me to hear med birth stories... it is an empowering event that dr's and midwives take from the womon. on Will's bc, in the spot for "delivered by" (i was going to put my name but thought it would go right over the records clerk's head!) i put my husband's name since he caught Will. the "delivery" doctor was not even in the room! grrr..... the whole subject gets me in a tizzy. lol

grocery day!!! yay!!!!

one of the things i feel bad about is that she may not even have the chance to know how awesome her preg and birth could be! her little brother (all were told) suffered several strokes in utero and had much of the damaged portion of his brain removed. the operations were done when he was still an infant, shortly after his birth. because of that, he has an incredible range- the only indication that something was "wrong" w/him is a slight limp and a hand that doesn't respond as he wants it to. he has slightly impaired vision- not in clarity. he sees in slats- like he's looking through a window with vertical blinds.
i want to tell my cousin to follow her intuition/heart... that she will not let herself down. i want to tell her that fear causes more issues than anyone should have to face. i want her to know what my dietary history was like during each of my pregs and that my difficulty during one was eased completely w/a non-med, healthy diet preg. i want to give her a hug and tell her how remarkable she is, how adorable she's gonna look with that belly, and what an incredible mama she'll be. i want her to know that the little being she's carrying knows everything and will teach her what she needs to know when the time comes. i want to show her the conditions family members have and point out that they were all form fed. ah, there's so much i want her to know!!!

unfortunately, if i eat too many of any citrus straight i get burns around my mouth. very attractive! lol... otherwise, i would gobble with abandon. usually, if i space it out i'm okay. as it is i have to peel the orange and wash my hands and gobble and i'm lucky if i get to do another with Will. he's been super fuss-budge lately.
figs glorious figs! i mentioned it to hubby again last night... i figure eventually he'll just give in and say, "yes! let us away to the wondrous event!" hee hee hee

found out last night that my 16yo cousin is expecting. excited for her but feel bad for her too. she doesn't deserve the stigma. being catholic doesn't help her at all.
i'm going to get Will down then type more.
457  Go RAW! The Testimonial Section! / RAW Journals - Your RAW Experiences / Re: trying transitions on: Friday 02 June, 2006
thanky, Per.... it is healing rapidly kiss

oh, man... last night i had a horrible scare! about 3:30am i woke up to find myself catching William! he was about a hand-length from hitting the floor! this is the first time that's happened with my bf babies. i was terrified- he calmed down quickly & nursed back to sleep but i was up for another half-hour. the whole incident got me thinking about how i feel after eating all raw a few days as opposed to those days that i "cheat" (yes, like last night...)
i'm drawn to oranges lately. i have to stop myself from eating more than a couple at a time.
klein & graham are holding a fig shindig in august that i am trying to find a way to. i keep mentioning it to hubby... and all my ideas as to transport, funds, etc. i haven't been to Cali in years- since before hubby- and was never in the san fran area; just LA. ack! gotta get there..... i told hubby i wanted to drive the VW out there w/minimal luggage so we could just sleep in the van in the parks along the way.
i dream too much...
grrrr
458  Go RAW! The Testimonial Section! / RAW Journals - Your RAW Experiences / Re: trying transitions on: Wednesday 31 May, 2006
ugh... gave myself a nice slice while i was cleaning my food processor last night (to make brownies rolleyes ridiculous... lol) on the inside of my pinky knuckle. and then i was intelligent this morning squeezing the lemon for my water with the same hand! ah, what a dolt... well, i certainly am impressive at times, eh? hee
went to the fm saturday and there was finally! produce to buy! bought 4 heads romaine, 1 head each red/green leaf, 1 bunch each kale and collards- all for less than $10! also bought 2 org basil plants (that Will loves- he reaches for them whenever we're in the kitchen...) after fm, we went to the hfs. then, sunday, we went for a nice boy-friendly hike at battle creek cypress swamp (www.calvertparks.org). the boys really enjoyed the nature centre and the trail- which winds through the swamp partly on a boardwalk. Ian was disappointed because the swamp was on the dry side... we got plenty of learning in about all sorts of things. i hadn't been there since i was a child and was surprised to see the barred owl still resides in his enclosure- he was rendered blind when he was hit by a car. even more surprising (probably to him also!) was the black snake that had snuck in! it was so nice to introduce the fam to a park i loved as a child (and to see it unchanged). great to get out and "do" something! even in the heat.
tomorrow is Will's 4 month check up. i love seeing how plump he is with all this raw milk! i've read a lot of raw preg stories where the womyn talk about how small their babes were and how easy and wonderful the labor was "because of the babies' size". well, Will weighed 9lbs 2oz and zoomed out in record time (roughly 1 1/2 hrs from waters to his cry). and i was barely raw... just veg. i would be afraid of little babies now. like i would brake a wee baby or something.... i dunno.
i think i'm going to make a nana/mint smoothie today. it is supposed to get pretty sultry out!
459  Go RAW! The Testimonial Section! / RAW Journals - Your RAW Experiences / Re: Perilla's Raw Food Adventure on: Wednesday 31 May, 2006
Joss~ tried the avatar thing the other day... perhaps this dinosaur will let me change it today. i'll have to see... house hunting has halted. mixed blessing- we are staying here (at the parents') as they are moving come aug/sept. we will make the mortgage payments & electric, they will pay the insurance and property tax. this way, hubby & i are not stressed about getting out "now, right this minute!", or about finding a safe place to live, or a place with a yard large enough to let the boys roam (almost) free. here we have almost 2 acres (including woods). also, my father doesn't have to worry about who's buying the house and we have been given practically free-reign on doing improvements at our cost (hubby and i agreed on that before we even mentioned it to them- we do owe them a lot since we moved in...) my father just requested prior knowledge and pics once we finished. (and, oh, womon! i have so many ideas to make this place the wonderful abode it was meant to be cheesy i just have to remember to take it slow... & that they won't actually be out of here until sept. lol.) thanks for asking, Joss smiley
sorry i sort of hijacked yr thread, Perilla! should've sent Joss a pm.
460  Go RAW! The Testimonial Section! / RAW Journals - Your RAW Experiences / Re: Sprout This on: Wednesday 31 May, 2006
but, Brett- if you had a life we wouldn't have this fasacinating thread!!! (jk!) cheesy
Miss G, i have one of those contraptions that opens coconuts, extracts the juice into a glass, spoons out any meat, stores it & brings me the juice in a glass... i think it may be busted, though, 'cos now it starts complaining when it sees a coconut. but in this modern world a girl really can use it's muscle. i'd let you borrow it but the shipping would be horrendous! (MWAHAHAHA!)
hey, dulse (no joking, now, promise)- i use the flakes in my soups, mashed "taters", on corn. didn't know about the bone remineralizing... what about teeth?
Rabbit~ i used spirulina in my smoothies a lot during my pregnancy w/Ry... i love the green color when it blended with nanas! i'd use up to 1/2 TBS w/no noticeable flavour... mmm. maybe i should get another jar next time it's on sale.
oh, and baby cocos- if you use a nice big butcher's knife, they can be pretty easy to open. i slice through the bottom until i uncover the plug, bang around it with the butt of the handle, then pry a little lid open. or i save that part for the special nifty gadget i told you of & just go for the plug and drink up the water. well, now i'd like some....

thanks, Perilla cheesy i was going to change it to one of Sam's fruit drawings but can't get it off my bio thingie now. lol. i think people can learn a lot from childrens' drawings- varying degrees of color, pressure, thickness of lines, shading... they can be incredibly complex and deceitfully simple.

Ian's mango makes me smile because (other than the fact that he drew it and i'm biased- HA!) it is a rasta mango! ah, that's what listening to Marley in the womb gets you rolleyes lol

463  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / Recipes - Meals & Snacks / Re: Almond Meal on: Saturday 27 May, 2006
Alegne~ yr almond meal should keep in the freezer for 2-3 months as long as it is sealed up well. i grind my own flax and sesame meals, then store them in freezer zipper bags w/name & date labels.
as far as recipes... can't think of any in particular but it would make a great coating for truffles or even a fun topping on a mylkshake! you could even use it as a "breading" on marinated mushrooms or broccoli...
have a blast- hope this was helpful!
464  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / Recipes - Meals & Snacks / pasta with "meat" sauce (transitional or not) on: Saturday 27 May, 2006

1 yellow squash, peeled & julienned or spiralized
1 carrot, peeled & julienned or spiralized

use leftover sauce on crackers for quick pizza h'ordourves.
465  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / Recipes - Meals & Snacks / sin! on: Saturday 27 May, 2006
